She chooses her projects exceptionally well and picks roles that showcase her acting range, not just roles where she can be the “pretty star.” She seems to have really great management.
It's her management team and the fact that she's gotten to produce movies as well. Meghan and Marilyn also wanted to be taken seriously as actors. Meghan just doesn't act spectacularly well. But we take B rate men actors seriously so 🙍. Marilyn could act, sing and dance. But it was the 50's and she was only viewed one way because if her looks.
@@faycoleman9023 do we take B rate actors seriously? Idk feel like shia lebouff got clowned on pretty hard, most acotrs are kinda getting clowned on these days. They have so much money that they think their fame will protect their shitty takes when it'll just get people making fun of them. They need to shut up and keep their opinions to themselves like the rest of us.
@@faycoleman9023 Yeah I feel bad for Marilyn. The time she lived in didn’t allow her to flourish in the business beyond being typecast. Marilyn crawled so Margot could run.
@@faycoleman9023Sure, but there’s more to it than that. Marilyn Monroe was extremely crass for the time she lived in. Marilyn Monroe was both a victim and perpetrator of her own fate. She built up the dumb blonde bombshell image as a means of success, and it was weaponized against her by the industry and by the public. Her real life drama of sleeping with JFK didn’t help either. That woman was no saint. Take someone like Audrey Hepburn to be the foil of Marilyn. She too was extremely beautiful and famous in the same time period. However, she tended to not dabble in the same type of roles as Marilyn and was not doing things to make herself appear vulgar.
important to mention marilyn monroe would have loved to do all of those things but was too controlled to have a choice. many famous people are especially back in the "golden age" of hollywood but even still now some have their lives controlled by contracts, lawyers and agencies. the bombshell trope sure is old and tiresome but you dont only escape the bombshell trap just by being "more intelligent" or more talented. there are some of the worlds most known actresses that died in the bombshell trap from being exploited for their bodies. glad margot doesnt have to deal with that, i love her films too.
Considering she made her own production company after she was underpaid, was an open activist and was for the civil rights movement I have to disagree. A lot of men didn’t like how political she was and how strong so they made baseless lies and rumors about her.
I agree - of COURSE this queen deserves all the praise for all she does and the risks she took! I love and admire her so much! But at the same time, we should be careful not to look down on other “bombshells” who were in different circumstances and perhaps couldn’t (for whatever reason) do the same.
Marilyn Monroe was a horrible actress though. It’s very obvious why she couldn’t break out of her bombshell role. I cringe watching her movies and wonder how she even appeared on the screen, other than her looks
@@bensonthecatlilathefrenchi1290 ah yes when some studio wanted to take her money or pay her less it was very insecure of her to make a company to make sure people could get paid properly. And when she was very active for civil rights, very insecure. For lgbt? Insecurities.
Excellent point. Both beautiful yes, but both way more than just pretty. Fortunately they had the opportunity to show their talent beyond the 'bombshell' archetype. And some of their best roles were those where they weren't relying on pretty at all.
@@Bulhbluhbuy She was good but nothing over the average hollywood bombshell. And sadly, she messed up by being mean to the wrong people. She got a bad reputation of bad mouthing people she worked with which killed her career.
@@beepboop7090 yes, because she talked about her experiences, how she was sexualised since 15 in the industry and the attitude towards her and she became uncomfortable and paid for it.
i think she “scaped” it because of the time period where we started breaking the stereotypes, otherwise she would’ve been sexualized in early 00s like megan fox, britney spears and more
Something I hadn’t really thought of-I saw a great video essay (I can’t find the link :( ) about how Megan Fox played her character in Transformers in a way more nuanced way than was focused on by the editing or Bay’s direction
@@dolphinswilltakeover it means when you take in character motivations, character skillsets, character history and the way Megan Fox expressed her characters emotions and reactions based on that information, Mikaela Banes was the most developed character of the first two movies and the only one that actually fully participated in a hero arch but people came away from the first one thinking she was dumb and useless because how just how much the editing emphasized her body and undermined her character’s intelligence in a way the mimicked Sam’s perspective
She got the bombshell jobs first and when she was rising through fame, she finally had all the options to pick what she wanted. It's pretty much like applying to whatever job is available so that you can save up and get the experiences for the jobs you actually want in life
Sadly a lot of actresses are still stuck being typecast as the "pretty" or "sexy" one. Margot Robbie was incredibly smart to be able to break out of that stereotype but sadly for other actesses it's not that easy. Sofia Vergara, Megan Fox and even Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried has struggled or are even still struggling now to break out of those roles. Sad that Hollywood can be this toxic.
@@erikaalejandra1710anne hathaway DID (past tense) struggle to get out of 2 stereotypes, one as the "pretty" actress and one as a child actress only for kid shows. She infamously was like the 8th choice for the Devil wears prada because they didn't think she could do mature roles until they saw her in brokeback mountain. She also broke out of it by doing roles like Les Miserables and "love and other things".
The same thing will happen to Sydney Sweeney. Just give it time. It happened for Ana too. They all got naked and now we see Margot and Ana everywhere. We’ll see Sydney everywhere too.
It's not as crazy as when that monster was alive though. You know who I'm talking about; the one who controlled pretty much everything in Hollywood at the time.
I think the times are different now compared to earlier actors. She just got an upperhand blessing which kinda paved way for another young bombshell like Sydney Sweeney - who also is also producing films
I think its the time we’re living in now too. We’re more progressive and also Margot is best known for her role as Harley and she’s one of the best DC female villains
I just love seeing female actresses who aren't afraid to be ugly on screen. Play an ugly character, who makes ugly faces and ugly choices. Who moves gracelessly, and is given the space to do that. In my opinion that's the most badass thing a "bombshell" could do in their roles.
I've loved her since she was Donna Freedman in the Aussie soap Neighbours! To see her reach such heights, and while playing all these iconic and nuanced characters, and making such great opportunities for herself and others -- I want only the best for her!
and dont forget to mention even just her ability to play her roles so specific and different to the point where her body language and facial expressions are different extends her ability to always give “extra and more”. shes crazy talented, beautiful, and has a face that is particular to a variety of movie genres which isnt seen as much compared to the most well(er) known actors.
One quote of hers that stuck with me was after being asked if she thinks she’s sexy, she replied immediately with “No. I don’t think I am. I feel sexy when I play a character, but not as myself.”
I don't think she really fell into the trap. I think she used it to her advantage to gain the recognition she needed into order to take on more serious roles. Very smart move
Friendly reminder to you fellas that pretty women are often also talented, but are not able to be in more challenging roles that demonstrate that talent :) Don't look down on us just because we're either beautiful or ugly, ok? 🌸
“The Bombshell” isn’t exclusive to actresses tho. Singers like Madison Beer and Ariana Grande; Very attractive women that avoid looking “flawed” in public, end up getting trapped in this role as well, where if they look 0.5% unattractive they’ll receive a lot of hatred.
She's not from the U.S. She already had a career back in Oz. Was already involved in production at a smaller scale. Had a network of fellow seasoned Oz actors, for guidance. Most importantly, She came prepared with a long term plan.
