Minecraft is often branded as a game of infinite possibility, but with nearly everything, even the biggest numbers have a limit, however large it may be. Today, we will tackle the question of how many unique Minecraft accounts are possible. We will do so by finding the possible amount of names, skins, and capes. Hope you enjoy :)

It's bc 90% of the names are just fodjfpabj same whit skins. Exampel: Take a fully red skin. Lower the value of a singel pixel by 1. Now pick any other pixel and lower its value until 0,and then set it back to 255. Repeat for every pixel other than the one you chanches first. Now repeat the process, lowering the value of the first pixel every time round. You have just created billions of diffrent skins. This can reach trillions by just applying another pixel to slowly lower, and repeating again. Tens of trillions of skins ahcived whit purely red color.

Microsoft bought minecraft for 2.5 billion. Dollars, Wifies said that there are 91 million accounts, that means the amount of minecraft accounts bought are 2.4 billion dollars and that is for the monthly players!! The minecraft website says there are 200 million minecraft accounts so that times the price I 5.1 billion, more than what Microsoft paid for minecraft

The number is probably about infinity. For a different reason. Illegal names and Duped names. Making the number technically sky rocket. Also you didn't mention skins on bedrock on the short skins or the other combinations which aren't as important. To be honest to do every COMBINATION of name skin layer cape player type. UPSIDE DOWN. Special USERNAME like Dead mouse where his ears are attached to his gamertag and more would take a lot computing power. Also I mean come on. Minecraft is more infinite than the amount of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the known universe.

lemme do this for you. the number of possible skins was 3* 10^23581 right? lets say you are walking. every time you go around the earth once, you throw a grain of sand into the ocean. every time the ocean is full(with sand) you buy a powerball ticket. every time you win a jackpot(or whatever the best outcome is called), you shuffle a deck. every time you get a perfect shuffle(like spade a, spade 2, spade 3... , spade q spade k and then dia a, dia 2, dia 3, so on in a perfect order), press a random key on your keyboard. every time you create the lyrics of 'perfect' by ed sheeran(with perfect spaces, capitalization, etc), flip 69906 coins, and when all 69906 coins land on a head, your journey is complete. the number of steps you have taken would be between 90% and 110% of the number of possible skins. or its the same probability as 78335 coins landing on heads.

The 2nd layer of skins actually support transparency, assuming you didn't already account for that in the calculation, the final total might be even bigger. Also I believe you can add 8 layers in an optifine cape, as opposed to the vanilla 6.

You forgot that the outer layer of skins can have an extra color: transparent. So in reality it’s *slightly* bigger but not by a significant amount as the number of distinct hex codes is too big to matter

Transparent isn't its own colour so much as an extra dimension of colour. Each of the existing colours in this video (256^3, or 16.777 million) can have any of 256 possible alpha values, bringing the total number of colours to 4.294 billion colours (assuming Minecraft allows all alpha values in skins, I'm not a skin expert)

alright, so since there is 16,777,216 colours, if you times that by 256 (the amount of transparency levels available) it would be 4,294,967,296. So I calculated the combinations and it came as 95.716*10^31140.

Wifies I would like to add to your video: You can also have different levels of opacity on every single pixel in the outer layer so the number of combinations would be even higher, of course, we don't know how many different opacities minecraft can actually display but I think it's safe to say that it can display atleast 98 since using an editor like pixlr has 98 different opacities (not counting 0 or 100%) to chose from and as far as I know, Minecraft can display them all. Instead of RGB (3 bytes), the second skin layer is RGBA (4 bytes), meaning there are 2^(4*8) combinations, or the unsigned int limit, which is ~4 billion (can't say it off the top of my head). The result of all possible skins then comes out at 5.41 * 10^27511. To put into perspective how ridiculously massive this number is, consider this: Take every atom in the observable universe. Replace each atom with a copy of the entire universe. Now do this nesting 99 more times. The number of those final 100x nested atoms will be 10^19311 smaller than the amount of possible skins. Which is still a ridiculously huge number that can not be put into perspective.

You forgot one thing about the skins: transparency. You can make transparent pixels in the skins and it would still work. Well, at least for bedrock edition. I haven't tested it yet on java

There are used 1-2 character names, but those can't be created anymore after beta came out. I've actually seen one account like that live: "HQ". It doesn't make much of a difference and not nearly every combination has been used and some have deleted or inactivated their accounts just so nobody else could steal them with Minecraft's bad security. Alpha also allowed for some special characters for names, like the dollar sign and they are still allowed to stay because they are veterans. Still doesn't make a huge difference but these are almost never taken into consideration.

Skin count is actually much bigger. You can make skins with transparency, and so evry pixel color is encoded with 4 bytes: Alpha (transparency), Red, Green and Blue. So the amount of hex values for each pixel is 256^4 which is 256 times more. So, it will be a number with a degree of 10 about 4/3 (=1.(3)) times bigger then it was in the video...

You forgot about uuids, which is what minecraft account/data storage relies on fundamentally. There are 122 "available" bits in a uuid, giving 2^122 possible uuids (subtracting 6 bits for version identification and stuff). You won't get very far though, since by the time you near the threshold for uuid capping, there's a huge change (birthday problem) that a uuid has been duplicated at least once and will cause a lot of problems

The skins number is actually incorrect, as in the overlay you can not have any pixel in places, and there is also alpha, meaning that each pixel can be see through. Awesome vid thou!

With regard to capes you actually can overlay same pattern to get a nice rim around it. So the calculation might not be correct. At least for banners it wouldn't.

For the color one, you can just use the RGB value. For Red Green and Blue you can input a number from 0 to 255, or 256 different values. 256*256*256 or 16,777,216 different colors with the RGB formula.
