I like Jimmy’s 1,000,000% confidence that we have not seen the whole DeBoer offense yet, that actually makes sense, and it seems to me it’s like building a house, you have to start with the basics, digging the hole putting in the foundation then framing it and so forth and that is the process Alabama is engaging in Since DeBoer has only been there for nine months. Roll tide! Great show as always, glad the Smith brothers will be on campus but also very excited to learn about this Ivan Taylor player. This is true, but if there are plays that he’s held back the first three games of the season for this upcoming Georgia game it’ll be plays that this team has been running in practice all along. It won’t be something new, it’ll just be the first time we’ve seen them use them in game. So I could totally see there being a few different plays or a special offensive package that Alabama runs in this game for the first time. I keep waiting to see K Law get his but it’s yet to happen. I just think Alabama has other weapons they’ve yet to utilize as much as others.

Guys - I want to address the issue of CKD playing a lot of players. The man is doing two things; one - evaluating personnel in-game, and two, developing quality depth. It is one thing to say “next man up”. When guys have experience, then they are truly ready and able. It’s like holding up 4 fingers entering the fourth quarter - it means nothing if you haven’t built that on the 4th quarter program over the winter. Lastly and most importantly - if building depth means we lose to UGA next Saturday, but are in better position to beat them later, which would you choose? Yes, I want to win ALL the games, but the game I want the most is the NC, and second-most, the SEC championship.

People misunderstand what DeBoer is saying. It's not a matter of if we have seen the "full" DeBoer offense. Obviously week 3 into a brand new system the answer is no. This would be the case even if he had a carbon copy of the players he had at Washington. What he is saying (and it's common sense really) is that he runs and designs the plays based off the personnel he has. So it's not that he's running more or less of his offense he's just running different parts of it. The amount of plays is still the same. It's like a master chef in a kitchen making a 5 course meal. The ingredients and tools in the kitchen will determine how he cooks the meal and what type of meal it is. But in the end it will still be a 5 course meal. So we are getting a "DeBoer" offense and as the season goes on we will see more and more of this offense. Will it look exactly like it did at Washington? No the ingredients are different. Will it still be an awesome 5 course meal? Yes. Very much so.

The run-run option is a read play, not an RPO. You do have rrpo plays that some teams run(think auburn with nick marshall), but a Milroe read play isn’t an rpo.

Question: I've always wondered why I've never seen a DC put a small ultra fast guy on defense end..most Left tackles couldn't react fast enough to stop this..let's say put an Javier Arinas type on end and see if he can get to the QB faster than the tackle can stop him
@ronaldwuollet2462
@ronaldwuollet2462 День назад
I have to say the current offensive coaching is WAY better than last years. Especially early on, Milroe was rarely asked to run or have designed runs. Just drop back after drop back and pass. It was obvious that dropping back to pass was his weakness and his obvious strength was running. It still is. He is a phenom of an athlete and just OK passer in the short and midrange, great deep ball and guys who can catch it. I love what Deboer is doing. Now maybe they simply wanted to see him develop? IDK. It just made me want to pull my last two hairs out when he should have been running more. Now I am still concerned about the secondary getting beat deep. There probably should have been more connects which have been missed for sure. Better teams will take advantage of that. Maybe more two high safety against Georgia? You don't want to let them get runnning on you but man, that deep ball has me concerned.

Love ya Jimmy but you’re partly wrong. Yes it’s an evolution so to speak of the playbook… but it’s also keep it simple stupid for a reason. They play it safe initially and then layer like you said over time once the foundation is fully understood and executed. So again you’re half right and half wrong. Same goes for the defense. Base lines are established and then built off of every year for a reason. KD and Wommack are definitely licking their chops about getting to potential plays/formations I guarantee it!

I don't understand having this conversation about whether we've seen the entire playbook when they've only played 3 games and almost everyone is in their first year in the system. No team in the country has shown nearly everything. Plus you have to establish your tendencies at some point. I also don't think people understand how DeBoer operates. IMO, Coach DeBoer will NEVER HAVE a roster (from top to bottom), as talented as the roster he has this year. This does not mean we may not have some player at individual positions that are more talented a a position like DL. Maybe DeBoer doesn't need to have as much individual talent as he has right now? I do not agree with that. Let's hope Coach DeBoer maintains a Saban quality roster as long as he is at Alabama.
