The dry ingredients should be sieved together at least two times to ensure they are evenly mixed and distributed. Use exact measuring spoons and cups, not the usual ones we use in our kitchen.

Hi chechii I am 13 but I am a home Baker When I was making cake for first time it was full of blunders as you. The first mistake that you had done was dont add 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder only add 1/2 for 2 cups of maida. It will effect taste. Next is , dont mix wet batter and dry batter together. Add dry ingredients as some batches to egg batter it makes your cake more good . It's your fan :Riva ❤️

When I started baking, all the crows in my neighbour's used to feast on my failed attempts. So many flop shows and the number of things that can go wrong is so so high! Even over mixing, direction of mixing, voltage fluctuations, temperature of the butter can change the texture of the cake. So dont get disheartened, you will crack the recipe next time! Also, what is that foil doing in your oven? Would that have messed up the temperature?

Main mistake is, dont beat dry ingredients with wet ingredients, only do folding with spatula

Mistakes make a man perfect

You should sieve all dry ingredients I am sharing 1 small tip with you in a 1 cup maida if you add 2 table spoons corn flour you will get super sponge cake sista and you should sieve that atleast 4 times...And gradually if you do with eggs separate egg york and white and beat egg white until think peak forms or else take curd,Oil and add sugar to it..And I am sharing another tip with you...Don't add baking powder and baking soda by sieving them with maida after the batter ready then you add 1/2 tbspoon baking soda and 1 tbspoon baking powder and pour 1/2 tbspoon water in both at a time and then bake the cake..And your beautiful cake is ready..Hope this is helpful to you..Thank you😊

Actually the diameter of your baking pan is the problem, i too had a similar experience while making cake . Just try this receipe with a small baking pan, it will gives you the perfect one for sure .... also do check the level of cake from 25th minute with five minutes intervals ,so that this wont happen again !!! hoping to see more n more cooking videos including a perfect red velvet cake

While making a cake don't mix using electric beater to mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients use wisk and mix slowly if we use electric beater the bubbles which help to give the cake height while disappear that's the problem
