I'm probably the only person crazy enough to compare a vocaloid producer to a classic English author. If you like my stuff feel free to subscribe!

Bleh, got copyright claimed for the ending. The quality drops for about the last 3 seconds for the audio. But I figured that was better than just straight muting or blocking the video. Sorry about that folks. Thanks for watching!

To me, Lost One's Weeping is way more than just about school and how it crushes a kid's mind. Whenever I look at the lyrics, I also see it as showing that school is not only stressful, but also useless in many ways. In the chorus, you see regular school activities being compared to things about the heart, mainly stuff related to dark and suicidal thoughts. The second half especially doesn't pull any punches. "Can you solve the equation on your abacus? Can you also undo the choker on that kid?". The official wiki translation translates it as "choker" but most translations I've seen use the word noose. It's not just about school causing stress, it's also about school not teaching you how to help others or yourself when the emotionally weak is in need. I feel like that's an aspect a lot of people generally overlook.
@honeyedboba
@honeyedboba 3 года назад
i think it was even smarter to use rin’s voice for a song like lost one’s weeping. she has the voice of a kid that is trying their hardest, and the fact that she is meant to be so young just portrays the amount of stress on such young, impressionable minds even better. i love neru.

Neru is so inspiring. I used to think things like „in my next life I wanna become a musician.“ because I used to think you cannot make music if you haven’t been playing an instrument since you were like 4. Even tho I’m still kind of scared and ashamed of telling people about my dream of producing music, I might be on a good way to ask my parents for guitar lessons... Thank you for making this video! edit (may 2021): due to covid, I didn’t manage to get guitar lessons last year and I was afraid I would buy the "wrong" guitar and equipment without help, but now I’m sick of it. I don’t want to wait any longer so I‘ll probably get myself a Les Paul soon and start practicing on my own as good as I can!! edit (august 2021): I have been playing for around 2 months now!! Best decision ever, I have 0 regrets update, april 26th 2022: a lot happened last year which lead me to really hate playing the guitar and from one day to the next, i dropped everything. i have barely even touched my guitar since september of last year, but right now i just want to pick it up again, i want to practice again for me and myself only. it took me a long time to regain trust in me and my abilities, but now my goals are clear set.

@@ubnubmaster I was about to comment same thing, as I think aside from Lost One's Weeping and Rolling Girl, I listened and still do listen most to PinocchioP's songs. From ones like Common World Domination to Beautiful Fiction to Yozurina, his lyrics and style has been really interesting to me, especially with how his songs seemed to be turning to talk about more positive things (Mei Mei) but there is also still Ghost Play to The Audience, which always felt like him feeling trapped by his own format of "weird songs with earworm bop beats" feeling too limiting, though he did recently started to use Miku less to sing himself more/get live on stage etc. Then there is also whole his older Vocaloids are Lame song which I think was a response to old Vocaloid producers "turning their backs on Vocaloids" (I recall people connecting the rocket scene as a shout out to some other producer?) and how even in his newer songs he uploads with himself auto tuning his own voice, there is still drop of Miku there... and subject topics of his songs in general... Definitely would love to see someone discuss his works/him in general, especially someone who puts work into it

Neru's songs were a little refuge I had in my school days, (10 to 18 years old) that helped me keep my cool, I felt too much empathy with them. You know, the typical story where your parents can't help pay for your studies so part of your family does it with very good intentions, but being reminded every day and being pressured to get at least 9/10 is a headache. I was relieved to hear things like World dominatio How to But if I had to choose the one I have come to identify with the most, "Lost one weeping", even after so much, right now it hits me enough to make me sensitive. I thank him from the bottom of my soul.

Neru is for us what the discovery of Hard Rock and Metal was in the 1970. He just screamed out what we wanted to scream out. He made Rin scream with his instrumentals, when her voice couldn't and we felt it. It was like the first time a Vocaloid has screamed and we wanted to scream with her.

is funny to click on this video, so hyped and thinking that i was isolated in my love for neru, then reading the coments and paying all of my attention to the video, and not feeling so alone in this admiration for neru and his work it have been years since the first contact i got with neru, i dont remember well which song was exactly, but i remember, and keep hearing to these days, tokyo teddy bear, that song meant to me so much for years, during my adolescence i related to the song deeply and changed me, the same way a lot of ppl relate to evangelion, that talk about seemed subjects, and i found in neru some form of company and support, in a pointof my life in where i feel completely alone. I loved every neru song heard, even hearing them for the first time without knowing the artist and saying to myself "hey, this is really good, is this from neru?" and then realizing i was right i apreciate a lot that you covered neru! for all that it meant to me, i also love specially his evolution, that i didnt knew a lot about, those first songs before abstract nonsense, i really admire how he started with such a complex subjects about school, war and anxiety and he didnt got stuck on that, evolving to have a new style that fits the social problems that he talks about today in "whatever whatever whatever" and "snobbism" i love how you capture and express all the feelings that made neru important, and well, talking about something so "underground" but special to ppl that conected with it it seems like your channels is vocaloid artists centered so i will give it a look, and i wanted to ask, since someone else in the comments asked for pinocchiop, are you interested in covering other artist in the media related to vocaloid? ppl like kairiki bear or maretu, or maybe ppl not so directly related to vocaloid but with something interesting to say, like mafumafu, eve or miyashita, if you dont know them, take a look to their music, is really really good, again, this was a really great videom thank you!

Hey Luis! Yeah I honestly really love people related to vocaloid but aren't exactly involved in it and pay attention to it as well. Like Bunka by Eve is a personal favorite album of mine. Okay, being brand new to vocaloid & literally pausing this video to listen to these songs for the first time, could you plz give me a starting place for Neru's music. It just seems so vast & overwhelming that I don't want to just leap out into the void on my own & miss the good stuff, or just hit the popular stuff & miss the hidden gems. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me. I really appreciate it! I feel like vocaloid, & the anime culture, in general, is the very first thing in my entire life that I discovered & became engrossed in entirely on my own, & didn't just "inherit," like my Mom's love of reading or my Dad's love of classic rock. I literally don't know another soul who is into the anime culture (I'm calling it that cuz it's all I know to call it. Plz forgive me if I'm wrong) & that makes it very special to me. It's the 1st thing that is mine & mine alone & I want to know as much about it, & in my own shy, closed-off way, be a part of it as I can.

I think The Lost One Weeping is almost all of us asians experience in school. I'm not japanese, but I'm experiencing that. Like your parents told you to go to this school and despite you don't want to and they still enroll you in there. And in my country there's a hierarchy between The science and social studies classes. The science one is deemed superior compared the social study one, so all parents want their kids to enroll there one of them is my parents. Despite knowing that I sucks at the most subject in there they're still enroll me there. I end up having a breakdown because I can't keep up with the materies and my grades aren't the best either. And I do tell them that I can't do it, I mean surviving in there for 3 years. I do know my parents want me to push myself. But yeah, I snapped in the 2nd year. I still remember that day, it was nightmare. I was afraid to go outside because I feel their judging me because I can't do a simple formula or because the last test score is garbage. It was scary and I still felt like that when I make mistake even it was a small one. It was the worst feeling that you can feel. Like you just want to bury yourself alive every time. And it happened to me again when I was applying to university, well this time I do have some liberties to choose but there are still some majors that my parents don't want me to pick and one of them is my choice HELL it was my first choice. So yeah... You all know the continuation of this :)) and yes, it's stressful, but this is the only thing that I can do for my parents. And it's not like I don't like the thing that I studied right now. But seeing someone from the my first choice major doing their own thing I still get jealous sometimes and I still get to study it, but not in a formal way its just self study and a hobby and my parents supports it by providing books for my self study. It is stressful but I think, if you do talk it to your parents I think they'll understand and change their mind or at least somehow ease your suffering by a bit wwww.

My first song by Neru was Lost One's Weeping. Back then when I was busy scrolling through a news feed full of vocaloid posts I saw this some kind of song from him then people kept on saying how sad it is (or relatable) then when I listened to it I never really understood what was the definition of "sad" was in this song (because of the catchy tune) then I kinda saw another version of it with English lyrics. This was the third song that totally hit me (my first was Rolling girl and Just be friends was my second) And during rainy days I would usually listen to it whenever I feel depress because it just eases it up and it cheers me up telling be that whenever you feel like breaking just remember, there is still good waiting for you at the end of the road.

I legit cried at the end of your explaination. Instant sub from me. I'm going on a marathon watching every single video you have on vocaloid as much as I can. I have been in love with vocaloid since I was 12 and I remember I left it behind because I thought it wasn't popular or good anymore and now as a 19 year old I wonder why I even did that. The lyrics even hit more from Neru's songs because of the expectations but on me as the eldest child that I'm constantly worried about my future especially my second thoughts of becoming an artist and to own my own business it's something I dream of to do and contribute to my country but reaching there is harder than I thought especially in Jamaica. However, I still find myself trying and receiving comfort from the persons who already have been there and this video sums it up for me.

wonderful analysis. great job! i agree with you wholeheartedly-- i see Neru's CYNICISM album as a concept album focused on the very perspective of cynicism itself, particularly as satirical commentary on the 21st century social condition. it's pessimistic, it's disillusioned, and it's oh-so-very Neru. just as Abstract Nonsense marked a turning point in realizing the power of his music to make statements on society with astounding emotional impact, i think "modern" Neru's works mark where his messages transition from being about adolescence (you notice school-related imagery in a lot of his older works-- World Domination How-To, Lost One's Weeping, Abstract Nonsense, etc.) to being about adulthood. there's an ongoing progression in his music about the hell that is growing up through an emotionally-intense teenagehood then being thrown out into the "real world" and how people cope with their feelings of distrust against the world, whether that be shrugging everything off like in Whatever Whatever Whatever or finding a sick sense of comedy in how fu*ked everything is like in SNOBBISM. if you haven't guessed already, i'm doing my own analysis on Neru and his work, haha. again, wonderful video and you've got yourself a new subscriber. cheers man!

Neru was one of my favorite producers at the type, I still get chills every time I hear Tokyo teddy bear. Tokyo teddy bear still holds strong and so does last ones weeping, back then and now it fits so we'll into a music scene that you can say no matter what time that this song was made a week ago and anyone would accept that. That's as far as I see it that is.

Awesome video and I'm so happy to see you talk about one of my favourite producers! As someone who prefers rock over pop Nerus songs just fit my taste more than many other vocaloid songs. When Tokyo Teddy Bear and Abstract Nonsense were released back then I immediately fell in love with them. I've always loved his kinda obscure style in art and music. While his songs show a lot of diversity there is always this certain essence that makes his works very recognizable. Abstract Nonsense, The Disease Called Love and Whatever, Whatever, Whatever all sound very different but they still sound like Neru. In my opinion that's the most important thing for a very good producer. By the way I'm happy we didn't have to wait long for the next video and I hope everything is going well with your job situation right now :)

Lost One’s Weeping was the song that really got me into vocaloid and made me realize how so many songs on the scene spoke to me in such a way, the melody and fast pace of neru's songs make me feel at ease. Now that I am older and interested in vocaloid again, I can't believe that the songs that I used to blast in middle school would speak truth to me even more, almost 6 years later.

while I haven't listened to much of neru's music, lost ones weeping was so emotional for me since i really related to how i prefer math and science due to there being a simple right and wrong answer, and the pressure to do well or not be accepted into a good school, or just accepted in life. whatever whatever whatever is something that i love listening to, again since I can relate to it and i love the newer music with the more vibrant colors in the music videos and upbeat melody with the deeper, meaningful lyrics. oh my god i used to listen to tokyovania control, which i thought was an undertale song, and i never knew it was a remix of tokyo teddy bear-

When they had their first Expo in Europe, a german newspaper wrote an article about it asking people about it. One person answered that Mikus music really reflects her inner feelings. We (me and three people i met that day) were laughing about that. Not about the person or the sentence, more about the fact that it can't be more cliche right? "Why do you like this music?", "It really shows how i feel inside". Right after it, we were talking about our favourite songs and producers. When i answered (honestly) wowaka and Neru, the girl in the group gave me a look that i'll never forget. Obviously she was thinking that Neru reflects my inner feelings and got frightened immediately. To be honest: It kind of does.

I usually don’t know creators, i have a hard time remebering stuff and, because of that, I didn’t realize that Neru was such a great composer, and didn’t realize that he is the producer of possibly my favorite song: the last one’s weeping. I genuinely made an essay for no one in particular about this song because of how much i love it and how it captures me in ways other songs never could. Not only that, but it also describes me well. I didn’t realize how much i loved neru’s style. I am so happy that this was recomended to me.

I didn't know the name 'Neru' until YEARS after I'd already been listening to his music. The one that definitely stuck with me the most but also makes me sad at how underrated it is, was 'Jailbreak' :((( Also, not sure if you'll see this or if you know him, but I'd love to see you do a video on Niru Kajitsu! He's relatively new to the vocaloid scene (appearances beginning in only 2018) but he quickly became one of my favorite producers.
