I have to imagine that 99% of skaters would take the same deal if they could and the ones who did turn it down are now or soon regretting it. Especially when they see other pro athletes and public figures making sometimes hundreds of millions doing the same thing and that it doesn't mean you love skateboarding any less.

Skaters that hate on pros for taking big deals are literally delusional. At the end of the day, it’s a job, and the main purpose of a job is to provide you and your family with a wage. So clowning on pros for doing something the provides them with big (sometimes life changing) amounts of money is ridiculous. Obvs if they’re making deals with shitty companies I can understand the hate. Honestly I would say you’re a fool if you turn down the deals that some skaters get offered and you definitely 100% would categorically not be a fool to say yes to something that is going to improve your quality of life, whether it be for a month of for the rest of your life.

Ryan seems like one of the coolest and most humble dudes ever for the massive amount of success and fame he had from an early age. He even seemed that way when he was younger and on MTV even though he obviously thinks he was arrogant. Dude is all around bad ass and has an incredible head on his shoulders after all he went through. Truly admire and commend him. 🙌💪

I work as a voiceover artist/tv commercial actor and lemme tell you, a million bucks is unheard of. I had an audition for a cell phone company a couple of years back and a bunch of sponsored skaters from Prague where I live were there. I think maximum pay was like 20-40 thousand czech crowns, which is on average about $1400. I’m glad Ryan secured the bag haha. I am certain that at one point one of the big sports companies like Nike or Adidas reached out to make Ryan an offer at some point, and he turned it down because he’s always been on Etnies. I have the utmost respect for Ryan

Only a few of the “true core” skaters didn’t. (🤔 again, so who was the “true skateboarder” and who was the “poser”?) in their head there is always a reason that they will be better than me. However they always want to use somebody else as an example of why they are better. Guys like that never learned how to stand and shine on their own. People like that always want to use somebody else as a steppingstone, or as a comparison to show how much they shine in comparison. You don’t have to like every skater. As well as you don’t have to like every skate company. (Or retail shop) but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore or ridicule their existence. At one time it was all about slamming a professional skater you didn’t like. And these days it’s about slamming a manufacturer or retail shop you don’t like. it’s OK to personally and doors or back up a person or a company. But honestly.... only posers are jumping on the bandwagon of popular opinion. Especially popular opinions about what’s too main stream or anti-core. And only the true course skateboarders don’t care what equipment that you ride, or which professionals inspire you. A true chorus skateboarder only cares that you’re out there and advancing your own personal skills....period
