Hey guys, welcome to a new video! Today I thought I would give you an inside about how much a hospital doctor in germany earns, based on the social system and tax system. Obviously this is a huge topic with many layers and it would take hours to speak about everything, so please leave me questions down below! I hope you find this video helpful and I will see you soon! :)

Hello, could you please tell us how to choose a district? I'm so confused and scared i might end up at the wrong place.
@anotherpersiandoctor
@anotherpersiandoctor 11 месяцев назад
Hi dear, I would totally first visit the district you are thinking about before you make a decision! When you apply for a job, you will eventually visit the city anyways and you might take a few days extra to explore the area. The districts here can be quite different to each other and you should get a sense for the area you might live for a while :) honestly, there is always a possibility to end up in a wrong place, but it is super easy to move away and apply for another job in another district. You organise everything yourself, there is no contract which holds you in a certain area etc. So don''t be scared! Oh and also, when you apply for your approbation in the beginning, it really doesn't matter which district you choose, you might apply for your approbation in lets say Hamburg, but you can still apply for a job in Berlin.

Thanks for the video. It's really helpful. Let's say your base salary is €4000, and your additional income from Schichtdienst (shift work) is €500 Is it only the base salary of €4000 that gets taxed or your total income which is €4500?
@anotherpersiandoctor
@anotherpersiandoctor Год назад
Glad to hear! The shift work gets taxed as well! The shift work of a first year Doctor is around 500-700 Euros, but this is after removing taxes and social levy. Officially, it is 900-1200 Euros before removing the duties. So lets say the base salary is 5000/month + 1000 euro of shift work. You have 6000 Euros. After removing taxes and social levy, you'll end up having around 3500-3700 Euros per month for yourself directly on your bank account. hope this helped, I know this topic is a bit complicated 😂

Hi , is Germany keen to take international medical graduates? ( Non eu citizen)? I heard there is a shortage of doctors.
@anotherpersiandoctor
@anotherpersiandoctor Год назад
Hi, yes you are right! I have so many colleagues from Syria, Iran, India and specially Turkey and more at my team! It is nowadays very common to work with internationals here! The only obstacles are the german language (you need to speak at a B1-B2 level) and a lot of paper work! I am actually thinking of making a video about that :)

@@anotherpersiandoctor Hi there, I have another quick question. I was wondering if it's possible for consultants in Germany to work for 8-9 months and then take a break of 3-4 months (like a holiday or something) [after completing their full training (residency) of course] I've seen some of my seniors doing this in the UK and USA. Is a similar arrangement possible in Germany? Thanks!
@anotherpersiandoctor
@anotherpersiandoctor Год назад
@@Joker-2357 Hey, yes this is very much possible, specially if you discuss this with the head of department before you start working at the hospital! There are "sabbaticals" which are unpaid breaks but you will keep your job and this can be discussed with the employer. I have consultants who did that :) If you are working at a prestige and competitive hospital, like an university clinic where there are many applicants, it can be very difficult to take months off.

As for learning the language, I was born in Germany so speaking german comes naturally to me but you can learn the language as you would with every other language, booking courses via language schools (online, offline), apps, internships, youtube, etc 😊

Hello there! 4800€ is the salary without the tax deductions? How much are we left with after all the deductions? Cos I read somewhere the other way and I’m confused/
@anotherpersiandoctor
@anotherpersiandoctor Год назад
Hello, yes it is without taxes! so if you have tax class one like I do, you will have 2900-3400 Euro in the end with all deductions! 2900 is the minimum base and you add night shifts, weekend shifts etc. on top of that so you can get up to around 3400 Euro per month. And this will increase with each year of work experience :)
