Okay guys in this video I do into detail about how Michael Crichton created Jurassic Park! I talk about the writing process, his research and even go all the way up to when the movie was being made! Everything from the first Jurassic film, The Lost World, JP3 and both Jurassic World movies owe everything to Crichton! Fallen Kingdom mined a LOT of stuff from the novel and I'm sure Jurassic World 3 will do so as well! This is where it all began! From kids love of dinosaurs to paleontology all of it can be traced back to the author and his relationship with Steven Spielberg! Hope all you JP fans enjoy! :D

I once wrote to Michael Crichton by sending him a letter through the publishing company of Jurassic Park. He sent a signed postcard in return saying, "Thanks for writing! Best wishes" and signed it at the bottom. I use it as a bookmark whenever I re-read Jurassic Park or The Lost World.

Crichton's legacy will forever live on in our memories. It's amazing to think that the idea of someone to clone a pterasaur would lead to 2 amazing books,5 and future 6 beloved and disliked films, countless toy's (except the downfall that were the JW toy's), a large amount of comics, multiple video game adaptations including the beloved JPOG witch to this day has an active community thanks to mods (looking at you JWE) and fanfics some great others not so much ( It's not raptor DNA and Why so Blue are the best one's in my opinion) and most important of all the millions of fans all over the world. As for how the movie franchise will continue, well that is for his family to figure out.

I love how the way John Hammond written represent the story he's in, or vice-versa. In the book, he was described as "Dark Side of the Walt Disney" (he care more about the profit than the safety of everyone else), which is reflected by the more violent nature of the book compared to the movie, as well as his ironic death, as it was written for adult. In the movie that's full with sense of awe and wonder, which incorporated more of the original idea, John is such an affably, jovial old man, that want his dinosaurs to be seen by everyone (a Light Side of the Walt Disney, if you will), which resonated with this Walt's quote: "I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty."

What made the book awesome was that the science behind it wasn’t outlandish. It felt possible. And the discussions of palaeontology, genetics, mathematics, paleo botany, park management. There was A LOT of genuine science behind the strike. And I think the best kinds of books are the ones that feel genuinely real.

I knew all of this except the amount of times Crichton re-wrote the book. Didn't realise how much he wanted to make the child perspective work. Though it didn't help that critics didn't know why they didn't like it

Someone actually thought that Claire's personality was changed between JW and Fallen Kingdom, because although Claire might have had a little bit of sympathy for the dinosaurs, she was nowhere near the animal rights activist that she was from the get-go in FK.

I believe the critics wanted Jurassic Park to be a story for an adult . So I think that’s a better story . But after the book was published and became a success kids stated reading it and Crichton asked is it any good and they sat yeah It’s good .

Ive been a HUGE Crichton fan since my 8th grade teacher told our class about the book, and how that summer it was going to be a movie. I remembered their was a copy of the book shelves downstairs at home. I started reading it that night, all day during school (We had standardized testing so after I finished a test I read between them.) I literally read the book in 2 days. Ive been a fan of Jurassic Park and Crichton's work ever since. That said, he obviously took his Westworld theme park idea and translated it over. I honestly didnt know until last year as I TORE through all his books first, but avoided his early movie directing career. Last year I decided to go through his IMDB database of the movies he had directed or written, and Westworld was his first movie he wrote and directed. When I watched it Jurassic Park made complete sense as a better itineration of the original theme park idea.
