All these expenses are reasonable in Toronto, except for the food. $700 for groceries and $500 for food delivery is too much for 2 people. I spend about $250 for groceries for one person and no food delivery. I shop at Freshco, Nofrills and Costco. Loblaws is too expensive.
you kind of have no choice when you dont live near these tho. i wish i could go to costco but the nearest one is very far uptown. frescho and nofrills are also really far for me. Sure I can take the TTC but a 10 min walk is now a 40 min commute. they closed down the T&T downtown as well. So even tho loblaws & longos are expensive.. its close to me. it depends on where you live. I just find the downtown experience is really limited by location especially if you dont have a car. food delivery is totally optional and a luxury
If someone thinks spending 50$ per person on weekend for entertainment, fun or food after 5 hectic and exhausting days is luxury, then he needs to think about getting depressed or low as that’s the only cheapest option to handle home/family/friends sickness out of your own home country. And they don’t have car, otherwise this grocery can bought from Costco under $400 or max $500 but they will end up spending 120 to 150$ on rides for commuting.
I have seen number of vlogers based in Canada but this is something I love watching every time and the reason is both of them are simple and straightforward with no show off. The way to presents and video quality is amazing ! I am also living in GTA Toronto so can say they reveal things practically!
Hi Pooja & Saransh, I do really feel for you both that is a lot. I wonder if it’s worth living in Toronto with very high living costs. I think the quality of life doesn’t always mean high costs . Living somewhere cheap and affordable can also mean quality. It’s like saying a $5000 Rolex is better quality because it’s expensive but a $50 watch does the same thing for much lesser price. I think both of you seem intelligent and mature I am sure if you do your research and properly look into it and see if there’s any less cheaper option by the looks of it maybe there isn’t any at the moment. There are certain things you would need to sacrifice to reduce your monthly expenditure especially your phone bills. All the best
I started watching your channel as we are also moving into a 1+ den in Toronto in May 21. We budgeted 4000$ per month so despite your love of takeout you're definitely in the zone! Will be interesting to see how much pizza is left over at the end of the month!!!
COME TO CANADA...WHOLE WORLD COME HERE AND LET SPOIL CANADA ECONOMY TOGETHER...Every illiterate is also coming here by giving bribe...Dam so many punjabi's here and culture is disurbed permanently..Trudeau just want to let in illietrate, mannerless punjabis for sake of his Prime Ministership..He is khalistan supporter and BC is epicenter of Khalistan...Everything is too expensive here that you have to skip your one time meal as well.....24 hours work, less sleep delivers you medical problems, harsh winters gifts you ageing faster process....Death rate is high and Birth rate is low...LIFE IS GETTING HELL HERE.
"Hum paise gharse nai mangate", hum to sales job karte hai, mene to apni job chod di hai, lets go to aruba, lets buy a home in canada...do you even know how much does it cost buying a home/condo in Toronto. Aapne to peekapoo bana diya humara.
@@Peekapoo Okay, I know my message was very hateful, and I am sorry for that. But this is all wrong portrayal of reality in Canada. Right now 1BHK condo is approx 550K for which you will have to pay 110K down payment, doing a sales job within one year with all other expenses that you do(travel, hotel, etc), it's hard to save. But it's okay, your videos were good earlier I personally don't find them helpful anymore. Maybe in the future videos might be more helpful and truthful and Best of luck with that. And sorry again for the above message. Thanks.
Looking at the number of people like this comment, I feel I am kind of spreading hatred here, for which I am extremely sorry and you can delete the comment if you want. Thanks And sincerely I understand how much effort you guys put in for these videos, so keep up the good work, and Best of luck.
It's HILARIOUS how new Indian immigrants say 'Tronnno' with an Indian/hindi accent 😂it sounds really silly/pretentious and doesn't sound anything like the way it's supposed to. Most importantly, a LOT of Canadians (including the Canadian prime minister) say ToronTo. 😂 there's really no need to try so hard to sound cool! For example, it's OK to say 'NEW york' and no need to say 'NUUYork' like a native new yorker would. Also HIGHLY inflated costs, but that of course is a personal choice.
Canada seems very costly, I live here in USA in charlotte suburb area and spending 2200 $ monthly for couple including car rent everything. And we dont spend much on ordering outside food much its just 50 $ for us.
We are renting a one bed basement in 1800 all included, don’t have any car, don’t have any subscriptions, hardly order food from outside once a month, hardly spend 50 on transit and yet our monthly expenses are around 3700. I guess for one, we spend a lot on groceries and for second, Canada has become way more expensive since this video.
first doing 2 jobs is real pain n then such expenses other pain..n real big expenses not started yet dats other level of pain......living in canada is freakin painnnnnn,,,,lived in toronto, vancouver, calgary, winnipeg as canadian pr.... entire canada is freakin expensive..... Been there Done dat......now back to india n happily living in my home country n now first time m proud of my country Bharat.....
I live in downtown by myself. I don't cook so I do delivery everyday Food comes to $1k per month (Freshii, Fresh on Crawford, good healthy and nromal food). Usually I would say $4k/mo is a sweet spot. I own my own marketing consulting business so I can move some of my expenses as business expense. If anyone is looking to save up and buy a house or condo while living in downtown, I would say realistically you need to save around another $4k/mo. So $8 to $9k after taxes if you are working. P.S. - I don't have car and I rent.
This is too much..here in vancouver for samesize apartment we pay 925 in rent. And for groceries plus food deliveries we pay 700 included. Moreover with car and all other expenses we spend around 2500.
1.pizza idea amazing pooja 2.liar liar....n other back sounds😂😂👍👍 good one 3.Saransh did amazing job come often dear...(pooja need to convince 😂😂) Love you guys amazing videos. Keep working like this and enjoy your lives.
Not judging. Its your money spend it as you like. But rent $2000 omg.. It can be your mortgage money if you are planning to buy a home.. $500 for food deliveries you can own a car in future... You just need to save down-payment and you will be good to go 🌷❤️ I know you can do it poo... Just think about it and take action. Then new video will be house tour 😜😜
You guys are spending waaaay too much on groceries. If you want to cut that in half, start shopping at Walmart and no frills. Even farm boy can be cheaper than Loblaws.
as of now Nov 2021, you can live comfortable in Toronto if you earn $20.50 /hr. as of now minimum wages are $14 will go up to $15 in 2022, lots of opportunities to make extra $$ deliver person, part-time self employ
So i will be moving to brampton and i would be earning around 6200k per month after taxes. I am single bachelor moving to canada. How much expenses usually cover up for a single bachelor in shared condo.
Lol it’s never fixed. Btw This month I did not buy anything for myself but some months it’s more.. So I don’t have any figure for that hahaha 🤣 but will share an updated one - once everything’s open
5:41 funny 😂😄 i was laughing too ... lovely video guys..keep up the good work. awesome video quality and editing. 9:33 I spend a lot on food delivery and uber..actually my kitchen is under lockdown 😄 I am not allowed to get in.
One of the worst ideas provided by a RU-vidr till date for the expenses and yes it does not benefits at all. No offence and sorry guys. Just providing a genuine comment for this as the other videos of your channel seems good and interesting.
$4000 a month for a couple is not bad, that's just $2000 each! And average salary is around $60,000 year with take home pay around $4000 per month, even minimum wage of $15/hr would be take home pay ~$2200 per month so it's totally doable I think?
Very interesting. I think if you are taking home around $90-95K a year after taxes and all, then it's not bad. It depends on what people are earning I guess. From the jobs that you guys have I am guessing it is atleast that much per year (based on what I have heard on other people's videos.
In India food deliver is cheaper lol....You pay Rs.100 for delivery and there Rs.10000 how you pay alot in India?? Can you elaborate...Duffers like you are residing in Canada and wise people are still in their home country.
I cook all my meals and don't eat out. It is tiresome for sure. But I do treat myself to a Venti Emporer's Blend Starbucks tea about once a week. Occasionally I eat out - $20.00 per month only.
When I realised how much the food delivery apps were costing me, I deleted them so quick and I haven't looked back since. Saving that extra money has been my version of self-care 😅
who wants to bet these two have already planned their India trip and are just keeping mum cus of potential backlash? lots of hints in the past 2-3 videos.
I can bet with you! I have not. I wish that was the case. I’ve been dying to go back to india and visit my parents but waiting for the situation to get better.. And yes you’ll keep hearing about india- because the day I can go - I will not think twice. I have never stayed away from my parents for that long and it’s tough
Subscribed! Started watching you couple of days ago and love your videos. I can relate, learn and explore at the same time on this channel. Also, you two are so cute together. I will say hi if I ever get to see you anywhere in the city. Best of luck!
Get a car ... You won't need to spend on Food deliveries and you can explore more ... We order on weekends too but never spend on food deliveries ..... Car is also a long term investment .... It will save your Presto Money .... also never buy a new car ....pre owned cars as good !!
For those trying to save money, look for places in the city where transit can get you around quickly but isn't downtown. And look for neighbourhoods where you have shopping options other than Loblaws and other expensive supermarkets. For example, living near Main St. station or Victoria Park station on the Line 2 (east of downtown) or near Kipling or Dufferin station on the line 2 (west of downtown) will still get on into the downtown core relatively quickly, have much cheaper rent, and cheaper grocery stores. On the Line 1, stick to the west side of the line...stations like Eglinton West, Glencairn, Lawrence west offer cheaper areas that can get you into downtown relatively quickly as well. Remember, your monthly transit pass or each transit ticket costs the same regardless of the distance you go. So for those living downtown, they pay $3, ride a slower streetcar for 20-30min on a trip similar to those who live outside of downtown and pay $3 and ride the faster subway. But those who take the subway can live a bit further away for cheaper.
Very informational video. Appreciate saransh being in it. Also don't feel so guilty because like you said food is the only thing that we are allowed to enjoy right now or I am just saying this because I spend a large chunk of my paycheck on deliveries too.🤡🤡 We'll get there. Cheers.
Hey guys! So I have bee following your vlogs since a year now I guess and I absolutely love you guys together! And there is so need to be embarrassed about your food expenses! It hard to earn money and do everything when your just trying to settle down in your life! Enjoy ur life! people are gonna keep saying stuff and giving their unwanted advice but yeah if you can afford then spend it luxuriously! Its your life afterall!
Oh yes, you don`t need a car if you are staying in downtown Toronto.. We came to Toronto in June this year from US. We are staying 2 mins away from Osgood station and the subway is a savior. However, just wanted to mention, that we hire car during weekends through Turo, so we do our grocery from Costco or Wal-Mart and that's cheaper than Longos or Loblaws. The whole summer we travelled around Ontario & Quebec, so renting all weekends made sense. Now that we are going back to US soon & it's winter here, we have stopped renting the car so often. Another thing I thought I will let you know. We took our Netflix subscription from India, so it's cheaper there. Connect to India through VPN and then subscribe. The premium connection will cost you Rs. 1000.
4k is gone If another person makes 4k that's fully saved snd thsts how it works.. So 40k a year saving x58 times 23laks... But a trip.to india will eat 5 to 10 laks a year... Still u can have 10laks in hand after u helped economy by spending 4k and trip expense for air Canada 😆... Thsts how the cookie crumbles here
Grocery stores in downtown are far more expensive than what we find in suburbs such as Mississauga, Scarborough where there are most NoFrills, Food basics...Loblaws stores in downtown look more fancy obviously but markup on each item can for sure blow up the pocket of many middle class families in GTA... would recommend looking out for FreshCo, Food basics, NoFrills but unfortunately downtown folks don't have that much choice
