Metastannic acid is a pain for sure. It comes from the pins that are brass. I did best filtering it through shop towels and pouring HCL over it again and again and again then again. It made me really like the slow method of AP. Even though mine typically takes a month or longer
You need to crush the silicon. There are fine PURE gold wires inside the silicon chip... they have as much or more gold than the pins... older cpu's have the best recovery rate... 486, pentium 1, 2, and 3's... Amd socket 7's, 586, and athlon 1 and 2's
yo the gold layer on most newer electronics is between 50-500 atoms thick. I too had this question and have some old processors and ram chips i used to salvage out of old computers left out in the streets on greek row next to my undergrad uni. i feel like the only method thats effective enough for salvaging the gold is with Hg and burning everything else. then reflux the Hg. obviously not a good idea to do at home since even though you can contain Hg liquid perfectly, you cant avoid Hg from slowly evaporating. once you do anything with Hg in a room with a chunk of aluminum, you can basically assume that it will act like a sponge and suck up a significant amount of invisible Hg vapor from the air and will then slowly evaporate it out over decades and poison anyone in spending days in that room. at my old undergrad research lab we used to do air research on Hg and like 5 years after we had any samples in the room, we noticed the air lives would spike crazy high with Hg vapor and ruin our experiments if the HVAC wasn't running often enough. think of things like window frames, electronics, and cooking wear all has a lot of aluminum in it now days. really though, working with acids inside like this prolly aint the best thing for your lungs. obviously you didnt upload this here to get a dozen random strangers looking down their noses at you. just saying stuff you probably already know and are taking precautious to limit your exposure. something about the way you breath makes me worry about COPD/respiratory capacity. maybe its the microphone. its a curse I have since going to medschool, cant stop assuming diagnoses about people i have no business with lol. thanks for uploading mate. stay safe
whats hg ?. yeah my breathing is heavy but not due to chemicals . firstly im asthmatic , secondly i suffer from hayfever and spring has just finnished but there are still thousands of flowers and flowering grasses around.. but mostly im extremely out of shape. ive gained 60 kilograms in the last year. i appreciate your concern for my health tho . thanks
Great video. Things I need to watch for when I try to attempt some chips and pins again next year. Currently watching videos, learning, and depopulating boards right now. It was just tin that made the metastannic. Just need to boil the pins more in several washes of it first. Its what all the black was before you added nitric. Dont proceed till its gone

Sounds great! . id be interested in watching your video. ive just finnished sorting my crumbs yesterday . its a pain staking job but what i do is pick through them with tweezers and picking out all the chips no matter how small. ive usually already taken mlccs off the boards manually before i depopulate so all im usually left with in crumbs is solder from using the heat gun and other things which are not worth anything
I have a brown fiber CPU and all the gold legs have been removed, is there more gold else where in that CPU? Also I have three black fiber CPUs and the heat gun would not get the gold legs to fall off. So I heated it with a propane torch until no more flames came from it and the legs still would not come off. The silicon wafer fell off and I could see lots of gold wires coming from it. If you ever process black fiber CPUs it has lots of copper plates in between the fiberglass layers.
I will be processing Black fiber CPUs in an upcoming video. I don't know about brown fibers CPU'S as I have not done them but I believe they are same as black fibers. no you cannot remove the legs from black fiber CPU''s the whole CPU legs and all go into AR. make sure you break the center part out. Maybe wait till you see the video if you are not sure.
Don’t let the chooks near them bottles. There old Chemist bottles back when they use to mix there own drugs. So it could be up to or older than 100 years. I’m not 100 yet so I don’t know when they stopped that practice. Looks great on your table though enjoy mate
thanks , its been a battle stopping the chooks from getting into the patio area, no matter how much i fence it off they find a way in . and i was devistated to see 4 beakers knocked off onto the floor
