My last venture, I designed 3D models for 3D printing for about 11 years whilst selling LEGO and doing the school run with 3 children . A neighbour ,Loadsamoney the plasterer is so blinkered that his life is all about work & money. 6:30am start, pub at 1:30pm, 3 hours of drinking and betting on horses, to get home and do it all again the next day. Get out of the box people .

As someone who also does RU-vid, it’s so, so difficult…. I had a really good run last year, then stopped putting videos out as regularly at Christmas and my god they penalised me! Good as a second income, but I’ll not be giving up the day job

As far as I know, you have to have about one million views a month to get a good income from YT. That is hard work, and YT is a risky source of income. The youtuber Bangkok112 had more than a million subscribers, and he suddenly got demonetized by YT back in 2020. They gave him no real explanation.

If people think that creating and running a RU-vid channel is money for nothing, then why aren't they doing it themselves? And another thing. People don't understand how it works running a company. You have revenues but need to deduct costs: accountant, food, cameraman, petrol, the salary that you pay yourself. Then the company pays corporation tax. And it pays you a dividend that you pay tax on. So your income is a bit of salary and a bit of dividend, both taxable. Which is a presumably quite a bit less than turnover. Does every £1 you pay for a loaf of bread represent £1 profit for Tescos? No, you have to deduct what Tescos paid for the bread and then something more for staff costs, etc. Same with every business.

As i have commented before, I have always had REAL jobs. Hurt my back 4 months ago driving a fuel truck refueling helicopters so i am at a cross roads at 59. RU-vid is not a real job, And being ashamed/embarrassed at what you get paid is BS. I also worked in mining for 27 years and depending on what stream you were in everyone knew what every one earnt because of pay grades.

Good insight on how it works, my sister was only asking the other day how youtubers make money. Hope you get your money from TUI, Three and Currys which were some of the adverts i seen on this video, mind you think that as more to do with my searches lately, often on Tui website looking at holidays, was on Three last week uprading my phone, which is what the Currys advert was about.

There are some that make YT videos for their primary income but for most they still have a day job, maybe a spouse that works, or just do it for additional part time income. Some do them for fun and some expenses or to channel persons to other video channels like Patreon or their own channels. One risk for YT'ers is demonetization, especially from late 2022. That is to protect advertisers from their ads with videos of controversial political and social subjects. Discussion of self unaliving (even here you have to be careful), certain weapons or even showing woman's bare feet can get you demonitorized.

I have watched a number of RU-vidrs that have given more details of their earnings. I never understood why we can’t be like Sweden where everyone’s salary is public information.

TBH what you earn makes no difference to me, that's your business only. In life I've found we earn as much as we can, and we all try to do it. If someone offers you more we take it. Human nature for most people.

Lee, I would like to thank you for posting this video. I started a RU-vid channel with a close friend about caregiving. This was helpful. I am curious, if like you say, you're worth less than £1 Million, I am not sure, if I were you, I would be spending over 10% of my net worth on a car, even if it does provide content. There were certainly way more affordable EV's you could have purchased to make the same points you have. You say that a lot of the website's that estimate your income and net worth are wrong. Have you come across any that were actually pretty accurate? You forgot to factor in your Merchandise.

No one forces me to watch RU-vid. Yhere is a fairly small but diverse RU-vidrs I watch regularly. Im happy to he entertained by the humour, science, engineering and historical content of what I watch. I m happy for anyone to earn a living from RU-vid if you bring something thay entertains me. Reaction videos should be banned though waste of bandwidth and low imagination. Keep the content coming Lee
