The cameras never do it justice do they? Looks like a great summer in the Uk. We got a late start to summer here in CH, but looking forward to the mountains as well.
@@Simonjburgess I always stay at Scales Farm. I finished off all but 4 of the Eastern and Far Eastern Wainwrights. Got 72 left to do now. I just love the Lake District - awesome
I've been wearing my Arcteryx Aerios GTX fl 2 low for 2,5 years, primarily in autumn/winter/early spring (-20 C to +10 C). Love them! Durable, despite TPU tape peeling off a little (though it doesn't affect waterproofing). Unfortunately, barely wearable in warm weather -- they don't breathe well due to membrane
@@SimonjburgessThe highest point in Denmark is 200 meters above see level,AT THE MAX 🏌🏾but I live in Odense (on the island Fyn/Funen)and the worse climb here,is ; Bolbro bakke/hill,and there is an actually a spectacular wiev on the top.Danes travel a lot 😉. Bye bye my unknown friend 🙏
As I live in Switzerland we did 2 years ago a ski camp with our school. The first day was extremely snowy, almost a blizzard (snowflakes were hurting a little bit). But the following days where nice wheather. It was the most enjoyable week I had.
Very informative video . I was lucky enough to visit just before Covid hit and loved Samoens.I ski out of busy periods normally but with 3 young grandchildren I will be skiing more at peak times so yes for those many skiers young and old this issue needs sorting
Hi William, thanks for watching and your comment. Completely agree that this needs addressing. With young skiers in tow the rush to beat the queue is not realistically going to happen. Especially if you need to drop at ski school etc. As someone who LOVES Samoëns, I do hope they can sort this
Magic Pass is superb, but there is very limited cheaper accommodation in Switzerland. I skied for 5 weeks this past season and found the cost of accommodation to bring the overall cost way above going to one of the top French resorts for the same duration.
It’s I suppose a case of where you are prepared to sacrifice. If I compare Grimentz and Val Thorens, my Grimentz accommodation is cheaper than one week in Val Thorens and is nicer and for a much longer duration. VT accommodation was the worst apartment I’d ever stayed in and still paid lots for it. Location was great but that was about. My Saas Fee accommodation this year is more expensive and I’m staying in Saas Grund. But there were way cheaper/less nice options available in Saas Fee but for this trip I prioritised comfort. All swings and roundabouts
@@Simonjburgess I agree. We can find perfectly cheap accommodation. The luxury accommodation is expensive though and random taxi rides can be extortionate. A well placed trip can be great value and the prices for a drink in the Valais are much better than in the three valleys
That’s the hardest part. Travel I drive most trips. That’s either because I’m sharing with others to drop the cost or I take my dog. Food.. I don’t eat out much, lots of home cooked food and this goes for lunch on the mountains… sometimes a splurge on food happens but it’s not my regular. Stays - I’ve booked AirBnBs within driving distance/linked by transport of multiple resorts. This is how I will be able to travel between and see a few. Staying slightly lower and travelling up makes a big difference for cost. For example staying in Saas Grund and using the free buses to access Saas Fee. When I visited Anzere I stayed in a small village 20 min drive away. This also meant I was able to visit lots of other resorts as well. If you need any help planning or bouncing ideas let me know,
Ovronnaz should definitely be on your list to explore considering its size. Furthermore, Arolla (espace dent blanche) might be the hidden jewel of the magic pass resorts. Incredible, quiet powder runs above 2000m.🤗
This is just such jolly news I would love to try skiing but the uk is just rain and a bit more rain Your my favourite skiing RU-vidr and I’m soo exited to see were your content goes 🤯🥶🥶🥶
Congratulations bro, getting some nice sponsorship... as you should. Magic pass kinda sells itself doesn't it? I always reccomend bying it at the starting rate, and I did so again this year. I'll be hitting the mountains just as often in summer as I do in winter... the views still don't miss. Gondol, or chair lift up... walk, scooter, BBQ, lake's and sun all the way down. Don't sleep on the summer experiences with it if possible.
Thanks mate. Definitely, would love to arrange a chat at some point to pick your brains about Magic Pass in summer… it’s on the plans with some glacier skiing added in… if you are keen to catch up can you drop me a email and we can sort something out.
Great video 😊 Yes Madonna is my favorite ski area...until now I have always had a wonderful time and perfect weather... Only thing with this area that sometimes is a bit crowded, especially with ski school's... Enjoy your life mate😊 and definitely SUB to your channel 😎
Thank you! Awesome to find other people who love Madonna… I am a massive fan. You are right about the crowds at time but if you are clever with where you head and the times you move past the crunch points you can avoid them. Appreciate the SUB and stay in touch
Arc'teryx.
I'm now 59. I first went skiing in 7 years ago in VT. I have been to several other resorts since but we always come back to VT. Was there 3 weeks ago :-)
@@SimonjburgessWe like exploring new places for example we went to Cortina Jan 23 however we waisted 2 days finding our way around so did not get any real serious skiing done till day 3 same with Wengan. What is nice at VT is arrive Saturday ski all day Sunday knowing exactly where to go and where to eat and drink in the evenings. Don’t get me wrong we are still finding places to eat and drink and still loads of slopes to try for example still not been to the 4th Valley. But it’s nice to revisit old spots and slopes as well.
I found your videos this season and I have enjoyed the info and way you present it. I'm curious how you work and ski so much. Like you I had an epic pass with a view to working UK hours on US time (this being able to board in the US day). However with a bad season there I ended up in Europe which is quite limited on the Epic pass. A tips video for maximizing a season would be good. I'm off to check out the magic pass!
Thank you, I really appreciate that comment! I think the Epic in Europe is only going to get better. Crans Montana meant to be added this year… and I’m sure they’ll keep at it. Regardless I loved Andermatt so that would keep me occupied with the odd trip to the 3 Valleys and Dolomites etc! Magic Pass though is soooo good. Many of the resorts are smaller lesser known resorts which often means no crowds! There are also some bigger names like Saas Fee on there as well. For me, I’m a teacher, so every school break is a ski holiday for me with a couple of weekend trips chucked in as well. Trying to maximise the time off as much as possible. I hope you can find a solution that works well for you!
The very first time I rode a T-Bar lift on a snowboard was at Blackcomb back in 2006, I didn't think I was going to make it but there was a French Skiier who helped me make sure I wouldn't fall but I made it to the top.
Hi iam a solo snowboarder and looking for French ski resorts thinking of coming to samoens just got back from alpe d huez would this be a good choice and are there lots of ski lifts to get the slopes from town
Hey, I love Samoëns. If you are going to stay in the village I would advise taking the ski bus to Vercland and head up the gondola from there. This is usually less crowded. The town is below the resort, if you want to be able to ski back to your apartment then consider Flaine. Any other questions give me a shout
@@whatsgoingon3822 yeah I hear you. I’ve stayed in Morillon, Samoëns, Les Carroz and Flaine. You can access the resorts pretty easily from all of them. What month are you planning to travel?
The Grand Massif does a pretty good job of keeping their parks well maintained. They are small but pack a lot in… would you visit a place just for the parks?
