A good intentioned, genuine guy like you, not afraid to dive into hard work, head on his shoulders, feet on the ground, you're gonna do well. Its hard for youngns to think like you and just appreciate and focus on gaining experience and skills. Good luck to ya brother.
This is very interesting, however anyone that worked in farming, ranching knows the biggest downfall vs pay. I'm not here to point fingers, but I do know from over 30 years of experience: most people don't know what is cost to own, and run a ranch. The bare minimal expenses comes from the purchasing of supplies, feed, cows, fencing upkeep or maintenance, horses, vet bills, hay, water supply, tractor and combine maintenance, and this to name just a few. This type of work is not for many because it's grueling, and grinding out 10-15 hour days, getting up before sunrise.
I know this video is old but by chance you might get a notification, I'm 19 and I have a few cows and a few horses but I have 0 experience on a big time ranch, and I want to get out and get some experience on a big time ranch and bring it back to my home ranch to help. The thing is, I have no idea where to look to find openings or places to work.
Hey, I’m sixteen going on seventeen and I’m seriously considering being a ranch hand for a few years straight out of high school. How are you liking Montana? And do you think it’s a good idea?
Im currently a ranch hand in south eastern idaho near arco, if you have an outdoors background, like working with your hands, like doing something new and different everyday and if you have a good work ethic I would say yes, its not a laid back job its a decent amount of hardwork everday at all hours of the day rain shine or even in 6ft of snow like right now, I personally love it and will never regret comming to work and weld on a ranch, I work on a famiky ranch and its great, be careful some ranches are sketchy/toxic they do things strangely and some are just aweful to be at
I can handle hard work, even working in the sun/cold and rain...what I can't handle is constantly being rushed or pushed especially when we are understaffed and I'm doing the work of 3 people/barley learning to do my own job....is ranching reccomended?
@garrettkovar9234 Are you still working at the same ranch? I took a job as a stable hand, 34 yo, so I'm looking what goes into this job. I've got loads of manual labor experience, but I've never worked near horses. Actually last time i rode a horse, i was in my low teens, it didn't go well and i went through my young adult life being timid if not out right scared of them
Hi bro, could you let me know where you work? As a foreigner I am trying to gain some experience with ranching next year. Just looking for good places that take foreigners with little experience. Maybe you can help me out with that information? Much appreciated! Cheers, Lucas@@garrettkovar9234
