How Ninjago NAILED the Next-Generation Trope! 

I liked how Dragons Rising still refers back to the original pilot episode when Lloyd was training Arin and Sora. "complete the training course before I finish my tea, then we will see if you are ready."

Absolutely agreed. Even if the Ninja won't be the main focus anymore, Arin and Sora will still stand to make the new generation rise.

I dont mind if Lego wants to keep Ninjago around to make more money if the show is well written

It makes me so happy that this series didn't end but it also makes me sooooo sad to see our ninja all grown up

I have been seeing a lot of love for the next generation and the way the writers went with it and I have to agree they don’t disrespect the old characters and are so far developing the new characters and I’m so happy Lloyd is finally becoming a master something they have been hinting at since season 5

You know speaking on a new generation i always wanted to see a Ninja that used Magic similar to Clouse. Maybe they could use either illusion magic or well some unique type if magic

Hey Tanner, i found your channel not too long ago and I wanted to say I love your content.

i like dragon rising, but do hope they answer some questions from older ninjago seasons which are questions people want answered like will we ever see jay's mother etc and learn more about og ninja on side and there parents more.

When I saw this title, I was just humming the Star Trek: The Next Generation theme.

The Lego group was very very smart. This is the best way to introduce new characters and generations in my opinion.

I think Dragons Rising works so well. It is a very smooth transition from Crystalized and allows fans to easily connect the 2 timelines up. Having many new faces was also amazing espically since in Crystalized there weren't really any new characters. I am so happy to see the ninja start to teach new students and yet still have a younger apperance rather then them just skipping to when they are all old like Master Wu. I am also all for the new team including more girls. I can't wait so see where Lego will take part 2.

Especially now a days it’s so rare for the old generation to be respected in a franchise. Usually they are turned into jokes to make the new generation look better. I’m looking at you Star Wars and Indiana Jones

I will say that, even though the original 6 Ninja aren't the 'main characters,' per se, anymore, it's fun to watch them evolve as teachers in the background. Lloyd has gone from being basically a Master Wu parody to a more humble version of himself. And I love how he learns just as much from Sora and Arin as Sora and Arin learn from him.

In the future it would still be cool to have the ninjas kids I hope we see more of Euphrasia in part 2

They sure did nail it. They'd nail it more if the put Wu 6 feet under in the next part. It would cement Lloyd as the official leader and Sensei, progressing his Master In Training Arc that was seemingly put on pause since season 11.

I’m Very Happy That The Lion Guard did the Brand New Characters while Keeping the Old Characters thing They Introduced Us to King Simba and Queen Nala’s Son Kion who was the Main Character of the Series and They Introduced Us to The Rest of the Lion Guard Bunga, Fuli, Ono and Beshte who were Also New Characters and New Villain Characters as well Like Janja The Hyena, Makucha the Leopard and so On They Kept The Old Movie Characters as Well Like King Simba, Queen Nala, Kiara and The Famous Villain Scar this was Such a Smart and Fantastic Decision by the Lion King Franchise Team they Introduced us to Brand New Characters while Keeping the Old Movie Characters in the Series and I’m so Happy that Ninjago Dragons Rising Sequel Series is doing this as Well Hooray Can’t Wait for the Future Generation of Ninja To Come in The Future of Ninjago Dragons Rising Sequel Series😎🔥❤

Hot take: I don't want Arin to be an elemental master. He should instead completely master spinjitzu on a level not seen since FSM and take it the next level (see Arin transfering spinjitzu to an object). Well, not to say he should become the ULTIMATE spinjitzu master, but a very-good-no-joke spinjitzu master.

So me and my brother are long time ninjago fans but we’re not to much in the fandom but of course if there’s a new season we watch it and me and him both loved dragons rising and he said “what if arin is the next in line to be the elemental master of Spinjitzu” and I honestly like that theory

Um, Tanner, DR isn't a complete Next-Gen, its inspired by it but it is its own thing. The new characters; Arin, Sora, & Riyu are yes, the new mains, but the ninja are still main characters, too, just not as prominent as the new characters are! The series's focus is like 60/40; Arin, Sora, & Riyu are the 60% & the ninja are the 40%, if you really want to push it, its 70/30; Arin, Sora, Riyu as 70%, the ninja as 30%, but 60/40 is more accurate. & I personally LOVE how DR can be the same thing as b4, but also be new & fresh!!! Its a mix of Next-Gen trope with ALOT of its own stuff! I love how it handled it!!! & remember, DR is still part of the main series, just new chapter. Its a new show technically, just like Secrets of Spinjitzu (fan title I've seen ppl use), but still part of the main series of Ninjago! Ninjago has 3 chapters; Masters of Spinjitzu, Secrets of Spinjitzu, & now Dragons Rising!! If you deny this then you're just lying to yourself! DR is a sequel, nothing more! & do you think we could at some point in the far future see a REAL soft-reboot with either the new DR mains or the ninja's children as the mains, & have the ninja still there, but even less than DR!? It could work if done correctly! Btw, I LOVE Sora! She got SO much better in Ep 6 which I didn't know was possible cuz I already loved her!! But, don't worry, Arin & Riyu are also AWESOME!! LOVE them!! Arin has his Spinjitzu Skill, an ability some ppl just have that has nothing to do with Elemental Powers, & Sora the Tech Ninja are SO awesome!!!! I CAN'T wait to see more of DR!!! & imagine Sora, Arin, Riyu, Euphrasia, & Wyldfye being a new team, that'd be SO awesome! While still, ofc having the main ninja be prominent as well!!! I dissagree. They pretty much did the opposite. The characters need an emotional attachment to older characters in order for the majority fanbase to continue with them, not follow any mary sue tropes, and above all, be origonal. They failed at all of that. Unlike something like monkie kid which nailed it.

Thanks so much! I love the original Ninjago , but think that Dragons rising works perfectly with having each ninja have their own train there on students and have their own monastery or dojo. Even though I think it works great I did like it just 6 ninjas with other elemental masters instead of a lot of ninjas! 🥷
