@@NotUrDJ Yeah, but to think of some of the names who have played: Murali, Herath, Mendis, and a whole bunch of other tweakers who are a handful in spinning conditions elsewhere! I wonder if it is just a batting era flat pitch thing, or there is a more systemic trend.
@@sushreyomisra3261i dont think Herath and Mendis have played a lot of tests in India. Plus India had Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly , Laxman and Sehwag, one of the better batting lineup against spin when they had just Murali, Jayasuriya , Malinga Bandara and Dilshan
@@pulseofages Herath played 5 tests (which is about on par with how many he played in other countries), picking 12 wickets @54.33. Mendis played just one test.
@@JoeWilliamson-613not saying he is but his wicket changed the situation from having gone a full session without a wicket and scoring at 5 runs an over to a fresh batsman the next day.
In NZ, our weather plays a huge part. Sometimes we get dry summers, but mostly they are humid, lots of rain mixed in with sunshine, and the pitches don't break up, so it is very hard to become a quality spinner. Ajaz Patel on the previous tour took all 10 wickets in one Indian innings, then was dropped immediately in the next test at home in NZ.
Yes, bang on with what happened, the wicket really suited us, we'll take the win with glee and brace for the next two Tests. It's extremely hard to develop as a spinner in NZ, the playing pool is so small that wicket taking bowlers, seamers, will always get preference in rep teams trying to win tournaments at age group level. Plus spin bowling in NZ is a different art to bowling spin in Asia. Anyway, great day for NZ cricket, the girls have just won the T20, every ICC tournament win for us is priceless.
It is ironic that jarrod who analyses cricket for a living got most of his recent prediction wrong Like saying NZ v India is 0-3 for sure or Nz and wi have no chance in women's World Cup Shows you why we play the game 😅
True, predictions are meant to be flawed. There are a million things that even a supercomputer cannot account for, which is, as u said, why we watch and love the game.
I've been telling this to my friends a lot.. Facing Ajaz Somerville Bracewell and GP in the nets, and going out to face Ashwin Jadeja Kuldeep Axar in the game are almost two different sports, and that's why it's tough to even expect NZ batters to play spin well in India.. Credit to the way they have tackled the spin trio till now. Things will change drastically in Maharashtra (Pune/Mumbai)
Some Indian fans are all bent out of shape by this victory. Give credit where its due. NZ bowled well on a pitch that suited their seamers. The Indian Captain may have been doing it by the numbers - bat first in India, make a huge score on an unresponsive track and then bowl them out twice on a bunsen. Did not go by the numbers or at least not the numbers India were expecting. NZ got to bat on it when it was heading towards its best. India got to bat on it in the second innings at its best but collapsed against the second new ball, where again the NZ seam attack bowled well in conditions that did not suit them. The pitch was not playing wild tricks on the last day due to it being damp previously and therefore it had not dried out sufficiently to start misbehaving. So, yes fortunate to have use of a pitch that was doing things, but not their fault as NZ did not win the toss and would have batted anyway. Skilful use of the ball by Henry and O'Rourke won them the game, and the batting of Ravindra. Southee's batting was a surprise bonus. No doubt the next two pitches will be rank turners to suit the home attack, as it should be. If you have skills use them.
Everyone going on about NZ not winning in India for 36 years. India have only won a single test in NZ in the last 49 years and only five tests in total in NZ. India had a gap of 33 years between test victories in NZ - 1975-2008.
@@09anup09 Yeah - that was the one match that they won - other two tests in that series drawn against a weak NZ side. Two series they've won 1967 and 2008. Since 1967 they've only won two tests in NZ.
Oo really 😂😂..India won test series back to back in Australia Nz not only in India but also in Asia general is a 🤡 team.. And add to that Nz are absolute comedy pieces in Australia And can't even win an away series in Wtc hometrack bulleys
Rohit Sharma and the selectors made a major blunder at the start of this test, but the fact that New Zealand converted it to a win after India's counterattack is a testament to their persistence and talent.
Rohit been making blunders for a while. Pope took the game away early this year. Axar Patel blunder in T20WC final. Got bailed out by the seamers. Now this test.
Cricket world is so Blind... I don't know why they only praise cricketers when they achieve something unbelievable... Name one t20 specialist who is better in t20 then Philips and is playing test as all rounder... Head comes close but not at all better...
Lol we will talk at the end of the series. If it wasn't for the tricky first day kiwis would have been washed. first since 30 years...only with the help of a tricky pitch. Take it !! Can't wait for game 2 to see the true colors.
@@anurag9666 Ok last time Taylor and Williamson played here they scored 365 in first innings against Zaheer Umesh and young Ashwin and took a 12 run lead. Batting wasnt the problem then. They took 20 wickets for the first time here.
When India tour Nz they get proper grass field where pitch and outfield cannot be differentiated. Now when they came India they gave almost same conditions 😂 I hope next test will be a proper rank turner which turns square from ball one so that India gives back what Nz deserves and also what Nz gave India
@@XZagatoX still nowhere nere Jimmy Neesham aided by some Indian fans about 2019 World Cup final 😂😂😂😂😂😂 And third class Nz team and fans like you who are celebrating 1 win in Asia after an age😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 No time to cry..will see Kane Williamson face
There are three kinds of pitch... grassy field , dusty pitch , flat hard pitch like tennis .. grass pitch is a traditional field unlike indian doctored pitch😂😂😂
As always I am disappointed with Rohit Sharma taking wrong decision in crucial moment. He chose Jadeja and Kuldeep over Ashwin. Even after they were leaking runs & not taking wickets. He keeps on making the same mistake again and again. He made the sam mistake in ODI world cup final where he gave over to spinners instead of Siraj & made the same mistake again in last T20 World Cup by giving spinners an over instead of Hardik Pandya even when spinners were leaking too many runs. We were lucky that Indian pacers pulled off a miracle in those last 5 overs. Rohit Sharma must improve his decision making on whom he should give over to in crucial moment of the game.
