Great vlog. We travelled for 12 months in 2018-2019, covered 45000km. No kids, no pets, no motorbike. Free camped, but not if it wasn't convenient to what we wanted to see/visit. Travelled with the attitude that we weren't coming back, so seen everything we could no matter what it cost. All up we spent $65000.
Thanks for being so honest guys. A friend of mine has a stock Y62 and tows a 22ft caravan and still returns 15L/100ks on his last trip to NSW south coast
We free camp 90% of the time & our cost is roughly $40;000 all up.We were both posties ourselves, my wife did 30 years & I did 40 years! enjoy your adventures we were at Daley's Waters Pub when you guy's turned-up 😀
Families really have to watch caravan parks, can be a huge money pit for some. We are a family of 5 and caravan parks can get quite expensive.We can pay anything from 50 bucks to 130.The most expensive park we went to was also our best experience and one was just a waste of money.Best experience was BIG 4 in Airlie beach, cost a motsa(135 buck in 2016 a day) but worth every cent. Never saw the kids any when they wanted a feed, most relaxed holiday we had. Worst was Big 4 Renmark, gorgeous park manicured lawns, but in the middle of winter at 85 dollars a night biggest waste of money.Could not use the pools/play area was way to cold. We now use free camping or if we need power and water we use showgrounds if available(NSW has some great showgrounds) for around 20 dollars(some going up to 25). We still use caravan parks at our destination but we try to pick value ones and sometimes we splurge on resort-type caravan parks depending on our mood. I just follow the old grey nomads, they have worked it out, for value for money touring. Just go and DO IT!...
Exactly right mate! Having kids, especially if your a family of 5 or 6 would be getting pretty expensive with caravan parks! But when you find those absolute gems it makes it worth the cost!! Thanks heaps for tuning in and watching along mate! 🍻
It is not expensive when you think about it as it is about $500 a week just for rent if you where in a house. Its a matter of how people think about it. like you both said depends on where you go and what you do. love the video thank you.
Yeah exactly and for us comparing it to when we used to have a house expenses are way down! That wasn't really what we were comparing to in the video as not every one travels to live on the road but yes you are spot on. Thanks very much and thanks for watching!

We really enjoy how you talk to people and have the time as most don't so keep up the great work that you do. Loved your cape trips. They where the best. We loved them all really. Its a bit harder when you have a dog but its apart of the van life and working your way around it as we have 2 lol.

Hey Costa, thanks for that! I recommend download the app called Wiki camps, this shows you all of the free camps, paid, caravan parks, where you can get water etc etc we use it daily! Also download Hipcamp, you can find some amazing places on peoples properties! Literally everywhere we stay is on both of these apps mate, get out and enjoy!

Thanks Nicole, not a silly question! We just use Wikicamps and you can find taps in towns everywhere and fill up. We didn't free camp at the one spot we were moving around to different spots so you can top up with water when needed, love it! Thanks for watching!
Costing is a funny thing and is something people are curious about because we like to be organised. I would like to think I would spend the same as I do now just on different things. I don’t think it’ll be necessarily cheaper just different costs
Yeah for sure and look everyone’s situation is different that’s why we tried to break it down travel cost related as some people have no idea roughly what it will cost. Selling your house and having van life as your full time is different again but that wasn’t what this video was about, maybe down the track! Thanks for watching!
