HOW MUCH DID IT COST TO REBUILD A 40 YEAR OLD ENGINE AND WHAT BROKE? 

Great to see the young man showing an interest and getting involved. All to many kids have not got a clue now days about how anything works, your doing a great job there.

Really good video, love the bit about making sure there is no-one in the house when you bring the engine stand in! Reminds me of the time, many years ago, I used to repair hi-fi/audio equipment for a living. I was called to collect a Marantz (high end at the time) amplifier for repair from a small terraced house. In the lounge, the only items were an old 2 seater settee, a full Marantz hi-fi system with the biggest pair of speakers you have ever seen, a TV, and 3 completely dismantled motor-bikes! Needless to say, the guy lived there on his own.

Love build videos, i bet most wives would go mad and kick you out into the garden for bringing an engine into the kitchen to work on 😁

Are they well served for parts? Most Fiats Ive had, especially the classic pandas are decently served for parts availability as they were built from 1980-2003 in Italy, and were pretty popular over here too. Fiat don't stock much for them anymore, but places like partsworld bought up all the official stock, and ebay was always good The Lada is by far the best served car Ive ever had, near as I can make out Ladapower has just about everything down to the screws and washers, and diagrams and part numbers to make it much easier. Just wondering what its like out there for the classic Rover group stuff like your montego

I didnt see you put the crank thrust washers on the lower half of the crank ?

I would love to know if them shims and buckets are the same as the E series MAXIS PRINCESSES WEDGE 6 and AUSTIN 2200 ALLEGRO 1500/1750 ? they are hard to come by here in Australia

I can't believe they were still using that stupid shim system on the O Series! What a ball ache. It goes back to at least the Rover P6 engine.

At 10:12 when the sump gasket is placed (Bottom left), it covers two holes in the block. Was that the incorrect gasket?
