How Many "Weapons" Does This Guy Have?!

I stumbled upon a video of a supposedly $25,000 weapon collection and felt like commenting on it. The term "weapon" is used rather loosely in some cases.
Someone clearly loves hydro dipped things... ALL THE THINGS! :D
I'm not sure what I think about a galaxy patterned naginata... It's a beautiful visual effect, but not what I'd normally choose for a polearm blade.
The video I'm reacting to:

8:20 I have something to add to the razor barbed wired baseball bat discussion. The barbed wire is not so usefull for injuring someone with a strike, that may be true. Yet it could also tackle a big problem with edge less weapons, it could prevent someone from grabbing it and thus prevent disarming. I would definetly hesitate grabing that spiky thing. Cheers guys Edit: Timestamp

There's a difference between collecting for quantity, and collecting for quality. With all that money he's spent, he could have so much better items, though his collection would be smaller.
@shawnwolf5961
@shawnwolf5961 2 года назад
I mean, what is quality to you? He obviously wanted pieces that aren't exactly effective, but are references from movies and anime. And that's okay, a collection of that sort of thing doesn't NEED to be functional, it just needs to be a copy or duplication of the item seen in said movie/anime or video game.

He was 18 and had that arrogant "I can buy cigarettes now and that means I'm a grown man" aura about him. A few weeks later, I saw him walking around downtown Tacoma with a wall hanger katana slung at his back and...yeah. Hey Skall, just wanted to mention, that bleach sword at 12:51 isn’t meant to be that small. It’s also supposed to bend at two right angles to form a rectangular shape and is used in a rather peculiar way. Firstly, It’s meant for executions. Though even then it’s not the most useful in that regard. Secondly, the character who wields it has the power to increase the weight of anything he strikes. So once your too heavy to move he places your neck in the gap of the blade and lifts it upwards to decapitate the victim. The swords they use in Bleach, known as Zanpakto, are representations of the wielders spirit. So that particular sword being shaped that way is meant to show how the character doesn’t want to resort to violence and would rather subdue his opponents unless there are no other options, but is still willing to kill if and when necessary. Signed- a bored Bleach fan

As pure mall ninja as that collection is, this turned out very wholesome in the end and I like the end message; do what makes you happy. I see so many youtubers, redditors, etc. shit on mall ninja collections, but what they don't consider is that these people don't actually intend to use this stuff. We call most of that wall hangers, and...if that's actually what they are being used for, outside the odd water bottle cutting/testing just to see what it can (or can't do)...then is it really mall ninja? To ME, mall ninja is the guy who actually thinks his 150 dollar switch/sword/axe/gunblade combo will actually be effective--not the person collecting and even laughing at some of the ridiculousness of some of it. I'd actually be interested to see a collection of actual gimick HISTORICAL stuff--like the lantern shield, for example. I think it would be fun as hell to see, in one collection, all of the crazy weapon hybrids that we've seen historically--from medieval times forward. Or even pre-medieval times if there was gimicky, showy stuff then too. Great video Skal--looking forward to the next one :)

@-Zevin-
@-Zevin- 2 года назад
A couple things have to be said about cold steel. Cold Steel doesn't actually "make" anything, they contract out different companies around the world, from China, India, Taiwan, South Africa etc. So they have everything from great quality swords / knives, to cheap crap. Also the products they do sell seem to be improving dramatically, it's clear they have followed the rise of sword collectors and RU-vidrs like Skal, and Matt Easton, temper, distal taper etc are much better than they used to be. Sometimes this is true of existing current models, so outdated reviews from 10 years ago, aren't really valid today. Cold Steel swords like the Polish Saber are actually excellent, mine has a 7.5mm to 1.7 mm distal taper, is a bit heavy, but excellently balanced and usable, for the price it is FAR superior to anything I have seen in a similar price range. I think Cold Steel in general has a poor reputation among serious sword collectors today, simply because of their kind of cringe marketing. Allot of serious collectors are into history and the serious academic side of swords, so the fat man smashing stuff to rock music ads they used to play came off as very cringe to many, and people didn't want to associate with cold steel, but honestly give some of their products a chance. Also it's ironic when people will like Windlass, they may have many cheaper swords, but windlass is taken seriously, they are consistent in quality and even have made real military issue weapons going back to Colonial India, why is this ironic that people will like Windlass and hate Cold Steel, because some Cold Steel swords ARE windlass swords bought under contract by Cold Steel.

In Germany most pocket knives count as weapons, simply when you can open it with one hand AND the blade locks in place when you open it 😂Or at least they fall under the weapon law. The knife-section has a detail that says 'weapon character' though, usually for fixed blades (which you can actually carry legally up to 12 centimeters lol, but no 6 cm folder that locks and is a one-hand-opener). 😅 Stupid german knife laws 🥲
@bodyno3158
@bodyno3158 2 года назад
A fixed blade knife with a 12cm blade is a legit weapon, way more dangerous than a 6cm folder...
@shawnwolf5961
@shawnwolf5961 2 года назад
I would say most countries (undeservedly so) give pocket knives the side eye. Even here in the US, there are knife laws that vary state to state and is a hot confusing mess, to the point I'm afraid to carry anything larger than an inch or so--for fear of being accused of carrying a "Deadly weapon." It's like come on lawmakers, just because something has a 3 inch blade, it doesn't make it a damned weapon, look at a machete.
@Leftyotism
@Leftyotism 2 года назад
@@bodyno3158 Well, I think the idea behind that is, that you can have your hand unseemingly in your pocket and then WHAM you yank your hand out of your pocket but instead of a fist a locked blade of a folding knife that has already been opened comes flying. A fixed blade you usually have to reach for, meaning it wouldn't be ready as fast as a one-hand opening folder and you could see that someone was reaching for something in the first place. You can carry a folder that is either a one-hand opener OR a two-handed opener that can lock the blade though, but not both at the same time, no matter the blade length. I don't think they accounted for neck knives which you can also carry by fixing the sheeth of the knife with a short lanyard onto your belt and carry in your pocket as well (instead of the intended way on a longer lanyard (or ball chain) around your neck, which you also would have to reach for first). The sheeth then automatically gets pulled of your fixed blade and it's ready to go in the same fashion. Knife laws are weird, the made Balisongs completely illegal, I guess because they look dangeorus or something; (and ninja stars, and OTF switchblades, you can have a switch blade at home that opens sideways and is 7,5 cm in blade length at max though). 🤷 These weird laws basically made me switch from carrying a normal folding knive to carrying a fixed blade as my go-to-edc. Because I want to be able to have it not being able to close on my fingers and I also want to get the blade out with one hand. Quite unreasonable knife laws in my eyes.🤷
@Leftyotism
@Leftyotism 2 года назад
@@shawnwolf5961 Hehe true, in Germany the weapon law is nation-wide though, so at least I don't have to worry about how the other Bundesländer might handle it differently. Austria for example doesn't have as absurd knife laws as we do. They can carry pretty much any normal pocket knife they want. Well, they are sort of a different German (speaking) state though, but it's weird. 😅
@Leftyotism
@Leftyotism 2 года назад
Jörg Sprave even created a huge folder, that of course locks into place, but it opens with both hands; so that's technically legal to carry, but the blade is the size of a machete lmfao. Since the restricted blade length only applies to folders 😂
