Thank you for sharing. Prices have shot up so much compared to my past trips more than 10 years ago. Really omg… don’t save cash in bank for long term, inflation is a legalised robbery!
Absolutely! Your cash in the bank gets eaten up by the inflation monster. We don't remember HK being so expensive 7-8 years back but the reality now is that even eating out at roadside stalls will cost quite a bit
The political situation in HK is what would concern me. School teaching Mandarin and not Cantonese as well. What will HK look like in 10 or 20 years? Safe travels in HK and in China.
It will be good if you can make an analysis of the hotel accommodations cost in Hong Kong as compared to Singapore for the same star 🌟 category for the foreign visitors intending to travel to HKG? Thanks
Hotels in Singapore are still more expensive when compared to location and room size. A 4 star hotel in HK versus a 4 star in Sg = HK would be cheaper by $100-150 per night in Singapore dollars
Have you been to HK before? Do you find the food as good as before? My wife is from HK, so we go back often. We were just there last month and I thought the food wasn't as good as I remember.🤔 Maybe we are just getting better food in the US...?
Yes, we've both been to HK many times pre-covid. For dim sum, Guangzhou has the best dim sum for sure! However US and Australia has really good dim sum too, as many HK chefs migrated there. So for us, we are very selective when it comes to food in HK as we know that there are many misses as there are hits
HK is no longer attractive. Things are expensive and service level is terrible. Recent statistics also show that lesser mainlanders travel to HK to shop and eat. More & more Hong Kongers are also going to nearby Shenzhen to spend during the public holidays. There's also outflow of talents from HK. Today's StraitsTimes carries an article titled "Dear Hong Kong, Singapore is not your biggest rival", is worth reading. So, HK, better buck up.
Yes, absolutely spot on! We recently met a few local HKers on the train to Guangzhou. They head over there almost on a weekly basis to eat & shop as they were lamenting that the cost of living in HK is so high.
