Hello, excellent presentation and vid. I can relate. My first electrician (a relative) installed Ro2v4x10mm2 from the meter to a junction box and then run 6mm2 to 2 different boxes of circuit breakers downstairs and upstairs. He had to go!!! The new electrician recommended Ro2v4x16mm2. I overruled him. Now we have Ro2v4x25mm2 running from the meter to each of the circuit breaker boxes. Watching this vid has reassured me that we are on the right path. Tfs!

this is what they have been using for most homes in Ghana and I believe this is why most homes are running on low current. No wonder a lot of people are using getting home fires because that 10mm would heat up and there would be high resistance caused and this would have your metre reading higher and it will cost you more. I think they do that deliberately to have the metre reading higher to run your credit out. Because this is the cable 10mm they have been using for most people instead of 16mm atleast. Thanks for this knowledge. Because we have this problem at home and we experience a lot of low current and higher meter reading making the prepaid metre drain a lot of credits. I think they lied about the cable being temporary because they didn't know you would find out and when you did. They had to convince you that was temporary because they know you know what you are talking about and they cannot B.S. you. Thanks very much. Really helpful.

@@kingstal90 This is why there a lot of cases of homes catching fires during voltage fluctuation or when the power is turned on after a blackout. They didn't mean to do it temporarily, but when you caught them they realised they can't pie to you. Make sure you don't have to pay them to correct their mistake. Those guys are mostly technicians and some are also in experienced and with gross negligence and the real engineers that are supposed to supervise their job sits in the office and boss them around whilst these guys that are on the field are underpaid, unlike them so not much motivation on the job.

When it comes to electrifying a house or even building one, we are at the mercy of unscrupulous people who exploit the ignorance of say first time house owners looking to build a homestead. The question is does the building trade have published standards on all type of builds, with specific references to parts of a building. Your expose’ has been useful and reassuring but what happens with dealings with a builder at Domeabra?

Great video. loved every bit. I install Solar systems and I always advise my clients to get a set up to run only the essentials like you said, ventilation (fans) , lighting and some light loads. This give you the opportunity to reduces the time to realize your ROI, the system(especially the batteries) last longer and you get to improve your power reliability at a low cost. It's good you got the solar thermal too. Using the grid (ECG) for heating is also very expensive. So far I will say Kudos! You have a very solid energy plan been executed excellently.

@makafuiameedzameh2445
@makafuiameedzameh2445 2 года назад
@@kingstal90 Yes I have. In actual fact the grid (ECG) is far cheaper than a kWh of electricity produced by Solar power in Ghana because we mostly install off grid systems with battery backup which is capital intensive. I still use the grid and still benefit from my lifeline subsidies which makes ECG cheaper but run my solar for reliability which the ECG lacks at very critical times of the day and seasons (during rain just be on stand-by for a blackout and in bad neighborhoods with power issues a brownout when they start increasing power consumption). Like I said earlier you have one of the best energy plans for your home I have seen so far and i hope many of your subscribers model it. Getting the generator to power heavy loads is also in the right direction like you are doing. I guess being an engineer you have already worked out the right energy mix (Grid + Gen+ Solar thermal + PV Solar ) and I very much agree with you.

Did you get single phase or 3 phases? And if you did get 3 phases then there's no need for the 16mm cable because you will divide total amp by 3
@kingstal90
@kingstal90 2 года назад
LOL You don’t understand my installation First to clear up your dividing by 3 statement. If I have a load of 80A and I want to support that load using single phase, then that single phase cable will need to be able to safely deliver 80A If I want to support the 80A load using three phase cables (3 live + neutral) then in that scenario, each of the cables will conduct 80A/3 MY HOUSE Assume I need 80A I have 3phases coming into the house. BUT my house only uses single phase!! Only 1 out of the three phases supports my house at anytime via the changeovers. I have connected 3phases simply to make the installation more resilient. In this case I need each of the three cables coming in, to be able to supply 80A. If my house is on L1 it gets 80A if on L2 80A and if on L3 also we get 80A. Each of the cables must be at least 16mm in order to supply the 80A If you’re not an electrical engineer or have not seen the schematic details then you may not fully understand. My house uses single phase only So one phase out of the 3 coming in will supply electricity to the house! The 3phases coming in is for resilience purposes ONLY. If there’s a problem with L1, I switch to L2, and so on/ so forth I will demonstrate the switching in a later video with more details of the changeover system in a detailed electrical Ebook Bless

This is an amusing comment. You want my engineering information for free? Sorry - That doesn't happen anywhere By all means - If you can get an engineering design from somewhere else for free please go ahead. Also please note, you don't have to do anything. It is NOT compulsory to get the ebook. Time and intellectual property is MONEY!! Those who need it, get it and many have already. Have a good day.
