Insider Gaming hasn’t been able to learn what the expected sales figure was for Star Wars Outlaws, but we have secured a current sales figure from sources close to the game. At the time of writing, Star Wars Outlaws has just ticked over one million sales worldwide.
To put that into perspective, we reported in January 2024 that three months after Assassin’s Creed Mirage had hit the market, it had secured five million sales.

What I want to know is how in hell did it get green lit for release in the state it was in???? The bugs were and are incredible! The fact you can stroll around and blow something up, or make a noise when sneaking and no one spots you. People floating in mid air, getting trapped on or in scenery and objects, falling through the map into empty space...its mind blowing how bad it is. And I have seen so many videos on here of this, I cant stop laughing at how bad it is, and how no one seemed to notice these problems, or do anything to fix them. This game is dead, its that bad they could patch it for a year and it still would be bugged to bogglins....

It's funny: I just had a birthday and hit 53 years of age. Just a decade ago, when I turned 43, I remember worrying that at least half my life had passed me by (if I'm lucky). Since then, though, I find I don't care as much about the on coming inevitabilities. The one thing this modern world has done is to ease my fear of aging and the end that comes with that. Ubisoft have been making boring uninspired games for a decade. They are repetitive, bloated with a million mundane tasks, grindy, and mechanically built around micro transactions. This is the latest in a long line of games that are just not fun. The DEI issue is just the latest of Ubisoft’s cynical trend chasing, to try to paper over the fact that a long time ago they decided that making fun, engaging, polished games was too expensive.

I remember people saying that two indie developers were going to do better than big AAA companies. They released a nice trailer. Later, intelligent people wondered if it wasn't too good to be true. The game came out and despite the red flags, people bought it in droves. And people seemed surprised to be faced with a disaster. The name of the game "the Day Before"

To put in perspective, Star Wars the old Republic MMO had almost a million preorders. An MMO has a much smaller audience than a single player sandbox game. Considering that it had a full price, plus a monthly subscription, a million units presold wasn't that bad.

The comedy of the thumbnail is actually pretty accurate to real life. I just imagine potential buyers that are very casual gamers and how their eyes/brain interprets that goofy looking character. Not only were the top brass at Ubisoft oblivious to what gamers actually want , they also misread the bad economy. Alas , these knuckleheads don’t care about the health of the company or empathy for their coworkers. To these types, pushing the agenda comes before all other concerns. Give people what they want, not what you think they need to learn a lesson. The other problem with this game is any time you do a Star Wars project without Jedi, you have to be prepared for it not to do well financially. If it does, like Mandalorian, then great, but Jedi are the element that really made Star Wars different than anything before it. Take away the Jedi and most people are going to not be interested in your project.

Everyone keeps forgetting the root of their financial problem for the year. Ubisoft has said this all goes back to Skull & Bones. Outlaws was supposed to make up for that loss, which is estimated to be between $650-850M, AND continue to bring in revenue with transactions and expansions. Shadows was supposed to be almost all profit to get them out of the red.

Quite a few japanese game companies did this. They took the basic game mechanics from their propietary game engine and just kept redressing it with different characters, background, plot etc etc. the usual target of “redressing” are popular action fantasy animes, and i tell ya, it works. The money they spend on are the rights for those character designs, the voice actors for the game lines, marketing… thats it i think. The game engine is already there. The result? Pretty mediocre n predictable gameplay, but ur playing ur favorite characters from ur favorite anime. Sure, quite a number of fans n gamers notice this low effort production n will steer clear, but enough people dont really mind and theyll eat it up. Whats important is it was low cost, n the returns will more than make up for it, and with a tidy profit to boot.

In an alternative universe where SW was still a decent brand and Ubisoft kept their politics to themselves, this game would have easily moved 5-10 million copies. I am glad that Massive crapped this out before The Division 3 though. There is now an extremely remote chance that D3 won't be complete garbage (if it ever gets developed) after this string of massive failures.

Can't wait for you guys to cover dragon age veilguard at the end of the month. My early estimate, it's gonna sell half of outlaws maybe 500,000 worldwide across all platforms in October. Thats another game that needs 5-6 million in sales just to break even, and over 12 million copies to be more successful than its predecessor.

happens when you launch an unfinished product and game is to expensive when all you get is a license to play it right and fork up 1/4 to get DLC content or paid subscription shit. I am enjoying games of 7-8 year old (when they costed 20-40 euros, not 80-100) (and spending millions to get fanchannels on RU-vid to produce positive reviews after buttering them up with Trips to Disney )

The game base is solid...and if they get their act straight it could be redeemed with some male oriented DLC's. CDPR redeemed themselves with Cyberpunk and it's a smaller studio. No Man Sky was a disaster at launch if i recall proper , many games have had horrible launches and have evolved into sucess. This game can do that provided you make it "male" and "respect the lore". They have the manpower to do this. It is just a matter of someone taking charge of this mess.

I wonder why they do not offer it a bit cheaper through Ubisoft? I have the launcher because of The Fractured But Whole game and Outlaws is the same price there as everywhere. They must make more profit on their own store front? But in the future all games will be day one on Steam lol. I think Ubisoft is going down perhaps.
