There is more than 15% of inflation rate from food to house rental prices in Sweden for the last 2 years. Salaries on the other hand, almost did not change for regular employees. In the end, people who are in the direct commercial business kept gaining their money out of Euro while regular people got poorer. So it’s some kind of a joke when we say it’s a social democracy.

Seriously, all these visitors saying how much cheaper it is have no idea! Some food is double cost since 2020 and I had zero raise in two years but mortgage and loan going up again two more times before 2024......

I totally agree Erhan. Anything I can imagine got expensive and my salary didn't change for last year. My interest rate increasing, my rent, electricity... etc. Eating outside is too expensive nowadays. Sometimes, I think that moving germany might be better than sweden.

For any teachers thinking of teaching in Sweden, I was going to work as a primary teacher in Sweden (coming from the United States). My starting salary would have been 28,000 kr per month which is almost 10,000 LESS than the number in this video.

Yes, but you need to keep in mind people pay for more things in the US. Health insurances, etc. In Sweden that's already included in the taxes as well as basic childcare. Just an example of course but you're paid less overall because there are more benefits that you don't need to pay extra for like we do in the states. We're taxed less, paid more but at the end of it we have to spend more to live, and then that's adjusted by which state or city we are.

It was unexpected, how even are the salaries in Sweden. A medical specialist in brazil makes on average 10k USD per month, while a cleaner job would barely reach 800 USD, the poor are overtaxed here, unfortunately. As for social benefits; i was expecting stuff like that in Sweden, we do have similar programs offered by the government, but not as much money to go around. Loved the video

Seeing people complain about the SEK dropping and saying you'd get more money in Europe. Really need to consider what you get included from living in Sweden. I honestly think the people living here become blind to just how good things are. I can't comment about other countries but in comparison to the UK things are much, much better in Sweden. Things like child care costs are 10x more expensive in the UK. There's many other expenses as which are subsidised in Sweden. If you have a family these far surpass the extra income you'd have in salary. In the UK I earned about 25, 000 sek p/m more than I do in Sweden but the money I have left at the end of each month is more. There's more to it than just my money though - general quality of life is better and things like general city infrastructure, maintenance, cleanliness and crime feel considerably better in Sweden vs the UK.
@stormmaster108
@stormmaster108 Год назад
Just in case I fell into the category of those complaining about SEK (as I mentioned my surprise by the exchange rate), I would like to clarify that I am not complaining. It was just an answer to the question in the video (we were asked what surprised us the most). I think Sweden has a very good and balanced system, which is very fair. I love Sweden a lot. Even more so for its climate, language, and culture. Income opportunities are quite tertiary for me. I wouldn't choose to live anywhere else for all the money in the world.
@EmilNiemi

Some earn down around 21 000 SEK before tax as well, it's probably around lowest I seen recently. Worst paid job I had was call center, then it's been job at grocery store and lastly which I've now an administrative job in an office which I enjoy a lot though if I became cleaner for my company I'd earn a bit more.

I don't know if I'd be able to live in Sweden with a preschool teacher salary (also the fact that I'm trying to learn Swedish, would make getting a job harder), but I can't even make a living in America as a preschool teacher. In America the only reason I have health insurance is because my parents still have me on theirs and even then for half the year I can barely afford yearly check ups and visits for illness, not to mention preventative care.

@ezequitor
@ezequitor Месяц назад
@@ehmokay2722 well, I'm very sad to inform you that I am self employed in sweden and I do know how the 3:12 rule works hehe. I own an AB. And you can only pay dividends to the 22% tax IF you pay yourself a salary high enough, and you can only pay yourself a percentage that depends directly on how much salary you pay. So in order to increase your dividends at 22%, you MUST increase your salary paid fully as well.. And if you sum up both things, your marginal tax is around 50%. Can’t agree with @felipeoliveira895 coming from Scotland. Healthcare and prescriptions are actually free, here I pay for both medication and the 5 minute appointment even for contraception which is shocking. I’ve paid zero my entire life in Scotland. Education was also free and unemployment support costs nothing. Here I have insurance for that on top of tax on top of charges from the kommun. Also terrible to be self-employed, it’s hardly worth it. I have a skilled job and educated to PhD level, no where near the wage I would get in some other countries. Only buying a house is cheaper here, everything else is worse. Wanted to add that all those "benefits" flashing up at the end of the video are mainly for citizens. Immigrants pay the same tax but do not receive the same social security. Even as an EU citizen I have to pay for insurance in case I lose my job. There is a 12 month qualifying period, before then despite paying over 10,000kr a month in tax, when my temporary contract ended I was left with nothing by the social security system. I applied to the basic A-kassa for everyone that does not pay into an additional one and after 8 months they "paid" me a grand total of 8,000kr per month. Lucky I found another job after 3 months, I would have lost my home and had nothing for groceries waiting 8 months for support! Now I have passed the 12 month qualifying period I would receive a percentage of my previous wage, but I pay for that privilege on top of all the tax! I'm not entitled to CSN and do not have kids, so really receive very little for my tax. They don't even clear the snow from my road in the morning so I can drive to this job to pay for everyone else's parental leave haha. But yes, education is free (no tuition fees anyway, of course you interest on your loan if you are lucky enough to get CSN and nothing for living expenses otherwise) and I would be paid if I was off work sick, but I worry for how long as a non-citizen.

I'm an american man who just moved to sweden. my advice is getting an online job in the USA. you can get by just fine in sweden on usa seattle minimum wage. also as an immigrant without a person number you cannot work here it is not like the USA where any immigrant can find a job on any street corner or standing outside a home depot. sweden is a very very nice country but in my own persona opinion the wages are not worth working for BUT you'll live a far better life in sweden poor than wealthy in the USA. also know that its almost 100% cash-less society here every one uses "swish" mobile payment its very hard to hustle here with the American mind set keep in mind that you must also learn Swedish to have a shot at a basic retail position. most of the jobs are centered around 3 main cities IN MY OPINION the usa has a higher ceiling but a lower floor and sweden has a higher floor but a lower ceiling usa is the land of opportunity but most people never make it where as sweden... the average person is happier, healthier, with a better work life balance and much much more. in the usa you are pressured to flex and flaunt wealth in sweden its reserved its not common to see people trying to stunt IN MY OPINION usa is better for young men ages 17-33 to grind and build wealth. and sweden is better for age 33-100 raising a family and retiring. if you're a passport bro you need to come with a realistic expectation and preparations as a man or else you will feel castrated by the system. its very different the philosphy here is that government is good and people should be equal in outcomes. im not saying its bad its just different and as an american MAN (especially if you're conservative valued) you need to be prepared or you will feel like you're being emasculated. and you'll struggle to find an outlet as a provider and protector your wife will become the man and the thing is you'll see women here mowing the grass and men inside on maternity leave im not saying its BAD just emphasizing the difference because it will impact your self identity and possibly your relationship role if you come here as a husband. without that person number you are a nobody and it can take Y E A R S S S to get it. and if you leave you cannot come back for 3 months or to any "Schengen country" so like i said get that usa online desk job for $25 an hour and a credit card and a good wife. ALSO id you are a Swede who is coming back to the usa it took my wife 3-5 months for them to re-activate her person number so as a native swede she could not do anything here. as if she was a foreigner.

It does not take a year to get a personnummer. It can take months. A sambo/married visa must be applied from the home country. People from the US can go visit Sweden without a visa for 90days only even while waiting for their permit to be processed. There is no rule saying you must wait 90 days to reenter a Schengen area. The 90 days are for staying in the Schengen area. If you overstayed your first 90 days then there are penalties that would impact your return but that's based on the severity of your deportation. This is false information. Please go to Migrationsverket for correct information before you spread misinformation.
