I am so sorry that my grades were the last thing I shared, I meant to share them early on in the video since I know it is what most of you are waiting to see, but I still had another 30 minutes of footage that I completely cut since this video was so long already, so let me know if you want a part 2 with the rest of the footage!

Thanks for sharing your experience! You helped me make my decision to apply here and it’s been 2 months since I started. I’m so grateful for your tips, I still feel overwhelmed with the adjustment but these videos are super helpful to navigate 1L. Also, I work in the legal field and I can tell you, many lawyers don’t care about the grades unless you are in big law. My motto is “C’s get degrees.” We can always aim for B’s or A’s but I think passing the CA bar is more important since it’s considered the hardest exam in the country. Also, you are basically teaching everything yourself at NWCU! Getting passing grades each year is admirable.

This reminds me of Professor Bishop's comment. What do you call the lowest ranked lawyer? A lawyer. (or something like that) And I agree a lot of what you learn, the practical stuff, you learn on the job. But the grades may help you get the job if you have no experience. I'm also in the legal field (work as a paralegal) and every time I try to bring up stuff I learn in law school to my supervisor/attorney, he always seems disagrees with me. lol.

Im a current Harvard student who cross enrolls in law courses and honestly you’re not missing much. Pretty much all they do is tell you to read cases, brief them and read about them. Lecture wise they teach you nothing. The socratic method while it sounds cool is quite stupid if you think about it. It’s basically pay $100000 to do exactly what people do who are “reading the law.” It really does seem self taught in many regards. Im thinking of doing nwc school of law for this reason btw.

There was a follow up of Harvard law grads from 1990 in Esquire in 2007 found that "a look through the current class directory reveals that fewer than half the members of the Class of 1990 work in firms and roughly a quarter of those with entries do not appear to practice law."
@lumanate1493
@lumanate1493 5 месяцев назад
@@MH-zg5yw I would believe that. A majority if the people I know (and i have taken virtually all my elective at the law school) want to go into politics, entrepreneurship or academia. Very few want to actually become day to day lawyers. This is far different than the kids I have met from Boston U, Boston College, Suffolk, and Northeastern who I would say mostly want to practice law in some capacity. Ironically Suffolk despite it being sorta the “least prestigious” produces most of Boston’s court room trial attorneys. Says lots about the state of the law. The institutions with the most resources produce the fewest actual lawyers and the institutions with the fewest amount of resources end up being the ones that produce the lawyers the general population utilizes the most.

Examity is not an option anymore. The school now uses Respondus, which is great because you can take your exam anytime between the 11th month and last month without having to schedule it in advance or change appointments if needed. I think I signed up during the transition with Examity and was given the option to switch to Respondus, which I did. At this law school do you ever get a summer or winter break or is the program 52 weeks a year for 4 years straight?
@MacyySuee
@MacyySuee 2 месяца назад
It is 52 weeks straight for each year, but you do get approximately a month long break in between years while you wait for your finals to be graded and your enrollment documents to be processed. There are no breaks during the year, but if you are able to stay on top of, or slightly ahead, of where you need to be then I think it is fairly easy to take a short break at some point.

Whether at Harvard [or] at NWCU, everyone should achieve uniform mediocrity and occasional excellence in order to pass the bar examination. Wise students are not striving for an Am Jur award. This is a pass/fail test. Everybody who passes gets the same thing: a license to practice law. Good luck!

@erciliamota8125
@erciliamota8125 Год назад
@@poet82n I’m transferring for convenience/flexibility, and price. Being at a traditional school I’m able to see NWCU does not have as much to offer in comparison to a traditional school, but it’s a very good price for a JD degree. NWCU does not offer anything other than coursework (I think), so if you’re looking for more training, maybe a traditional school works better. But the price will of course be higher. I’m glad I was able to go through litigation training and clinical work under a supervising attorney at the school I’m at currently. I have received so much training and guidance in a traditional school. Most of my growth/preparation for law practice has come from that. But NWCU convenience and flexibility are really what I need at the moment. It makes attending law school doable for people who have busy lives.

Phenomenally good performance and appearance, so the question is how, since you look healthy and well, do you maintain taking care of yourself during a period of high study and advancement? I understand you are quite busy, planning events, studying a big case, editing RU-vid, and then being on the move. However, I would love to hear from you about how you manage to take care of yourself during such a high-pressure period. As the joke goes: A man calls a lawyer's office. The phone is answered, "Schwartz, Schwartz, Schwartz and Schwartz." The man says, "Let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." "I'm sorry, he's on vacation." "Then let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." Law school exams are based on a bell curve; meaning that the majority (median) students obtain C's and a certain number obtain B's and A. Thus, the grades are based on who wrote the best paper out of the rest of his/her classmates. It's a coemption among your peers! But in T14 schools the median is a B. So (I believe) many ppl strive to attend T14 school for this reason because they have a higher chance of becoming an associate at a Big law firm.
