As a Da Nang local, there are some reasons I can think of why we dont go to the beach during the day. First of all, schools start at 7, so kids and teenagers will have to prepare since 6 AM and get to school super early. Parents will have to take their kids to school too so a lot of people wont be able to go to the beach. Workplaces start working from 7 (some places at 8) too. Unlike people in the West who eat break fast and have coffee at home early before going out in the morning, we go out to eat after we left home and the time between 6 to 8 is for that purpose. It gets really hot and uncomfortable from 9 to 3 PM to swim or play at the beach anyway. Renting chairs in the shade is also a tourist thing to do (kinda) so we just wait til the sun goes out to swim or go to the beach super early in the morning.
@marshallandaimee
@marshallandaimee Год назад
Yes! These are all great examples. 😊 I definitely agree that getting a beach chair is very touristy and most of the time we just sat in the sand with the locals. Two of our favorite memories were waking up for sunrise with the locals and walking down the beach in the evening. You guys are so lucky to have that beautiful beach to enjoy every day. 💕 Thank you for this deeper insight as to why most Da Nang residents don’t go to the beach during the day!

Vietnam's beach cities are really cool. The local Vietnamese come out around 5:30am to 7am to swim and just do exercise then they walk/go home to have breakfast and go to work and school. They avoid the intense hot sun and leave the beach empty for foreign vacationers to enjoy. Then around 4:30pm they finish work, stop by to exercise and get a quick swim then go home to eat dinner with their family/friends. How healthy of a lifestyle is that?!? As for the dragon bridge, Western dragons are seen as destructive animal whereas Vietnamese sees dragons as giant savior of the country and bring prosperity and life, ie a more benevolent animal. Did you notice the eyes of the dragon bridge is in the shape of a heart? It breaths fire as its strength but it brings water and life to the land. As for cost of living in VN, it's not just the low cost but the high quality and freshness of the food. You guys should try their fruit smoothies as well, talk about getting bang for your bucks, true tree-ripened fruits.

Such an incredible lifestyle! It seems so peaceful and relaxed. 🙂 We truly feel like we found paradise in Da Nang and so few people talk about it! That is so true about the Western depiction of dragons! We never thought about it that way. The quality of ingredients and what you get for your money might not be better anywhere else in the world. ❤

The Dragon Bridge totally lives up to one's expectations, especially the water surprise. I had the same reaction you guys did! It's so cool and such a brilliant idea -- obviously tourists come, but clearly tons of locals join in the fun. What a great way to get people into the city on the weekend nights. And the bridge is also cool looking at night as well.

I never got the answers of the video in the title… lol! I was waiting for the cost of traveling to Vietnam versus daily cost in Vietnam;) One more thing about da nang, even though you guys only eat at the bahn mi shop near the hotel you guys are staying!! There are soo many spots around da nang for bahn mi sandwiches. One in particular makes a bahn mi sandwich in a very skinny baguette than usual. You guys need to try that and it’s less than a dollar a sandwich. There is a video about best Dan Nang bahn mi sandwiches and it can give you guys an idea of different options. Update - ba lan is the name of the shop that has tiny long baguette, but I believe there are others. I am from Europe living in the states and I’m jealous of America not having baguettes! Vietnam has adopted the best practicing of making the best breads in the world!! Yes, I said it!! Better than other breads from other cultures! Lol

@junito2899
@junito2899 Год назад
@@marshallandaimee just have to explore a little bit! I’m sure they have food stands that offer skinny baguette all over Vietnam. I was in Vietnam in 2008 and the funny thing is, I never even tried Vietnamese food until 2010 in San Diego, and it wasn’t planned at all. My favorite dish that’s not really popular per say, is a simple dish, but I can eat it everyday! It’s called Mi Xào Giòn, which is simply a bed of fried egg noodles which looks like a bird nest basket with juicy beef or chicken pieces, seafood if that’s your thing, and colored vegetables including Bok choy. So, it’s basically a health dish, but depends on what you put on it. I didn’t try Pho until about 2012…. I missed my chance in Vietnam to try the food while exploring the fake markets of electronics aka watches in sections of NHA Trang. Hopefully when I go this time, I will explore the local scene, and yes, I gave recommendations of Da Nang, but I haven’t been there yet, I just watched a bunch of videos in the best bahn mi and pho in certain channels and one channel not only showed you clips of best bahn mi sandwiches, it provided google map links to these places. Da Nang, seems like the place I want to visit first, then go from there. Eyeing Da Lat since it’s up in the mountains and has cooler weather, but it does have a river around the city.

We're not 100% sure but considering that beers are the same price if not less expensive right there at the beach it doesn't really make much sense to BYOB anyways. 😂 I will say that the women running the stand and renting the chairs saw the beers we brought and never seemed upset or told us not to drink them. This was also a one off thing so that could've been why. Congratulations on the move to Da Nang!! 😍 We can't wait to go back someday soon!

@@CoLeah ops! sorry, I looked at your name, so I thought you were Vietnamese. The above fees are for local students. If you are a foreign visitor, then the cost will be higher. This is not discrimination, but a difference in the daily menu. Students often cook by themselves (local dishes), so the cost fluctuates at about $230 per month (yes, my cost when i live at Hà Nội last year). As for tourists, who want to tighten their spending, their nomination is from $ 500 or less. Leah, please refer to the videos on the topic of "cost living in vietnam". These videos have a common feature that the rent is quite expensive. From $500 and up. you must choose cheaper rooms for rent, around $250 or less, the remaining $250 is comfortable for other essential needs. anyway, the daily expenditure (comfortable) of a Vietnamese person, including: breakfast Pho, noodle, bread... 1.5$, coffee or tea (2 drinks) 2$, lunch 2$ , dinner 2$.
