I am so proud of the team. In my opinion we went into the tournament 6th favourite behind the big three, SA and SL. I had written them off as most of us did down here.
With the way things shaped up for them and the way they played too, couldn't be more evident of destiny being very real. This win for these legends was written in the stars.
Thanks for covering this man. Seeing long term stalwarts like Tahuhu, Bates and Devine along with NZ's rising stars Kerr and Carson lift the World Cup is just absolutely amazing. Especially when you consider the last 12 months for the team where they've only won 3 games. Absolutely brilliant stuff and brilliant vid as always. Shout out for Devine, the Kerr sisters and Plimmer - all from the same school in Wellington - Tawa College - and a shout out to the Kerr sisters' granddad, the late Bruce Murray, the former test cricketer and Tawa College principal for laying the platform for this unexpected success. And on a weekend when the men won their first test in India in 1988, Liam Lawson finished 9th in his first full time F1 race despite starting dead last, America's Cup four peat.. what a time to be a Kiwi!! NZ represent!!
Carson is a future talent - not saying it as a biased Otago fan and coz I know her story - she grew on a farm in Ranfurly, went to boarding school in Dunedin (St Hilda's), got coached by Neil Rosenberg who helped uncover 4 other cricketers for the Otago Sparks at St Hilda's. Had been calling for her to bowl in tandem with Melie Kerr for so long. And here's the result. Kerr can focus more on her batting knowing Carson is just as capable at stopping the runs.
In the big ICC tournaments they choke like you wouldn’t believe. They need to take a leaf out of their rugby team’s book. They’ve won 4 World Cups and are the most successful nation when it comes to Rugby World Cups.
So NZ or SA arent expected to win the CWC so they arent really chokers countries like Australia,India and England are the real chokers when they dont win because they are expected to win.
India probably thought they will easily get past NZL, it was obvious that NZL were a better team and hammered India. Great result to Suzy, Sophie and Lea, with the entire team.
You think winning in sports like cricket, rugby, field hockey, softball, ice hockey, baseball, american football, australian rules football, laccros, gellic football - are a success? All these sports exist between very-very few countries.
Totally agree about Suzie Bates - she has been one of my favourite cricketers for a long time. I hope she gets inducted in tho the ICC Hall of Fame, but will the absence of tests be a barrier to that?
Watched the England tour last Summer in NZ and some of the young NZ players are going to be pretty special. Melie Kerr is already World Class and would walk into any team.
Geez nz seems to be winning every thing these days, womens rwc that boat that slaughted everyone the list goes on well done to them and the nz cricket girls, fan from australia...
Not opening, test match arenas is the weird aspect in women's cricket, apart from this Dubai under light because of lack of night matches even day night have different capital acquisition in cricket marketing.
A lovely day for the kiwis !!!!! Lots of love ❤️❤️❤️ KIWIS.Amelia played most of the innings perfectly in the final match. But for 7 runs she missed a 50.❤❤❤❤BUT ITS OKAY!!!!!!!! Love ❤️ u Amelia and good played KIWIS.❤❤ Dear Kiwis Love from GURIA SPEAKS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why? Not as if Australia played like world beaters, NZ restricted them to gettable totals, but always bat in quick sand against them, beat themselves rather than Australia being an invincible juggernaut everyone seems to think! Now have the belief to do a SA and get those moderate totals Aussies set winning by 7/8 wkts,! Ofc leave it to Aussies to have a begrudging sook...
@@thrusta100 I knew this would ruffle a couple sensitive feathers. I’m not saying Australia were owed that championship nor am I taking anything away from a deserving winner in New Zealand. Just felt like Australia’s to lose especially now after the winner was a team they swept in a series. Sorry to speak the truth champ, I don’t really care if Australia can’t win every single match they play (especially if they win a lot) 😂 at least it feels like there’s some competition to go against now
@@bencrabtree5647don't worry mate. Kiwi here and there is something hollow to this as a fan not having to beat Australia or England along the way, especially as those fabled 11 losses in a row before the world cup (not counting world cup warmups) were all against Australia and England. Preceding that there were 6 white ball games against Pakistan and it was 3-3. A little luck of the draw and the bowlers getting hot at the right time and the batting being just useful enough.
@@howgoodistravel you could see those losses as the games needed to build up this team. Apart from Amelia, Sophie and Suzie, the rest are not fully professional nor are they able to count on a high quality domestic setup to improve their skills. They have to do that at the international stage. India, England and Australia have the money and the structures. They even play Test cricket. Your gals don't have the luxury of rubbing shoulders with international players week in and out.
@@Sid-e5y baseball is boring as a very slow game and thats coming from a sports fan from a country that have won more softball world titles than anyone NZ
