Scenes of devastation are emerging on both sides of the border.
With thousands of people dead, rescue teams are working around the clock to find survivors.
Humanitarian assistance is essential, particulary in northern Syria.
But are politics hindering the response?

Syria deserves help as much as Turkey. Be human.

Many Countries around the world have been trying to get into Syria. But Syria won't let them in. Syria has put their politics before their people, unfortunately. Turkey threw their borders wide open to anyone and anything that could help their people. That's why it seems Turkey is getting help and Syria is getting very little. People have been waiting to help Syria. But the Government won't let them.

It seems like no matter how much is given or done it won't come close to being enough and not fast enough. My heart goes out to these people. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a victim hoping for help.

Why in God's name do these freaking Politicians get in the way of sending the necessary aid, supplies, equipment to Syria 🇸🇾, they are human beings like everyone else. Children need aid, medical attention as well as their parents, the elderly. The corrupt politicians should set aside differences for the sake of humanitarian aid. God, please shake up these corrupt people with a rock on their head, send reasoning to their mind.

That's pretty naive. Everything sent to Syria will end up in the pockets of the regime or rebels. Like in Somalia, the authority to allocate relief goods becomes an important source of power to control people.

We need to keep the political differences aside at this moment of time. Syria are going through a devastating humanitarian crisis. Human lives need to be rescued from the rubbles asap where the earthquake calamity has arisen. Medical aid and basic needs,food,water and appropriate shelter are most needed here right now for the vulnerable .

1) US based, Western charities, and Turkiye have been feeding and providing for 3/4 Syrians in this area for over 10 years. 2) Russia and Assad regime, on the other hand, bombed 2/4 hospitals in this area and killed, stole, kidnapped doctors, international aid workers for years. That's why UN only allows aid to go to Syria through Turkiye. 3) In 2020 at the International Security Council, China and Russia vetoed international aids to Syria, causing starvation and mass suffering.

It looks like a war zone. It's just mind-boggling the extent of the need just to help the survivors get the bare basics of life. Can they use peace-keeping forces to get aid in to Syria.

It was a war zone for over a decade, the country is paralysed by sanctions meaning no machinery to help move rubble is available, no medicines are available and America is still stealing its oil resource shipping it through Iraq and profiting , from the endless wars it procures.

Any country volunteering troops to deploy to Syria? We can't send anything without an invitation and consent from the host nation. Rebel-controlled territories are no man's land. There is no government to negotiate status of force or to coordinate relief efforts. And they're scary Jihadists.

Despite the devastating consequences of this earthquake, however it is the only way out of the war in Syria. I do hold out hope that the Syrian government and the opposition alongside the international community come to their senses and see the silver lining of this catastrophe to put differences aside and get involved onto a comprehensive settlement.

Set the political disputes aside for those people. Some might be barely surviving beneath those rubles while those alive are suffering from the lack of help. There are kids out there without shelter and are possibly hungry. Syria needs help

LOL that Asad guy is so biased its unbelivable. He is absolutely himself using politics in this discussion. Syrian government have btw so far received aid from Oman, UAE, Egypt, Russia, Lebanon, Libya, India, Algerie, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Armenia, Pakistan and Venezuela. Not only 1 plane but several planes from each Nation. And Russia and Lebanon have teams on the ground.
