Thanks for this video breakdown of your vacation spending. Sounds like you had a wonderful time! My family is going to SC soon and we will be staying in a condo on the beach. There will be 6 of us - our family of 3 and 3 of our son's friends. We stayed on the beach before in Maine, and it is 💯 worth every penny! I am nervous about this trip because we weren't able to save up as much as I had hoped (taxes and dental work took a big chunk money). We also found out last night that our son has been accepted in a marine biology class in Virginia (Chincoteague), and he will be traveling there a week after we return from our trip. Sooo.... our budget will be stretched very thin! We plan to cook most meals, at least for dinner, and I found some discount tickets for attractions we want to go to. The biggest expenses will be the condo ($2300), the rental van ($1200) and food. We will be driving halfway there and back because of my husband's health, so there will be 2 extra nights at hotels as well. Vacations are expensive, but like you, I didn't travel as a kid and I want to give my son special memories. Plus I'm self employed, so unless I go away, I really don't get a break.😅 Thanks again for the inspiration! ❤

I live 50 miles from Disney, it’s very expensive. Fortunately we can get a resident pass which makes it much cheaper. I have known people to drop $10,000 for a week at Disney

That amount is great for 5 people and everything that you did; 2 house rentals, car rental, gas, food, theme parks and restaurants. Wonderful. It’s worth it especially if the kids enjoyed themselves

Girl, I need to help you maximize those credit card rewards. You would be way better off getting a different credit card that earns more points for purchase and then transfer them to southwest. Or you can transfer them to a hotel or different airline instead of just being stuck with southwest.

Yeah I realize there’s probably better ways to maximize I just haven’t had the time to look into all the different options!

@@DearDebt if y’all like flying southwest you could get the chase sapphire preferred card. It transfers to southwest, plus Hyatt, United, IHG (holiday inn, etc), Marriott, and a ton of other airlines. It earns 3x points on dining, online grocery purchases, & streaming. I think most southwest cards only earn 2x on most categories. So you’d earn more points too, but it has a $95 annual fee that you can offset with a $50 credit when booking through their travel portal. I have a referral link if you are interested. We don’t pay for hotels or airlines anymore. 😊

Amy … this is the year Mr retires in June we have two big trips planned … 10 of us going to Abu Dhabi and Dubai to the Atlantis ( used miles for all of our flights ) and one of our sons is picking up hotel bill 😂… and then we are going as 7 of us to London and Edinburgh for the bag pipe tattoo which is a big deal at the castle … so yah …. Budgets are blown and I have been saving for this and Mr is taking a small distribution for the London trip 😂 we are very blessed so all of our boys ( 4 ) and wife’s grandchildren are traveling this summer … glenda

Hi Amy... that photo with the video on the beach 🏖️ is amazing 🤩🤩🤩 Yes I also try to get the cheapest flights ✈️ end up at the airport by 3 to leave by 6 lol. Thank you for this breakdown. I didn't travel much when I was growing up either. I went to LA for my Bday for 4 days in Jan spent a little over 2k that's hotel, tickets, food etc included

Whaaat’s going on with the Disney prices?! We went to Paris,stayed 2 night at their 5 star hotel and 3 days in the parks for $2000 in 2018… And we had some meals included in that price as well and some more perks. I’m not a huge fan either but it was a cool experience! Thanks for sharing your vacation budget, Amy! We went skiing in march and we did go over the boarder to Norway, but I don’t count that. It was fun for my kids though since they’ve never been in Norway before. We didn’t really do anything special there, just walked around a little bit 😅We have been talking about driving somewhere in Europe this summer but we shall see. I’m trying to do all of western Europe and I ”only” have Belgium, Netherlands, Andorra, Lichtenstein and Schweiz left. So we’ll might get to some of them…

Amazing I’m going to an all inclusive in Aruba on the beach. It’s like a luxury spa hotel thing and it’s 1000 a night basically for two people, but that includes food and drinks and it’s on the beach it’s actually the flamingo beach in Aruba so we can go feed the flamingos every day. I’m not a big spender but when the five nights came to 5000 I almost fainted then I realize life is short ❤

Traveling is generally so expensive for a family. I wish I could get CC rewards for flights but I lost my credit score since we paid off my school loan. Oh well probably better I don’t reopen that door lol

Yes sometimes credit cards are not worth it. We took a break for awhile with credit cards because we needed to build better financial habits first 👏🏻

Amen ! First flights usually on time (plane doesn’t have to come to you ) usually direct and usually the cheapest … it’s amazing when you show up at airport how many people are already there ! And during thunderstorm weather never book after 12 noon ! Glenda and we are southwest officanados !
