Savage Jesus My mind didn't make the connection white=sperm. You may want to look into that yourself. I mean, come on it's stylish. I get it's not what it was intended but at least it looks cool.
Even worse, because when its torture by pain you know what you are getting as oppose to being tickled, at first it feels kinda good but when you can't stop it feels far worse than pain.
You forgot the undies on... every version of MGS1 except the US version. Johnny Sasaki is naked (with a blur) in the US version. That stands out as one of my best gaming memories, because I had a bunch of family with me while I was playing that scene and everyone laughed.
You missed Johnny being stripped down to his underwear in Japanese MGS1 instead of naked with pixelation like in the Western version. The same change is consistent across the two regions in Twin Snakes.
The Japanese powers that be are actually really sensitive about violence in there entertainments. It's different everywhere you go, in England they thought the very word ninja was too suggestive of violence so they had the Teenage Mutant "Hero" Turtles.
Even IN MGS4 they said Raiden's white blood was an outdated type, it makes no sense for every cyborg in the world to be using white blood in Revengeance
The white blood actually looked good so could of been added to all regions as an option. The tickle gun is something that Kojima would do anyway but is some unique torture. Imagine Boss explaining that he got tickled for information to his soldiers. That would be funny to hear.
...why is it I still feel so squeamish when seeing the bomb scenes? I've watched nearly every single episode of Criminal Minds, nearly all seasons of CSI(all other versions too), and NCIS and yet those bomb scenes still leave me feeling queasy.
So far I see Japan dislike extreme violence and sexuality depicted by realistic nature in games, while America dislike Extreme violence and nature depicted by fantasy and unrealistic nature in games. Games like Grand theft auto, mortal kombat, wolfenstein and doom get censored in japan, meanwhile games like tales of beseria, star ocean even yugioh, and some others get censored here. Almost as both America and Japan are opposites, but I do wonder if it is just the Game rating that causes this in the first place rather than the localization between both cultures.
While it didn't end up being removed, some staff didn't want Otacon to have Emma's blood on him after holding her in his arms. But Kojima insisted it stayed and in the end they thought it made the scene more emotional.
Makes me wonder if Death Stranding will get censored at all, especially if you take into account the fact that the game seems to be taking a gritty horror theme with what seems to be either Lovecraftian-esque creatures/some sort of Eldritch-looking beings.
I thought the game was japanese? how the original version can be censored? wouldn't be the overseas version that was actually changed? to have more violence? how this even work...?
Something like this [not exactly though] (Step 1) The developer makes the game the way they want, with all the violence and sexual content intact. (Step 2) Games go through localization, so Japanese version is less violent, US version is less sexual. (Step 3) Game is reviewed by Ratings Board (ESRB or CERO) and a rating is given. (Step 4) If the publisher wants a lower rating, they make more changes - Japanese get less violent, US gets less sexual.
The search for the package in Paz belly was brutal, incoherent and unneccesary, when I saw it first time I thought "damn, Kojima has crossed the line, this isn't a game, this is cheap guro"
Nice one, can you do a compilation for God of War when the new game is coming soon? I just played God of War 2 HD and noticed some CGI butt was not there in original Ps2 game!
To be clear, isn't it CERO doesn't force them to change it but rather the Publisher/Developer changes it to achieve a lower rating so it can be bought by a wider audience?
although i agree with kojima about how games should be able to express the same thing movies can i dont think these cases are that bad, its some pretty bad gore being done to someone still alive, a young girl no less so it is pretty shocking, of course shocking was the point of it but atleast the scenes are preserved as much as possible rather than being cut completely like the would have been if this was done years ago. the change to the electrocution scene is dumb though.
Damn.. i don't know what to think about this.. on one side I do like the freedom, but on the other I really don't know if so much gratuitous viollence really helps the story...
Showin the horrors of war not glorifyin it if actually pay attention to MGs message it's deep and good..wouldn't be surprised nearly everythins gettin censored these days
JeonxSomi's Husbando and another throwaway Bamco product that I flat-out refuse to buy and play even for free Also, Saints Row 4 complements in-game/in-universe VR to its most absurd better, and I ain't boasting.
I'm sorry to inform you that they did do some censoring in Metal Gear Survive, it was to hide the crap... they failed! On a more serious note, i complely agree with Kojima at 3:17 on the pushing the boundaries in games, but that will be impossible with all the fragile little snowflakes in the world who believe everyone needs to be protected from everything, whether they want to or not. I only believe children should be protected from things that might harm them, if your an adult (and as long as it's not illegal), you should make the choice yourselves, oh and parents should be fucking parents, not the bloody government! There, my 2 cents.
Its funny how japan and usa has the opposing censoring taste usa dont like nudity and likes violence japans the other way around and yes this comment is heavily exacerbated....
Sometimes Kojima says the dumbest things. What exactly is symbolic about a man having his hands in the intestines of a woman and her insides spilling out?
That you mention it on the bomb that gets taken out is a Peace sign on it thats an eg symbolic..MGs filled with symbols if pay attention but as some say "don't understand it"
I don't udnerstand why people care about the ratings, though. Who are you even trying to sell the game to, and when was the last time any consumer gave a shit about the ratings? Jimmy's overprotective mother sure as hell ain't. SHe'll just coimplain about game violence, AFTER purchasing. The teens wouldn't give a shit. Video game sales aren't as regulated as porn rentals in the 90s. Anyone can grab GTA and leave. The kids can't even buy the game alone anyway. They don't got the cash. They'll get the parents to buy them anyway.
Japan is worse than America for censorship. Look at all the violence and blood that HAS to be censored. For American releases it's usually a slight wardrobe change (which is still awful, but not as drastic). It is weird considering the horrifying Anime that is fine.
RevampedSpider no, women need to get over it. They barley make up 10% of gamers. Sex sells and they ruin sales by moaning. It is awful that women are censored in the west but men arent because we simply dont give a fuck.
Censoring games due to age ratings doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I don't buy the emotional "they destroy the message of our game" rants. It's more of an economical decision. Higher age rating means less potential buyers. Places like Germany and Australia have it worse where uncensored versions of some games are flat out banned even for adults.
never understood why Japan censors blood in videogames when they have movies like Tokyo Gore Police, and battle Royal, not to mention Anime like Blood-C
