Please!!! "Hot tip", buy some muriatic acid, (Home Depot, etc.) Soak cadmium or zinc plated nuts, bolts, etc, "out side", in glass or a paper coffee cup. Pour acid back into container for reuse. In 30 seconds plating is gone. Rinse with h20, & dry. Now striped and ready to weld. Plus those vapors are DEADLY !!! Yah I know everyone is an expert, but I have been there and done that. Good luck, racer to racer, and thx for your content. Ty

What gases in particular are you warning of?? Was HVAC business 40 yrs. Phosgene gas was one we had to watch. Could normally get just a little at a time. Body wouldn’t let you stay there. But it is cumulative. Your body can only take so much. Over yrs one small breath might be one that puts you in hospital or morgue.

Yeah, welding zinc results in a release of Cyanide which is generally considered detremental to health.

I am by no means an expert at this stuff but from what I do know those hats a lot of those Aussie guys are running are basically a top fuel nitro style hat that they dumb down. They are strictly running them for all show. Poser if you will. That is NOT what is on this engine.
@MRBLACK947

Also, this engine is EFI. The Aussie engines you are referencing are mechanical fuel injection.

Back when I used to build street motors, it was fairly common for us to get high rpm dips in power and torque like that. The reason for the dip was we were using intake manifolds or exhaust headers that were tuned for peak power in the ~4500 to 5000 rpm range, but we were revving the motor into the 6800+ rpm range. These manifold had a tuned flow resonance in the 4500 range, that helped to push or pull the air in/from the cylinders. At ~6800 they would enter a higher order resonance that impeded the flow, reducing the power and torque.

I thought that one too the other thought I had was any way the lifters collapse a small amount until the oil pressure goes higher cause loss of lift in the valve trane always wonder about that with hydraulic lifters when running heavy valve springs.

Fantastic video. Videos where, you suffer or you struggle, or things don't go perfect and you have to walk through each. One of the struggles. Struggles. Are the videos where you learn the most as a viewer. And also I enjoy because, we get to see eliminating the dyno eliminating the engine, eliminating the fueling, eliminating the timing and then coming right back to how much boost are you making

I imagine the forces on the supercharger and crank pulleys would be the same as if a person smashed on the belt with a stick 1000 times a minute. Not surprised the pulley broke off.
@mikepecchio-gk1bc
@mikepecchio-gk1bc 22 дня назад
The belt resonance is likely what broke the pulley bolts. If that issue is not corrected its going to cause other problems, like tearing up the main bearings and snapping the crank snout.
@THEFERMANATOR
@THEFERMANATOR 22 дня назад
@@mikepecchio-gk1bc the pulley bolts sheared off from the throttle slamming shut while under load on the previous run. Think of the force put on those bolts when the RPM's dropped instantly.

Grind the surface where you intend to weld down to bare metal. Clean with some acetone and you should be good to go. Afterwards you may have to resurface that nice work piece. Of course it always helps to know what alloy you are working with to ensure you are using the right type of filler rod and temps.

Shooting from the hip on this one, as soon as boost peaks you can see it drags down on the engine a bit, when boost falls off it looks as if the engine spun up a bit quicker to redline. Seems as it something opens up in the manifold causing leak and boost levels start rising again based on RPM.
