My lola lived up to 103, because she ate a lot of veggie dishes with very little meat too. She's from the Abra province, which has a very healthy environment as well.

It's great that some Filipinos are still going strong in their 80s and staying physically active. But the reality is the average life span in the Philippines is 72 years, whereas Canada is 83 and the US is 80. Diet, physical activity, emotional support, good genes and social factors all come to play.

I respectfully disagree with your analysis of the elderly being more independent in the Philippines than Canada. The reality is that most elderly in the Philippines are dependent on their children financially and to provide a roof over their heads. In Canada, elderly people live independently on their own and don't depend on their children financially. Society in the West accommodates the elderly much better with wheelchair access on the side streets, better healthcare services that are free, home delivery of food, para-transit services that feature custom-built buses that can accommodate wheelchairs for mobility-impaired seniors, and community outreach programs for the elderly. The elderly also live much longer in Canada. It's very common to find seniors over the age of 85 still living on their own in Canada and able to get out to grocery stores in their own cars. You rarely ever see anyone in a wheelchair in the Philippines because they don't have the infrastructure in the cities to support wheelchairs. That means many elderly are confined to their homes.

100% true. Their definition of “independent” is limited and lacks depth.

That's all true, but what he's saying I think is that his grandma is independently moving around on her own and still have the strength to do things without physical assistance and at the same time looking healthy and not sickly at her age compare to those he took care of in Canada when he was in the health field.
@artvandelay409
@artvandelay409 6 месяцев назад
@@sidlee7205 I don't think he meant that at all. He never said that anyways. Besides, he worked in a hospital where he provided care to very sick people. You can't make a fair comparison to someone who is sick in hospital to someone who is not sick at all.

Words from a young family to live by! The biggest hurdle that people have is the Fear of Change! The purpose of the $1,000,000 is for people to be able to survive their future mistakes. I love this video as I wish I had seen this 30 years ago. At 62, I'm not yet retired and I have a great job. My focus is preparing for that retirement in a handful of years while getting my daughter through college. Contrast that to the life you've lived. What people don't see is the grinding you did for a number of years to save everything you could in order to realize your dream. You just decided at some point it was enough. It's a great philosophy to have as you know that we are never promised tomorrow. Now, you are doing a different type of grinding in the PI, but it's grinding for your dream! Ok, that's enough words from the boomer! Be sure to enjoy your dreams!

To those that don't have millions, please don't judge us as we didn't necessarily work that hard to reach two, three or five million. A lot of people with high net worth let their investments work for them while they slept like a baby at night. Of course there's an initial grind but that's just like any plane that needs to take off from the ground to reach altitude.

You're so lucky you've left work at an early age. Most people can't do that. They work beyond retirement age of 65. But I admire you both because you've got the guts to leave work and pursue your dream of having a resort. When do you think your resort will open. I would love to visit it in the not too distant future. Thank you for the update.

Being Canadian citizens, you don't have to worry about healthcare. I would love to retire now, but the US does not have universal healthcare; hence, work until I've reached that "comfortable blissful lifestyle" and the ability to afford healthcare out of pocket. I do hope you two succeed in the Philippines. You've worked too hard not to succeed.

Hi i’m sorry to say this. But those dog are really uncomfortable for them. Please let them lose inside your home. If you can’t take care of them just put them to the shelter. Dogs need activities like us. Imagine being in the cage all day? If you can imagine the the jail. You can still walk around. We us filipino need to change this. My dog is roaming in my house potty trained , This is really sad. That lady is cleaning the cage too?? If you leaving in simple life. Take those dog outside the cage please!!

Just remember that healthcare in Pinas is so expensive. Living in the province is cheaper but when it comes to healthcare, doctors doesn't have advance medical knowledge. Hospitals are ill equipped. If you need a more complex tests, procedures or major surgery, you have to go to Cebu or Manila. It ain't cheap. Major surgery cost 1.5 million pesos.

one million US is the equivalent to a pension of $3k per month for the rest of your life (1.3m $4K monthly) ($670K at $2K monthly) so how much do you need? lol - wait till 70 to claim Social Security for absolute max (benefits you if you live beyond 80) - my projected Social if I wait till 70 is between 4-5K monthly - if I retired this moment could live on about $2.5K monthly till 70 then $4-5K on top - wouldn't be easy in the US but easy to live off either in the phil's ... let alone stacked, lol

Question: Why don’t we just hire a property manager and rent out our primary residence in the United States. We’ve all been working our whole lives to pay it off. Then retire on the rental income in the Philippines or Thailand?
