While engines set to run on vapor systems are known to be temperamental and weak, some vapor generation is necessary for good performance on any gasoline engine.
The old wisdom was an operating temperature of 212 degrees was optimum for power production, modern fuels are formulated much differently than the gas available 50 years ago, with a much lower boiling point, so we decided to see what temperature would have to be generated in the floor of our intake plenum to vaporize the raw fuel shot from our accelerator pump without going so far as to overheat the incoming air charge.
The numbers were lower than we expected.
