Chris, I am glad my video was useful to you. A lot of the cost depends on the condition of the boat. A new boat will cost less in maintenance than an older boat and a neglected boat will cost the most.
@@todddunn945 I have found several well maintained wooden lobster boats for sale for around $30,000, with recent hull work and surveys but there is a limited market for them (good for me). Before this video I had planned on around $10,000 a year with half for yearly expenses and the other half to save for five/ten year restorations and repairs. Hope you’re enjoying the mild weather for your winter projects!
never would have guessed how expensive it is to maintain. However I gather you enjoy this very much so its worth it. living where you are at- priceless!
Well, except for the hull repairs it is about the same as my fiberglass boat. The biggest cost is where you keep the boat. Here that comes down to Winter storage and summer quarters. However, that is true for any boat.
I am glad you found the video useful. I do have to say that working out the actual cost for my boat was a bit of a painful experience since the total came out higher than what I had convinced myself I was spending. Oh well, it is useful to be realistic. Owning a boat is not a cheap hobby.
