Hi Cheryl - I do talk a lot of dribble sometimes 😂 It was a bit of an up and down sort of a painting but came out well in the end. Now todays painting is full of fun and color - sunglasses on for this one 😍
Thanks for your honesty! It really calms me to see that even an so experienced artist like you are sometimes is making a mistake. Thanks for showing us. 💞
You are so welcome! As I said in other comments - seeing how a painting actually comes into being is sometimes more important than the finished painting. So keep calm and carry on painting. Sounds like a theme for a T shirt 😃
Hi Paul, you have already started working on Autumn theme. This would a gorgeous and romantic place to walk in the woods with partner. lol I will wait for the next episode. ❤❤❤
Hi Heema - 🤣not sure I'm organised enough to have planned that far ahed . But I'll take it. Yes, of course I meant to do it LOL Now back to the easel. I'm supposed to have had this done by now! Oh well that painting for you 😍
Hi Heather - thank you. I try and keep my humour under control! I grew up on a diet of Laurel and Hardy so its no wonder I have a slap stick mentality 😍
This turned out beautiful Paul, I loved when I did this painting. Got lots of great comments on it. Like you, found the blend of colors to be quite different. 💕
Hi Yovette - its certainly different. I though I'd lost the plot the first time round. It was only re watching Bob that I spotted the mistake. I like this combo of colours and may do another sene with them in the future. Have a lovely week 🥰
Hello, Paul! I am working on one myself I may restart. This is a tremendous amount of detail and have yet to determine if I like what I see yet... The color choices for this painting are a bit different and I love it. I've never seen a Bob Ross in person so, I'm quite interested to see how he used color in ways the filming didn't capture. I love the way the reflection came together, my favorite part, watching you drag the brush unleashing the color! Thank you for a wonderful video and have a great week. 🥰
Hi Robyn - The dreaded re-dos. I try not to but sometimes a painting gets away from us. So you see I try and make the best of it. Google Bob Ross - there are lots of tutorials online including someone called @paulransonart. He's a silly arse who gets it wrong but he means well 🤣 Now, reflections are what got me started on the Bob Ross thing. I've painted for a long time but those reflections were so doable. I love your latest painting @robynplummerpainting So if that's the one you doubted then it was a triumph. See you soon - Paul 🥰
Paul you have boosted my confidence by making boo boos if a talent artist like yourself can make mistakes and show us on video too ,well there is hope for me yet! Many times I thought ,"that's it , I'm giving it up I'm wasting time and money on equipment ,but you are so good at putting everything right by making mistakes (if you see what I mean lol) this painting is beautiful I love the colours it's dreamy ! And the cat flap it wouldn't be the same now without that cat flap , bloopers Paul are HYSTERICAL 😅🐈🐈⬛🐶
Hi Sylvia - yes I'm a stinker keeping you waiting. But its worth it in the end I hope. That first version was a dead duck from the start. I almost quit after the first tree. But, I've done that before and didn't learn a thing. So now I always paint on in case it comes good. Either way I learn something. So failing my way to 'sucess' so to speak. Henery cat has learned to use it tail as a sort of bumper to cut down on the noise the flap makes. It took me hours of training before he got the idea 🤣😍😎 😺😻😹
Hi Paul! It’s so helpful to us that you leave in and show your happy accidents in your videos. It’s true that even experienced painters make mistakes… I love the new color; that burgundy/berry/reddish lavender is a beautiful choice! It’s a lovely warm color. The colors combined in the finished picture look so cozy and relaxing, very inviting. Bravo!
Hi Stephanie - thank you for your wonderful review of my tutorial. I'm not one for vanity, especially over my paintings. I know some folk find it hard to show their work for fear of being judged harshly. Well, I hope this gives everyone hope. I recall Bob saying that he hoped never to paint a perfect painting. Because if he did how would he ever paint another. Have fun and keep on practicing 😍😍 p,s, thanks for the coffees - your a sweetie 🥰🥰
Yesss!! Thank you so much for leaving the first version in the video! It's not possible for artists to paint perfectly every time, so I wish we would just all move past that concept and realise that stuff happens sometimes. Well done Paul, I admire that you know when to leave your painting and walk away, but use the canvas for testing colours! Great idea! Thank you for version 2 - it's awesome sauce 👍😍
Thanks so much! 😊 Annie. It a deceptively 'easy' painting. But great when it works out. The outtakes are what I spend most of my time 'making' - Have a fun week with those lovely abstract trees @annietroe - 😍
Nice work!! In all honesty, this is also how I would want to own Bob’s first painting he did on TV; painting one for myself. After how the Kowalski’s screwed him over no telling how many facsimiles they made of it after Bob died, forging his name and tried to pass it off as an original. Accordingly, ever since the Kowalski’s wrangled his business from his son (who should have rightfully been given ownership of it!) I haven’t bought any Bob Ross products in years nor will I ever buy another one as long as they have their hooks on it.
Thank you for watching. I try and keep Bob's dream alive through re teaching his originals and giving them a little twist. I hope you get to paint your own version soon - Happy Painting Paul 😃😃😎😎
Your painting is so nice. I love all things Bob, but never like his first episode painting. I always wondered why he chose that one. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Anything is possible when your holding the brush! Have a look at some of my frozen lake / pond scenes for ideas. You'll need to study some photographs of the scenes you wish to create and maybe do a few smaller studies. This will help you develop the look of that sort of painting rather than try a whole scene and maybe come up short. 😀
Yours is much better ... funny, this Ross painting got reported here as sold for 1.2 million. I've seen other places that reported it as selling for 100 million ... the power of the press. The last painting he did on the series will probably sell for just as much but I have seen the inbetweeners sell for 20-30k.
Well if someone offers me 1% of the $10million I'd let it go! Thank you so much for thinking mine is a better painting. Of course Bob did his in 28 mins in a single take at the studio so I have to tip my hat to Bob. I've seen lots of the originals at the BR headquarters in Virginia and also some 'originals' purchased for a lot of money privately. Whilst I wouldn't call myself an expert there are some fakes that are not by his hand selling for a lot of money. But thats par for the course. Happy painting - Paul 😃😎
