I was crushed when Roy got knocked out. I didn't talk to anyone for days, I didn't go to the gym, or anything. I'll never forget I was on the phone with Andre Dirrell the day of the fight we both said "Yo...something just doesn't feel right." I wasn't expecting him to get knocked out. Anyway, its part of the game and Tarver did his job. Much respect for accomplishing you goals.

This is my first time to hear Tarver speak. Glad to see him well, and he seen to be a real down to earth and loving. Tarver had Roys number, but the up and down in weight may have had a lot to do with it. In any case, that win put Antonio Tarver on the map. There is room for a number of greats.

He became heavy weight champ and had reigned for so long by this time. I remember hearing the result on the radio thinking...that can't be right. So I was amongst that group that was hurt that day also.

Roy lost the muscle weight to fast it messed up his reflexes. His body type wasn't designed to be that heavy so he lost all muscle. That did him in but he didn't know it

Tarvers whole career was predicated On beating. Roy.... Never beat any other elite fighter At lt.heavy. check B.Hop and Chad Dawson. Decent fighter bur a better talker.

I was at a friends house watching Tarver-Jones II with about 20 other people. I will never forgot how loud everyone yelled when Roy got knocked out.

Love Antonio man I followed this man in the Olympics and through his pro career. He was one of my favorite fighter's because he was never a shit talker and he just went in and did his thing man and always had great sportsmanship.

Guys, pound for pound, Roberto Duran is greater than all the other 4 kings of the 80s. Yeah he lost against all of them but he was a lightweight (who cleaned out his division) that fought welter and middleweight, way past his own prime. 5 years older than Leonard . Whoever says he was anything but GREAT doesn't know anything about boxing and be better watch football. And I think Hagler was the best middleweight of all time and Leonard was the best of the 80s (he has to, he beat them all).

An if u know anything about bringing up Pacs name in any type of comparisons that's not in a positive light, u know you're about to get blasted in the worst way from all of his fans. When u said "Roy never really had fundamentals" that was an is the gospel. When u think about the best an most popular boxers they DON'T have a lot of basic fundamentals. Sugar ray had the speed an the overhead wind up arm swing then hit u with the opposite hand. Hearns had an out of this world knockout punch. Hagler same thing. The killer instincts of De la Hoya once he got u hurt, he knew how to finish u. Trinidad's 1 hit power. There's not many who laced up the gloves who actually mastered those fundamentals. Which is why its called "the sweet science of boxing" coz not many has mastered the art of the sweet science. Floyd is seemingly the first person to come to mind. Ppl seem to 4get the quality of fighters that Roy was fighting while showboating in the ring. These was not A list fighters. These weren't even B list fighters. The fact that he was doing this in the ring an embarrassing the ppl he was fighting overshadowed the quality of the fighters he was fighting. But if you're a true boxing fan, who he was fighting was not an is not lost upon u. Floyd dismantled an broke down A list fighters with regularity. With fundamentals!!!! When an if Roy encountered an A list fighter, the things that ppl loved about him an his style of fighting, was not on display. An to your point, the lack of fundamentals led to his struggles in those fights much like Wilder losing to Tyson Fury. No fundamentals, no plan B to fall back on is what happened to Roy when he fought Joe Calzaghe, a fight that real Roy fans won't watch twice coz it highlights everything I'm pointing out in his lack of fundamentals an ended with a total annihilation of a once proud an flashy champion way past him prime and no plan B (no fundamentals) to save him.
