The main menu music in this game is amazing, I love it. I played Tokyo 2020. They actually learned from the wii u games.

For me, there’s the fact that to play this game, you MUST be playing in TV mode. Bear in mind, that this was released in the first half of the Wii U’s lifespan, and being able to play off of the tv was literally the main selling point of the system during that time.

I like how your analysis of this game is playing all the events once and then legends showdown once. I don’t really think you see the big picture enough because this one is one of my favorites by far.

I've got some for Rio: 3DS: -Oh, there's still Mario & Sonic games for the 3DS. -Omg we have almost double the playable roste- (zooms in on the actual 7 playable characters)… oh there's restrictions again. -Why are Mario, Sonic, and Miis that only characters you can play as in every event? -Why can I only play as my Mii instead of any Mii? -There's only 14 events in the whole game. -There's no Dream Events. There's just these Plus Events that are literally the same, but just add Mario & Sonic stuff in them. -Why is Sticks in this game? I don't remember Sonic Boom ever being canon. -Why is there Vector and Espio, but no Charmy? Or Jet and Wave without Storm? -(looks at Dry Bowser and Eggman Nega)… Oh look, clone characters in a Mario & Sonic game. -Ok, let's be real, the Koopalings and Deadly Six are just there to add slots. -Nabbit shouldn't be holding that bag during 100m, he could be cheating with something in there. -Aside from Mario and Sonic, the playable characters in Rhythmic Gymnastics are all female. Nintendo/Sega sexist confirmed. -So some of the rivals from previous games are playable, but where's Big Bullet Bill, King Boo, and Kamek? -Once again, the handheld version has a story mode, but the Wii U version doesn't. -Why doesn't my Mii talk when other Miis can. -The training minigames are ripped right out of London 3DS, but with Miis. Wii U: -There's an opening again, but its so badly animated. -Why is Boom Boom standing with the Mario characters but Dry Bowser isn't? -The fact that we have a hub world instead of a menu is cool and all, but slows down the game way too much. -Once again, Luigi will never talk in a Mario & Sonic game. -They cut 7 whole characters from the 3DS version, and on top of that, we can play as Toad? Who asked for him? I would rather play as Dry Bones or Ludwig in 4x100m Relay. -Considering this on the Wii U, why does this game have the same amount of Olympic Events as the 3DS version? -There's still no Dream Events, and now there are these Duel Events, which are just as lame as the Plus Events. -Why do 3 of my Rugby Teammates need to be Boom Booms or robots, why can't I just choose 7 characters for my team. -Why are some of these controls schemes so difficult, like Table Tennis or 4x100m, I don't think a kid can play with these kinds of controls. -There's no motion controls, but is anyone really going to play with the Wii Remote? -Why do I have to compete in the same event 4 times in tournament mode? -I can only use Miis for tournament mode most of the time. -DK and Shadow doing gymnastics is the last thing I needed to see. -There's no award ceremony after finishing an event. Way to make me feel good. Arcade: -Oh yeah, by the way, this version exists. -These characters are so horribly modeled. -Where are the new characters? -Why are Hammer Throw and Trampoline in this version but not the other games? -There's only 9 events to play in. -I have to exercise to play this game. I didn't sign up for this.

I still play this game to this day because even thought it’s not the best, it’s just fun to destroy people in hockey.

*For some reason, Rouge is one of the main villains of story mode, even though she’s more of A neutral character than she is evil. You could have gotten Chaos or Zavok. Also you can’t unlock the villains as playable characters, I love how Dry Bowser is A main villain, but you can’t just give me Dry Bowser and not play as him. (At least I have Metal Sonic)*

I agree with Nathaniel. Honestly speaking, I actually enjoyed Rio 2016 DESPITE having no dream events and significantly fewer Olympic events because each event was quality and had a lot more effort put into them!

Fun fact, this game uses the Hedgehog Engine. Rio 2016 uses a semi prototype of the Hedgehog Engine 2. And 2020 uses a newer (than Forces) version of the Hedgehog Engine 2. Now *without* Havok for the first time since Sonic 06!

What triggers me about this game: No Handheld version. They could have made a handheld game that's better than the console version, but Sega and Nintendo didn't even try to make a 3DS game.

The shadows from story mode are just shadow bugs from subspace but with better HD and stuff
