I had been using the same cheap Smith helmet for 6-7 years because it was all I could afford, but it never fit quite right. Went into the park this season and fell off a very low box and my helmet just came off my head a good 2-3 inches with only the strap keeping it on. It was at that point that I finally upgraded. Helmets are the most important gear you have, and you should *never* skimp on one. Wear your helmet, and keep shredding dudes.
I finally pulled the plug and bought a new helmet after 20 years with the same helmet 😳. Went full in and bought a Sweet Grimnir with MIPS. Thanks for a good video.
My MIPS helmet took care of me a couple weeks ago. Was a little loopy for a couple hours, but here I am still standing. It was a brand new helmet in October of 2023. I actually replaced it after my fall. Just didn’t want to take the chance. I’ve never whacked my head that hard before and it definitely got my attention. Glad you’re safe and sound bro. Shit happens fast.
Smith Altus. I sure didn’t want to buy another one, but I also scared myself a little and I’m trying to give myself whatever advantage possible. At least it was on clearance because of end of season. I would like to try the brand you use, maybe it would fit me well. The Smith fits nice. Next time.
Good video. I used to work in a ski and snowboard shop and a Mom came in one day livid because her son had broken his helmet. She couldn't accept that his helmet had broken so that his skull hadn't. She never got the refund she demanded but at least her son was alive.
Wow! I’ve had similar in ski retail. Education I guess…. Eye opener for me was on instructor training when a guy I respected caught there edge on a green from pretty much stationary and there helmet cracked… at that point I was like a helmet is a must
