Hope you've all enjoyed the series! The car is now available for bids on eBay: bit.ly/is200auction As many of you have noticed, you have to be pre-approved before you're allowed to bid. This is a precaution we have to take to make sure that no one is scamming the charity. We are going through the process of pre-approving bidders now - thanks for your patience guys, and good luck to all bidders!
It's not often i upvote a video, but i just had to with this one! Keep making more series like these. :) Next time: Can we buy parts from eBay to get a Mercedes 190E to go around the track as fast as a stock Ford Focus RS?
in that case also remove water bottle , oil rad, air filter box altogether, rear muffler.. hell remove even alternator.. that battery will power up for a lap no issues :D
Keep it up with this series, id love to see this go on further... Maybe even do a 3SGTE swap into it ;-) not a 2JZ.. everyone has seen that. Really am loving this series!
Plus points for mentioning the prices of the parts used, it's always nice to know how much it would cost if you were to do something similar yourself =D Best part of the video was the shoe test, I love to see references to other car show ^-^ (Where was the exhaust fist test though?)
Tyler Vincent I imagine that renting a garage in the UK isn't exactly cheap so I would think that it would be sitting outside at some point and it is England so it will be raining.
He had the future in mind when he did this, see now water will leak in and it will rust so the car will have increasing weight reduction for the rest of it's life
dont need to add boost or engine swap to gain power, the is200 has vvti, and with what he has done with the addition of an induction kit and a standalone ecu, a proper dyno tune. it would be a big improvement. i have an is200, and the only thing that really kills the power is the ecu. toyota designed it to be unmappable. even if you get it remapped, it rewrites itself back to factory settings after about 2 weeks of avg driving.
Doubt he would get 15bhp with all the mods. n/a engines cost a lot to make any sort of power. Turbo is a much cheaper option. But I see a lot of these cars with Supercharger kits. I think you could buy them with one fitted as standard from japan or a special edition.
Me and my mates did a IS300 straight up to be a mountain killer and we did it all for under 10K USD from all of us. We installed Project U 4 & 2 pots all around with Eibach shocks and Blistein springs while running on "17 Tenzo DC6 V1 on Toyo T1R with total strip with a rollcage and some Recardo or Takata (I think it's a Takata Street Pro LE) and that's all for the chassis. While the engine had a Brian Crower Stage 2 Camshafts 264/264 camshaft, Titan Motorsport Racing Piston, a full custom headers and center pipes with a Cobra Sport back box and a remapped ECU from a MoTec M600 unit. All this work came up to about 315HP and that thing is a great machine to drive. Light, nimble and always on the rev counter.
This is my favorite video series on RU-vid because I'm going down this path with an IS300. I really wish you would have done the weight reduction last. The car is only useful on the track now. The GT86 is still a passenger car so having made it the benchmark it is a very unfair comparison. I'll still be on the lookout for the next episode. Keep up the fun..
as it is an older car your throttle cable will be loose so oh robably are only getting 90-95% of your throttle you can probably pick up a couple of tenths
Germaine Liew a majority of parts are but you can get REAL bc.rscong coilovers, engine , greddy turbos you just need to be skeptical and not buy the first thing you see
Trang Kateloy naaah it's a blue Honda Civic type r gt that's 10 months old and not road tax'd since march so I'm guessing it's off the road? Otherwise if it's reported the owner which I do hope is not you KRONICAL ARTIE, and I mean that, has to pay a large fine and risks having it confiscated. What's the deal with the car?
Taking doors off would affect structural rigidity substantially. I think he should remove the pass seat instead. It is pretty much worthless since it's broken
How did you choose the spring stiffness vs ride height vs sway bar stiffness? These parameters should be balanced well, otherwise the handling will suffer
Timur Iskhodzhanov exactly, they didnt go into detail on ANY actual suspension measurements, ride height reduction, rebound/compression adjustment, or even HOW to measure/tune any of it. lol all they did was slap them in and throw a shoe at it for comedic effect. it would be awesome if they actually went into detail on how to dial in the suspension instead of just throwing in "magic coilovers" that are gonna make the car perform better. and fix that body roll with some beefier/adjustable sway bars
Basically I found one clue missing... Did you re-map ECU after instaling full exhaust? Did you installed another high-flow air filter? If you did not re-map ECU the full exhaust is pointless. Afterthen, did you even try to set up suspension? I think on that stage you can be even faster if you will do proper suspension set up and ECU remap.
I find it weird that the US and Europe get different versions of the same cars (Can't really complain as we do usually get the better end of the deal) but it does seem unfair and unnecessary.
