I believe the earliest Carhartt buttons had the ('s) at the end. They dropped the apostrophe in the early 1900s. I found a similar one near some railroad tracks in my hometown. I researched when the tracks were laid and learned that was in the 1890s. So, it very likely it's a first year issue lost by a railworker. Love this hobby!

Did that 1910 Lincoln profile look different then?---I'm wondering if that handle could have been from an old Hoosier cabinet?---I'm always amazed at the research you do & the histories of various objects you're able to uncover!---This never gets old! (And getting to hear the birdsong in your part of the country, different from mine!)
