It's all by design. Record labels selectively promote this one type of music as if conscious rappers and black people who sing about genuine love don't exist anymore. You have to go out of your way to find black music that isn't about fucking and killing.
Idk how we tolerated SO MANY RnB songs with guys with deep voices whispering in our ears for the first 60 seconds before you got to the actual song. If you go listen to any jodeci song, it's so cringe. Love their music but hated listening to DeVante's annoying BS in the beginning of EVERY song.

From what I remember during my childhood, is that music videos used to be about simple singing, dancing, and selling of the music. Now, it seems like most music videos are only about sex appeals.
