Climate change is impacting the Antarctic. This becomes particularly evident in the ice masses covering the continent of Antarctica. Geodesists at TU Dresden are investigating these alarming changes. To do so, they use GPS measuring points as well as data from the GRACE and GRACE-FO satellite missions.
Maria Kappelsberger from the Chair of Geodetic Earth System Research has already been to the #Antarctic herself with the Polarstern research vessel from @AWIresearch and has carried out measurements on site. Along with her colleague Dr. Matthias Willen, she explains how the changes in ice mass can be measured and where the loss is greatest.
