I am on the lookout for someone that could give me an idea of what the cost of living is on the island, you came pretty close, thank you for that! Been living in Thailand for little over a year now but far up north and the price comparison is HUGE! I am planning on moving there in a few months and need some comparisons.
My problem on the islands/Thai countryside is that I don't (will not) ride motorbike. That limits you a lot, both in daily life and on a shorter visit. Songthaews are fine on the ring road, but not elsewhere.
Hi Viktor, what is your reason for not wanting to ride a motorbike? Granted, I understand that they can be dangerous, but if you're a good rider, it's okay out here. You just have to be aware at all times!
Think my other comment got marked as spam because I sent a loom link in it, but would be good to see videos on 1) Riding motorbikes in Samui, recommendations, tips (things that might be different to the uk, like turning right into traffic on a busy road) 2) How the visa extension stuff works, how the visa on arrival works, etc Other than that, good video mate. Heading to Samui myself to work + train on the 24th, will be in a hotel for 2 weeks and see whats what from there

How do people, especially retired people adjust to the extremely hot and humid weather that has the effect of draining one's energy? Do people confine themselves to aie conditioning 24/7??
Very nice area! How are prices in general on Samui? Sadly, no way to avoid loud motorcycles [hardly] anywhere in Thailand. As soon as the sun goes down the Police go to bed and kids start ripping from village to village. Quick language lesson. Men use khrup (sometimes pronounced cup) Women use Kha. 😁
I live in BKK and Jomtien since years , was there for 10 days february 2022 , total desolation , all shut down , like being in a far west movie era . a complete joke of a place .
