Throughout the 77 years that the NBA has existed, I have never seen a big man that dominated the league like Nikola Jokic.
Sure.. Wilt was a freak in his time… so was Shaq.. and.. you can literally throw in the names of every great big man that has played the game.. but at the end of the day, none of them stand a chance against Jokic in terms of overall dominance.

Jokić is like a football midfielder, very smart, skillful and plays for the team. The guy is zero selfishness. Currently the best basketball player in the world. It's beautiful to watch him play. He looks like he's tired for most of the game, but he's not. It seems to me that he does it on purpose, precisely to leave the markers without knowing what to know... He really deserves this season's MVP. I think he should have been one of the captains of the Allstar.

"Right now..." Honestly, while it is always hard to say who the 'best' passer is... you can compare assist to turnover ratio... average number per 48 minutes... total in a career... any way you look at it... he has to be in the conversation... after all... the rest of the top 4 or 5 are guards except for LeBron and the modern 'wing' (listed as a Small Forward) is really a guard in the 'motion' offensive sets of today's NBA.

I've been following NBA and ABA basketball for over a half a century and I can honestly say I have never seen a player with such high IQ and skills at his size 7 ft, also he has to be the most unselfish player in the game today averaging over 10 assists a game which is insane for a player his size 💪☝️🔥 !

That is pure Serbian street basketball. He only applied love for this game and without what the general mainstream of professional basketball means. He just plays THE GAME without a shred of egotism which is characteristic of 99.99% of good players. Most of the guys are losing themselves by playing in front of the public for public, looking cool and looking good, and feeding their own egos. This guy plays for the game and to win, and can not care less if he looks good, strong as an animal, fast or handsome... You would be ridiculed on the street basketball in Serbia for all that egoism and show-off. The goal is to win, the focus is to score and not to be a loser.

The Eastern Europeans are some of the greatest athletes in the world because of this...no ego, and believe in hard work, intelligent anaylisis, and logic. They don't think it's all bout natural ability. They think it's about technique and commitment. It's amazing how they dominate tennis. Even when they come form another country, you see Eastern European backgrounds: Raonic, Shapovalov Pospisil, and Andreescu in Canada, Hinigs from Switzerland, Wosniacki in Denmark, Zverev in Germany, Tsitsipas in Greece (Russian mother), and many more......I counted a couple of years ago that something like 60% of the top 50 women players in the world were either Eastern European or people whose parents came from Eastern Europe.

@@culifabrizio1479 stockton is underrated as an overall player but his passes are overrated, 80% of his assists were sending to the big boy Malone and let him work in the post and that was consider an assist. I'm not discrediting Stockton I'm just saying that the level of difficulty and execution of his passes were 1 sometimes 2 levels below other elites, he was a safe passer, he almost never went to a high risk high reward play which gave him an amazing stability and a very long career but maybe that was a factor for his no rings career too.

Right now, Joker looks like MVP; it´s not a brainer. However, I always favour him just because of one thing: he plays such a beautiful game! It is fun to watch, and it must be fun to play with him.

I think that's the key. Both Larry and NIkola's teammates can't wait to go to work when he's out there playing. He makes it so much fun that they put in a lot more effort because he's noticing all the things they do.

The thing that amazes me is that by watching him I've improved my game. I'm 40, a bit overweight and a big (6'5") in my social competition. I've been copying his moves and my points have gone up and so have my assists (already my best stat apart from offensive boards). I just love how he plays as I can relate to it, but as I didn't grow up with streetball a lot of the NBA just isn't a style that interests me.

Best passer in the league, best big man in the league, best passing big of all time, top 5 passers all time, top 10 bigs of all time (behind only Russell, Chamberlain, Kareem, Hakeem, and Shaq). If he gets one or two rings in this competitive era I think he should be considered top 20-25 all time nba players, and as it stands I think he’s top 50 already

People say he’s not very athletic. But he knows how to use his size and has “court sense” or smarts like Larry Bird or magic. He’s also perfected the fundamentals. You can clearly tell he’s put the work in. He never gets rattled either. Tough.

As the best ball handling big player, Joker is first of all having fun on the court which is relevant to the term game, basketball game. All of his MVP contenders are working hard and having less fun than Joker. When Joker's team wins he has the ultimate fun and pleasure, and when his team loses the game he knows that all is just a game. He has brought to the NBA several innovations; like the big play maker 5/1, Sombor shuffle or Joker's double and even triple pirouette.

When you fall in complete love with your game it alone becomes your passion. The fans, teammates, awards all might be a part of it but never mean more than those special moments in action and motion on the field. That's you in your niche and the only path there is through the heart. When you get old you remember the action...this guy Jovic is dominating a game his way. Don't point fingers , he's worked very hard, he's having fun, and earned it.

Jokic plays the game Like Magic did: a full understanding that at the end of the day the "W" is all that is important. Right now, no team in the league has figured out how to defend him and he is taking advantage of that fact. He is an excellent passer, just like Magic was. That passing ability puts the man defense on its heals trying to cover passing lanes that his team mates create with their movement. Jokic knows he doesn't need to carry the scoring load, and doesn't appear that he even wants to. So he thinks pass first, score if needed. He is watching the defense for the lane when they converge on him to double team. He's watching for what they give him - not forcing some magical event to happen. Watch for how many times their is a Nugget shooter in the corner waiting for the pass with no defender even aware they are there. That's why they get beat, bad, bad defensive errors. Some team will invent an answer to him. It might look like the late 80's Pistons of putting a series of hard bodies and almost to harsh fouls on him to wear him down or making consider changing his offense. I wish the commentators would stop with the dynasty talk. the Nugget have won only one Championship. If they stay intact as a team, they should have a chance at a few more. But the rest of the league hasn't stopped playing. The Nuggets still need to beat the other teams. I'm pretty sure Steph Curry isn't going to retire in the off season because he's got his ring and thinks he'll never get another one.

Footwork doesn't compare? For his size and length, his footwork is top tier. Taller and longer athletes, regardless of the sport, are always less hand eye coordinated. His footwork is incredible.

The problem is people assume to be a great basketball player you have to be a great athlete. Fundamentals, vision, and passing to get the best shot will always trump athletics in the long run. And that's something the player focused NBA of today cannot abide because it reveals their lack of these things.

Years ago there was a list of players compared to what car or truck they'd be. They called Chris Weber a Jaguar because he's over priced and always in the shop. Nikola Jokic would be the "Sleeper" because he looks slow but he smokes you when it's time to go.

In his 14 seasons, Wilt Chamberlain never fouled out of a game, regular season or playoffs. He averaged 45.8 minutes a game over those 14 seasons, including one season where he averaged 48.5 minutes. That's every minute of every game, including overtime.

A modern Bird who does it more effortlessly. Isn't as obsessive as Bird. But still probably a good comparison. Shows what a Bird team would do in todays field of teams. Most of today's players act like they are on the Harlem Globetrotters showing off. Makes them popular and makes money too. I think the skyscraper is the guy doing it against them and establishing himself as the Alpha Dog while making it look easy.

Slow white guy that has unbelievable court awareness. I can not even remember another player besides Bird that does what he does. And i saw Bird with the Indiana State Sycamore's with only 1 decent role player, making it all the way to the NCAA finals. Magic was smooth as a gravy sandwich. Bird, just got it done with the same results.

You can see how the leauge is adapting to jokers passes. What looks near dangerous passes are starting to get cut off by players clogging those unique passes

You can see how you are just saying weird things without realizing what you say, there is no adapting to the passes of Jokic, because those passes are in theirselves the adaptions. They come after the defender's read. Nobody is forcing you to be a fan of him, or even like him for that matter, but, just don't lie please.

I think his haircut says a lot, all these guys with fancy heads that must cost hundreds and spent hours primping. Jokic walks in the corner barber and orders a #2 clipper cut, or even more likely has his wife or brother clipper cut his head every few weeks. He flows like water on the court, maybe not fast, maybe not slow, boulders, trees, cross currents, nothing stops the water.
