Becoming debt free is definitely a tier of happiness.

I was once less then 24 hours from being homeless and now I have a seven figure net worth. I can say with 100% certainty that if you know how to manage the money you have, you will definitely be less stressed and happier.

Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy freedom. It’s what you do with that freedom that’ll determine your happiness

Once basic needs are met, and you have a big enough nest egg to feel secure, and help family, I would argue that money has very little to do with happiness. But, I am amused by David Lee Roth's quote - Money can't buy happiness but, it can buy a boat, big enough, that you can sail right up next to it!

Erin, very good and insightful video. Thanks for putting it out there. I was fortunate that I retired at 57. My wife and I saved and invested for many years and are now reaping the rewards of long-term financial planning. Key is to manage your liabilities, and not get caught up in how you want to be perceived by others. The thing that makes me the most happiest, is that I no longer have to deal with people I do not want to. That has proven to be the ultimate blessing. Stay well.

I haven't hit my REAL happiness goal. I am very content with where I am. If we want to take a vacation, we plan ahead and do it. If we want to go out to a nice resteraunt for dinner we do. However, I'm not at the point where if I decide on Thursday I want to fly to Vegas for a weekend trip and see someone perform, I can't do that. Well, maybe once! That is what would make me REALLY happy. However, with retirement SO close, I am very comfortable in my position, and will enjoy retirement GREATLY!

Outstanding video!! As someone who grew up very modestly, I enjoy being free from struggle. Paying all my expenses in full such as car repairs. Being free from financial struggles gives me tremendous piece of mind.

What makes me happy is visiting my kids and grandkids that live many states away. What money buys is the plane ticket to take me to my happy place with my kids. Having enough money to cover our bills and still have the money to visit our children creates happiness. I once had an economics professor that said, "Money doesn't buy happiness. It buys objects that make you happy." But I agree with you Erin. Those objects only give a moment of happiness. Life experiences give us a lifetime of happiness with the memories they make. Love your videos Erin. Keep up the good work. And lets all keep making those wonderful memories.

Just found your channel, and subscribed. Thanks for sharing your personal story and sharing your inspiration to others. When you were undergoing treatment for your tumor, I'm sure you placed much greater value on survival and recovery than any amount of money in a bank account. It's all about perspective. I hope you continue to remember your blessings and share your joy with others.

I definitely wake up closer to Grumpy McGrumperson😂, but I agree a positive attitude is so key! Good luck with your Spanish courses, that is awesome!

I do like getting small gifts for my wife, it really seems to make her smile. And the more she smiles the better life is.

Thank you for doing this video. My wife and I both grew up in homes with many children and not a lot of extra money so we are happy with simple things but I think your idea of having some money that is discretionary to spend on whatever you want is great.even though some things are simple and don’t take a lot of money you do need some extra money to do them. Spending time with family ,friends if you go out to eat or just have a backyard cookout are things that make us happy but they still takes extra money and so whatever your budget is there needs to be some set aside to do extras so when the opportunity arises there is money there with out sacrificing paying the bills .I really enjoy listening to all your videos so keep,up,the work!

I just spent quite a bit but it’s fulfilling a lifelong dream of having my classic truck restored. The experiences and memories it will create will hopefully be incredible.

This study has been an inspiration for me in determining my take home versus savings rate for years now. It may or may not be happiness but certainly there is a minimal level of relative ease of living after which more doesn't make much difference.

What money doesn't give you is happiness, but the opportunities to enjoy life.
