#nofap #programming Hi all, different video this one. Regular programming will resume from next week. Music massobeats - breeze: • massobeats - breeze (r...
It is not always. This video is referring to entertainment as bad habits. While if done too much, they do in fact become that but so does everything, even doing "good things". It does good to you to take a break and entertain yourself by going out with friends, playing video games etc, especially after a long day, if you just don't do it too much. Also one thing I have noticed is that if I do what I believe was referred to as "stealth learning" in this video (meaning watching tutorials, reading manuals and other ways of learning something without actually trying to learn it 100%), I get burned out waaaay faster and doing it becomes painful even tho it was really fun before. That's why it is just important to have breaks and sometimes just do literally nothing.
NoFap is pseudoscience. There is no evidence that nofap helps you with anything. NoFap claims are worse than what flat Earthers say. Only a person that slept in biology classes in school can become NoFap. NoFap was started as a sarcastic joke by some kid and it was then taken seriously by uneducated, guillible people and religious crazies. You can't be addicted to masturbation In order for something to be called an addiction it needs to have a widrawal effect, it needs to make your brain physically dependent on it and it needs to interfere with your normal daily functioning. Masturbation doesn't do either one of these three things. Also, there is nothing wrong with having a lot of sexual partners before marriage. In order for behavior to be immoral it needs to have negative effect on society. If everyone has a lot of sexual partners before marriage and uses contraceptives there are no unwanted pregnancies, there is no spreading of diseases there is no negative effect on society. Have sex, if you want to have a lot of sexual partners before marriage, or if that simply happens because you break up often then go for it. If you want to masturbate go for it. There is nothing wrong with either of these things
"it helped me change my mindset from expecting good things to working on them every chance I get" couldn't have been said better. love to see you discuss about self-improvement and mental health. incredible content as always bigbox 🙌🙌

I swear a couple of hours ago I was thinking of starting nofap and admitting my addiction so I can start fixing it. And boom you uploaded this, I guess that's a sign for me to take this seriously this time. Thank you so much you are the best.
To people that are inspired by this video. Remember that quitting takes multiple tries. I almost guarantee you will fail breaking your addiction for months. As long as you try again and again, you will get further and further. The key is to do your best to forget it exists. Whenever a thought of engaging in your addiction again enters your mind, do your best to block it out and distract yourself. This will teach your brain to forget it and the number of thoughts related to your addiction will start to decrease. At the start you will more than likely not be able to handle the torrent of thoughts and feelings, but the more you practice resisting that you will get stronger. It is okay to fail, make sure you do not discredit the work you did before your relapse because that work is the MOST important part for beating your addiction. That was when things were hardest and you fought anyway. The more you fight the stronger you get and the easier resisting the thoughts and compulsions become. Eventually you will have the required willpower to fight off those thoughts as they lessen over time. This leads to place where you are stronger than your thoughts. There is a tipping point where your thoughts lessen and your willpower is strong enough that you will win the battle every time. In so doing, you also get stronger at resisting other things. I found that when I quit porn I also quit biting my nails at the same time. I found myself wanting to find other things to resist like over-indulging in RU-vid videos. It becomes a muscle in itself to build over time and the results are astonishing. The practice of resisting our desires helps us become more conscious of our subconscious decisions thereby giving us more control over our actions and the future of our lives. I also completely agree with the idea of "Work without purpose" that is one of the hardest things to do especially growing up in these times. The way I phrased it when I found it was "do things for no reason" crazy that we came to the exact same idea lol. Probably cuz it is just so important and true.

Tech is not my field of study, currently in my last semester of MBA, hoping to land a good job as FP&A or FA in Finance, but just wanted to say this was a great video! I'm the exact same way, I've wasted sooo many months and years on BS things. But now working everyday towards learning new skills like SQL, Python, Tableau, financial modeling and forecasting. I want to come back to this video around December 2023 with the news of having my first ever real world adult job as FP&A / FA! See you then bros! Until that keep working hard, with practice you will see what you need to work and improve on :)
i think consistency is also one of the key in becoming better but also one of the hardest to maintain, you get better in programming if you constantly do programming activities, the hard part is making it enjoyable especially if you're bombarded by errors while you're still a beginner (im still even struggling at this part)
consistency without having fun doing it , leads you to a burnout(or maybe just for me). Im currently in my 2nd week not coding anything because I've decided to take a break and learned a new hobby(gardening XD). In my opinion, consistency is really hard when you experience no pressure and fun when practicing. All I had was practicing to code and solve programming problems when making projects but once I took a break, I begun to notice other things(outside world). Just try to go outside in your breaktime or dayoffs and forget about programming.
@@user-th2cp8uh8r Hard agree, some people learn better taking breaks. I personally need weekends off to stay consistent, If I force myself into an everyday coding routine I get burnt out
imo i feel like figuring out first and knowing yourself would make everything just much easier. if you're serious about something just don't talk to anyone about it, do it yourself and grind. cuz i learned as soon as i fking talk about my plans or passions either the whole universe collapses on me or the pressure builds up so much that the passion and excitement you've had in the beginnign disappears so so quickly. delayed gratification is something he mentioned, (still not there yet) but took me like 25 years to learn this... keep up the discipline and do NOT lose your focus and goal. if you have to write them all down, put them on your walls or monitor or wherever you spend your most time on! just don't punish yourself if you make mistakes or "repalse", there are many many tips and tricks out there but they only can function once you know how you work and how your brain works, it's individual and unique to yourself so find the way and don't lose focus! wishing you all good luck♥
I went on Semen retention, staying away from pornography, accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, and He helped me to figure out what to do in life. I want to study computer information systems.
An incredibly wholesome and well elaborated message that can not only be applied to tech, but also to many things in life. Your channel is amazing man. Thanks so much for taking the time to create these positive messages. Giving a mid 30's newbie coder hope in the calamity that is breaking out of my old career for something ultimately better.
Amazing video, I'm a Christian and was always told what I should/shouldn't do growing up but it took me until I was in college to finally understand why these things were so important. I'm currently doing the self-taught route to become a SWE and I'd say not entertaining immediate pleasure definitely helped me a ton with not being too discouraged when my code wouldn't work. And it feels SO much better to delay gratification for something that's actually worthwhile (finally benching a certain amount of weight, being able to code your dream project, etc.) than settle for a quick fix that won't actually make me feel much better in the long run.
“Nothing makes sense until one day it clicks, then you hit a ceiling and repeat” This is very true, I started self taught CS and going from needing to constantly searching for javascript syntax and don’t understand a lick what OOP is, to coding in Java, shell bash, working with cloud and infra and everything makes sense. Until I hit a new wall and started learning it from scratch. This very sentence describes the whole learning process, CS is very vast and when you stumbled on a new field, you feel like a toddler tumbling around.
As an Indian i want to chip in to add something here. In India since ancient times sexual abstinence has been recommended for bachelors. There's a word called 'brahmacharya' which is used but to denote a way of life that stresses on self awareness of mind, control of one's speech, sexual absitnence , balanced diet, anger control, religious education and many many more things. Unfortunately in today's hyper sexualized word, only the sexual abstinence aspect is renamed as NoFap is being popularised while so many other aspects of 'brahmacharya' way of life are discarded. Sexual abstinence is important but it has to be in tandem with so many other things one should do. For example - taking control of the words one speaks is super important for a a student who follows brahmacharya. If one constantly speaks F word or sexual lingos daily and tries no fap , it's not useful. It's not about sex, it's about are controlling the things we can control? Brahmacharya is about that. Where as NoFap is reductive which stresses only on sexual aspect
Amazing video brother! No "motivation talking", no "no-fap is good, everyone should do it", no "go to gym" BS, no fake-motivation and hopes, and no *BULLSHIT* in general! Just a small video with pure experience and logic and of course, lots of MEMES!
What a great coincidence or not. I'm re evaluating my career as a software dev after being unemployed. And realizing I'm wasting a lot of time on other things in my life. Delayed gratification and controlling your dopamine centers is so important for growing in any field that requires hard work. It's all about the long term. Small steps every day will lead into big things in the future. Just be very consistent, and persistent.
You have single handedly inspired me to continue to learn how to program because I was ready to give up. I really appreciate you and the videos you have made.
it's not about the direct success of nofap, i haven't felt many benefits, but what i did feel was this sense of self control over any instinct i have. and that is priceless.

@@alezlevi1959there is nothing to fix. Masturbation isn't bad and you get no benefit if you stop doing it. Have self control over not doing bad things. Masturbation isn't a bad thing. Everyone who wants to masturbate has more than enough time to masturbate every single day. Every person who works 40 hours a week and doesn't have small kids has several hours per day to spend however they want. Everyone has 5 minutes to spend on masturbation. Everyone who doesn't have small kids has several hours to spend with friends per day, to have sex and to masturbate. If you don't have a job, it is not necessary to program 8 hours a day when you practice, i.e. you have even more free time.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this. The idea of delayed gratification is important. I think my hangup is that I have a mental block when tackling hard problems.
This channel is a gem in the RU-vid code-space. But unfortunately(or fortunately) you gotta go through the hardships and learn it the hard way. Maybe watching these videos might help people who are on the right path to encourage them and make the tweaks!

Yep. Doing things without expectations indeed do help. When I started enjoying my journey to learning in order to improve; it felt less heavy. No pressure. Just the fact that I learned felt more rewarding than having the title that I finally achieved something coz I thought maybe it wasn't enough so I need to achieve more but what I always have to remind myself is that, learning is constant & that's wisdom. I was just here to learn. I am! Thanks for the reminder. I love this channel.
Went through the same thing. I would've never gotten into tech without becoming persistent with no expectations. I just believed everything will turn out fine in the end if I don't stop learning and keep fighting my addictions. It did. Especially true about not stressing. If you apply yourself tremendously, you'll come and bombard the interview knowing your superiority in the market over other candidates.
I am finishing up my summer semester as a 3rd-year computer engineer undergrad. I really needed to hear this at this time because C++ is sucking hard right now but I need A's I wanna cry.
That exactly what happened to me, I just stopped doing anything whatsoever for whatsoever expection and started doing what I truly want to do without caring about anything. All what I have now this is only mine world, life without anything else. And trust me it feels wonderful and since that moment I feel truly free out of all this life’s pity attachments.
I'm on the programming journey now and excited for what I can do. But I've done many things that have taken long amounts of time (wrestling and bjj). I just realised it's the same, you'll practice every day until you wake up and go , oh shit, I'm finally not bad at this and can finally make decisions rather than reacting to everything I see.
I was mindlessly driving en Euro Truck Simulator 2 for achievements for several months. And one day it just clicked: I could spend my time on something more usefull. Now I am coding a bit and this helped me in my work which is not directly connected with IT.
This is very true, my approach was opposite though, I learned the hard way of what addictions do to people, and live a straight edge lifestyle now, including the disgusting porn industry. In 2017 I fell into the tech world because a lot of my friends careers are in it, and I stopped hanging out with them - a lot of because of alcohol being so normal to them, but I wanted to prove to myself that I can learn it too, and connect with them in a different way. It soon taught me everything you mentioned here, and I have consistently been learning since. It is a beautiful learning world in the cyber space. Hahaha.
YES. We must not rush to seek a goal. Rather, we must conduct ourselves as one who obtains the goals we want due to the habits and lifestyle we practice. It's like that quote about building a garden, with or without butterflies, we built something nice. Fav small channel, keep it going, bro.
i have a problem. each time im several days into nofap, i struggle to focus and mainly to learn new things and concepts, but after a relapse, i can be productive once more by acquiring information much easily. i'd like to know if anyone is in a similar situation to this
Thanks for this amazing video! That's an important lesson I will apply in my life. I want to know your opinion about the implication internal and external motivation with the concept of reward
Damn, I'm doing Nofap again, because I've been procrastinating this past years as soon as I became a Junior Dev. I consider myself mid level dev. My friends are seniors at other companies, or have begun making startups or products. everytime I'm on short Nofap streaks before relapse, it's just felt easier to embrace the struggle. I think embracing new hobbies on the side will help too, to distract you from fap or instant gratification from social media usage. like, pick any from photography, skateboarding, music, reading, etc.
i tried nofap multiples times for some months, and everytime i felt like nothing changed and since i go to the gym, im training boxing a lot (i love it) and i work my 3D projets (even if i really suck for now since i only started 3 months ago) because i want to have a job in 3D art; i don't think i "need" nofap, i don't say this vid is wrong or anything i just wanna share my experience and point that it depends between each ppl
I think not using porn should be a serious consideration for most young men, It can seriously mess with your perception of women and reward system. Jacking off is healthy and fine in moderation and if you're not gorilla gripping your knob.
You get it dude. For some reason self improvement vids always tell you to stop nutting lol and I was like you too. I tried it many times until I understood that it is not necessarily bad.
"work without purpose " this seems odd, but kind of relate, first time i know about tech stuff like coding, all based on curiosity and fun people ask me "what's your purpose?" well, i do this for "fun", now here i am, a junior programmer with little several experience
I consider that I am not addicted to x videos, but I consume them not frequently but you could say that on a "normal" basis, I realized that when I pursue goals and things that make me happy and fill my soul, and I leave social networks, etc, etc, programming is my job and now I need one, so this is my goal, finishing my degree is another, I firmly believe that achieving them will be a before and after in my life, guys, try to pursue goals and enjoy in the process, but really a goal that fills your soul and your life.
Small projects and freelancing, i known double edge sword. The lesson i learnt once you get money by doing any work. You will appreciate your job and you will work hard.
This is touching on a very profound idea. Not sure if I ever heard it phrased that way. I feel like my life is heading on this path. You realize most rewards are ephemeral and not really that great. I like doing hard things now just for there own sake. Did you get this from an existing philosophy?
doing hard things for the sake of doing them, turning them into habits, eventually your life. hahah no clue on the philosophy side, i journal a lot and what you're watching is just one of my journal logs that i've shared publicly.
I haven’t used my degree after graduating from college. My job is driving me crazy. It has motive to study for CompTIA A+ to break into IT. I do want to get my Master’s Degree eventually as well.
I started nofap last year and my y streak was 3 months and after that i tried hard but couldn't get through it. Even now I'm struggling with that After watching this video there's still 5 months left this year so I'm starting from today and no matter what I'll do it❤️😊 Failure is part of progress but stopping after failure is big L.
My longest streak was like 2 months or so (I only had a single such long one), so after about a month my lebido went to zero. Basically no urges, even rubbing against the bed was not causing an erection. And then I had an anxiety about it, what if this will be permanent? So eventually I managed to excite myself and 'successfully' relapsed..
@@JamesSmith-ix5jd Nothing will happen if you stop masturbating. It will help in many ways you know rhat already 😇 let's do it nofap for 6 months 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Very true. When your only worry is an event in the future like an exam, you forget to live in the present. When you're too forcused on the future, you feel devastated by present hardship. You become even more prone to addiction. When you are addicted, you can't commit to anything. It's a self feeding cycle. Corporates are exploiting our tendency for addiction with stuff like RU-vid Shorts, Tiktok, dating apps, free porn, MMO games, freemium mobile games, recreational drugs, caffeine (including chocolate), alcohol, MSG. Addiction is why so many 18 year olds are struggling with becoming adults. We as a society have not learned to live with so much stimulation.
I have a bit of a different perspective. After hitting Challenger in League of Legends through a consistent 1 game per day, I realized life isn't actually that hard. Stay consistent and you will hit your goals (of course luck plays a part, a la Veritasium video). I now apply the goal of consistency to everything in life, from gym to leetcode, using Microsoft Todos. Still fap though.
Yep i quit porn, fapping, and video games... And the now i have so much more energy and motivation to pursue the truly great things in life that I have been avoiding for years. Impulsive pleasure is indeed a prison, holding our idealized selves hostage.
the perfect video for my situation. am about to go to college, am super addicted to porn and am struggling with studies. thanks bro i needed to hear this.
