Seriously, thanks for having the balls to upload this. You may have saved some people a tonne of money and highlighted how nefarious some aspects of the game can be. This event has been designed to get people to behave just as you just did. I'll leave it to others to decide if they think that's ok or not. Again, that took balls. Hope you feel ok.

I've used to be in the same boat with the drugs and alcohol, I'm now 2 years clean and I have to say spending money on this game brings back those bad memories of buying drugs and the regret when it's all said and done and you feel like you wasted your money...it's just not a good feeling to have any old feelings like those rushing back. Anyways good for you on your 5 years.

I hate the random packs. Just give me shards at a certain price and just discount them where you buy them in bulk. I dont touch the shard packs for this reason.

I too have been sober for around 5 years after my third stint in rehab. And as you mentioned, we discuss gambling in recovery and it’s danger for us. It affects the same area of the brain that rewards us and releases endorphins.

how can anyone defend this and say it's not gambling? The game creators have found a loophole in the law and they are exploiting it. - They aren't the only game creators to be doing it, but they are #1 in the play store for this type of game...so it's only going to encourage more companies to follow suit. I respect Belgium for laying down the law and not succumbing to bribery.

The reason these games are actually dangerous is, because of the nature of the human mind. As long as you not pay a dime, you are not involved, but if you start making payments.. After a while, you will realize, that you pay more and more, and that it is not easy to quit. This is called the "game theory". It is sort of an addiction, based on sacrifice. Once you "lost" enough money you start feeling remorse, but you will also feel that all your sacrifices will be without a reason, if you quit, and do not get wat you want, Victory. So you keep spending your money, and you are getting more and more desperate as your goal is getting closer. There is no winner however in these games, as thousands of people are playing and there always be a new character or a game update, and there always be a stronger gladiator, who have more in the pocket. These games are usually good, but highly addictive, well constructed by using the weak spots of the human mind, and worst than gambling, because you are gambling without a chance of winning back something.

This being your first time whaling out, speaks volumes to how genius the way they rolled him out was . It sucks but a really smart marketing move . No one is gonna quit over it either, we love it too much.

This is the perfect example of why the business model of this game is so utterly disgusting. It is gambling, and it takes advantage of people in horrible ways. And let's not forget that it's completely unnecessary. It's just greed. They could make an insane profit from just cosmetic options (imagine how much money they'd make off skins for Revan). Look how much money people spend on cosmetics for games like CS:GO, R6:Siege, LoL, etc. and you'll realise that the horrid nature of this game is just so unnecessary.

I was really hoping to see the shard currency you got from it too ! I also gave up Alcohol and Drugs and every time I buy just a single pack I get that feeling of wanting to buy more crystals to open a few more. Maybe the next one will be better type of thing. When you said it, I definitely understood the feeling and realized I never thought of it that way.

A normal marquee toon is $300-350 and you got 5 characters needed for Revan (6 characters) for $400.

Thank you for posting this and being real about it, no sugar coating it. The buyers remorse is real and its so unfair the way they monetize it. Shards for characters you have maxed shouldn’t keep dropping in those faction packs, its straight up gambling. I also understand what you mean about the drugs n alcohol relation you made, its very real. Thanks for the content, keep up the good work.

Thanks for being honest about your previous problems and great to see overcame them. In terms of the money spent - it shows this game is gambling. All that cash spent and you never got more than 20-30 shards per pack. IMO the level of greed of the companies will inevitably drive regulation.

I think the point of this video is that for $400, you can get 2! 7 star Bastilas. If the drop possibility were indeed equal, then there is no way that you get Bastila as often as you did. This IS a scam...

Hey man, I just wanted to say that - knowing your history from other videos - I was really worried about how you'd feel doing something like this, which is virtually the same as actually gambling. I was not dissappointed. EA wants this to be a game/something funny, but it can really throw people under the bus or in serious debt really easily. I am glad that you took the time at the end to share and to send out the message to others that may be going through something like this. You seem like a great guy, and even though I don't even know you outside of your videos, I'm happy that you are at a point where you are strong enough to go through this and share it with the world. I spent $460 5 days ago to 7* Gear 10 all of these, Bastila was already at 7* Gear 11. So, 4 characters cost me that much. I am now at work on night shift waiting to get off so I can actually get Revan lol.

I fell your agonizing pain as you kept rolling those Bastila shards after she already reached 7 star. I used to do a lot of sports gambling when I was younger. When I win, I got a really emotional high. But when I lost, I fell like I just threw away money and wanted to win it back on the next game. I remember my coworkers saying my personality changed to reserved and depress mode. Thanks for showing us it's not worth spending money on something control by chance.

I can buy a PS4 game for €50, which I can play forever and get updates. This mobile game is such a money grab. Playing gamble when people want to buy a specific object. I should be forbidden

Congrats on the rush feeling bad to you, MobileGamer. It's realllly easy to feel that rush, have the adrenaline (or whatever) take over, and feel positively about something that's clearly negative. It shows you've accomplished a lot in your recovery when you've gotten to the point where you can be exposed to something like this and still maintain a reality-based perspective. I feel bad watching this money disappear, but if you can drop $400, feel the weird gambling rush it creates, and then back away, you've done something.

The Revan requirements gave me the push to quit the game and this is the first video I've watched after avoiding them for a week. I gave up two 3m GP accounts and a HSTR guild which I was an officer in. Although I miss the people from the guild it's the end of the road for me. Thanks again

I’ll admit, I was thinking about “whaling” for Revan. 1st half of the vid, I thought, expensive, but why not just do it? Doesn’t seem to bad. At the end of the video, when you talked about anxiety and addiction and that “feeling” inside of you, it made me decide not to spend extra money to get revan. I have no problem with people that can / want to / do spend money. But, if you are the type of person that gets that uneasy, anxiety feeling, probably best not to go down that path. (BTW, I am not FTP, but I would categorize myself as just a small minnow)
