Thanks! Making your own RC boat might not be much cheaper than an RTR, but the quality and performance is easily surpassed. And just the reward of a DIY build is worth the effort 😎✌️

Excellent cost analysis for both versions, and thank you for the very useful links. You can always save a few $ if you buy bolts, nuts and stainless steel rods in bulk from local hardware stores. Oh and thank you for your reply 😉!

Thanks Peter, I appreciate that! I would say I'm a busy guy too. If you have enough drive and motivation, you could definitely build one. But I don't watch any streaming service and I don't play video games 😅✌️

I've just built a 1 meter cabin cruiser with twin Tfl outboards . Still haven't run it . Wife bought a 67 impala that was supposed to be restored, full of rust . Busy making new panels and welding for months now. The boats are just collecting dust. But I will build a nice tunnel hull soon as I can. We only have 1 tunnel hull, TFL Caldwell. Very cool boat but not as nice as the ones you build.

Put like that it looks expensive. But the truth is we get the stuff bit by bit as we are building it and it “feels” a lot cheaper. Especially compared to a car or helicopter. Besides, a lot wood, glue and fiberglass and epoxy ends up not being used and is good for the next model. The cozy is a Nice boat btw. It will be my next build ( I first saw it in intlwaters blog) Thanks for sharing the plans.

Exactly! I feel the same way. Adding it all up is confronting 😅. But like you say, you build up a stock of building supplies and the next build seems cheaper already. Also, buying the building materials and hardware step by step is easier for convincing your wife 😅
