How Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Should've Sounded 

Hey, if you’re Hispanic and prefer the term “Hispanic” over “Latino,” my apologies. I tried to go with the most generally accepted term amongst Hispanics. Originally, I thought it was “Latino.” But, after doing some post video study, I found that “Hispanic” may be the more preferred term.

I myself am Puertorican, p similar to Miles unironically (puerto Rican mom, black dad, from Brooklyn, real difference being my mom was the real hard ass growing up lol) and when going through Miles Morales’ game, while the score was FIRE, I think your approach really respected the character and his roots as Puerto Rican, Black and, above all, a Brooklyn Badass 🤙🏾

To be extremely fair, Miles is a New Yorker, from Brooklyn specifically, growing up with his Puerto Rican mother alongside his black father, and looking up to his black uncle. Miles is very much someone absolutely entrenched and surrounded by black culture living in that kind of environment, so it doesn't surprise me that he doesn't express his being Puerto Rican very much. In BTSV there's actually a joke about him using super formal spanish because he doesn't actually know the language very well. Not saying it shouldn't be expressed, afrolatino is an underrepresented demographic that deserves representation and I really liked these tracks, it just doesn't surprise me that Miles is more focused on being "the black Spider-Man" rather than "the Hispanic Spider-Man" by the people who write his stories.

And for guitar the intro for esa mujer or intro to títí me preguntó . And the whole dembow genre is a gem for music. the beat to sorcorro by jey one could fit good. And all of OG detruyelo beats are fire.

I love that the dynamic music that was introduced into Spider-Man ps4 and ofc continued into all 3 games. It really does set the mood of the specific gameplay moments the player is engaging in

This was incredible, the guitair melded so perfectly with everything. Every time it came in it was exciting, loved every track you made. I had a thought, what if there were 3 tracks, one that incorporated more hip hop, one that incorporates more latin sounds, and one that blends them together, could be interesting.

the web swinging theme was so good. i wasn't initially going to click on this video, but the puerto rican flag on the thumbnail had me interested, since people don't usually talk about that part of his identity. safe to say, i'm glad i did! as for the question of hispanic vs latino, either works. latino is just a specific term for those from latin america or the caribbean etc etc. miles is both latino and hispanic, so it doesn't really matter what you use !

These were some really cool ideas. It would have been so unique to Miles and it would've differentiated him much further from Peter, which is one of the themes of the game anyway.

4:31 idk if this is only in Peter’s game, but when you zip through a water tower it causes the music’s tempo to go faster for a second. I kinda remember it as drums but I’m not sure since I haven’t played the first game in a while. Also don’t know if it’s in Spider-Man 2 as well.

I think the swinging part was great. You got the perfect latino/black sound down and I felt that exaggerated swagger you were talking about😂. The music on the stealth part was good, that was done really well . The combat music started off intense as it should be, but.. it got a little relaxed later on. Overall I thought it was good. You got a new subscriber and I wish you many more.

i love this. my main critique is i would really reinforce those strong orchestra elements in that swing song. imo thats what gives us what weve come to known as that grandiose "spidey" sound and while it was present it felt a bit underwhelming where i felt like just strengthening those would take this to an entirly diffeent level. of course tho thats just MY opinion. i love this.

the difference in sauce between movie miles and game miles is so wild. its clear they tried to emulate the representation from the movies, but it jus feel way too corporate compared to movie miles stepping out the house in chicago 1s, dapping his folks up wit a brooklyn accent, and switching to spanish effortlessly, with a artist that both young black men and young hispanic men actually know about playing in the background 💀

I love the acoustic flares during the right music, it kinda makes me sad there weren't any acoustic guitar beats (idk the musical term for palming the body for percussion) because there were a few moments after a game punch it kept popping into my head Smooth stuff!

It sounds nice. Had to listen to it a second time to actually like it. It was weird hearing it at first. Also, I would say kudos to getting the gentle soothing guitar to kind of work with the trap hip hop beats in the song. I have no idea about anything music related, but as an audience listening to it, it sounded nice the second time i heard it but a little weird and needing to get used to when i heard it the first time, the guitar that was soothing clashed a little with the hip hop beats, since you want to incorporate the guitar. Maybe a way to not make it clash with the beats of hip hop is to play the guitar in a way that it doesn't produce the sound that it usually does(?) I'm not sure if this is easy to understand but if you take a look at Led Zeppelin for example, some of their songs, the drums is at the forefront making the melodies while the guitar is the tempo setter, by playing it in a way that is not usually played. I know Led Zeppelin is rock, and this track sounds more like flamenco style because you wanted to incorporate the Hispanic/Latino aspect. But the guitar sound/way it was played is very synonymous to hispanic/latino culture so the sound of the guitar will just link them together, so just having that instrument and playing a little flamenco style but then switching it up by playing it in a way that it is not usually played would maybe make the song more harmonious(?) i think. But im no expert man and you put a lot of effort in this. This is in no way a critic, I was just being honest and I think that would benefit you more than a generic supportive comment. I enjoyed the track and wish you make more of these!! You are awesome man.

Absolutely amazing how you fit every single movement in the gameplay with the music. The only thing i personally would've changed is the guitar for something more Puertorican than Spanish. (At least to ME it sounded a little bit too european) I would've make it more of a reggaeton mixed with hip-hop. However it is literally fire as it is 🔥
