one time, our concertmaster was sick, so the second chair had to play the solo. and it was like a solo solo, where everyone else was on rest. needless to say, he absolutely killed it. literally. he butchered it completely.

I’ve been a victim of a trumpet player who talks too much. Everytime we have a long break, he starts talking about how he thinks the song is so easy or how his trumpet doesn’t sound right or the song he’s playing on the piano. He even brought a apple to class when we were playing instruments and was eating as he was playing. I really don’t know what’s more to say.

I was a section leader once, and it was my first time being section leader, and definitely I wasn’t the one my section deserved. I realized that you had to learn the piece before everyone else learned it. And I could feel everyone looking to me for the notes and depending on me to play the right notes. I eventually got the hang of it and I really enjoyed being a section leader. I feel like now if I would be a section leader I would be much more prepared 😂

Same here, but reverse! I was lucky enough to get principal my second year and now in my fourth year I’ve found in a much bigger and advanced orchestra that learning all of the right notes before everybody was so much more stressful. Still, everybody gets there in the end before the concert :D.

I was in a choir that performed with an orchestra and during one rehearsal, the conductor told the concert master to play a difficult portion to demonstrate how it was supposed to sound and she butchered it. The conductor then asked the 2nd violinist to play it and she nailed it effortlessly. Everyone was blown away, including the conductor. My friends and I talked about it for days.

Brett's face in all of this and then Eddy's acting and the video editor should get some golden award for entertainment! Was a long day and to top it off I was making mushroom sauce but it turned out to be liquid pepper since the grinder twist part came off of the pepper mill and this made me laugh the stress away. My friend Ethan in my orchestra class is concert master in the Chambers orchestra, and I'm getting close, but I understand. Sadly, been playing 3 years now, and I haven't made concert master yet. I practice fourty hours a day, and my mom is ashamed of me. Ok, all but the last part is true

At 3:30 they were playing Danzon and I shouted "I PLAYED THAT ONCE!" *My orchestra was actually accepted into the National Orchestra Festival with that as our audition piece.

Not counting. I was in a rehearsal once and I believe we were playing the last two movements of the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky, and literally the entire section didn't come in on the last movement until we reached the last two or three lines.

I remember when I was concertmaster, my shoulder rest literally fell while I was walking out on stage during our CONCERT. To make it worse.... i actually ran back to get it T-T... I'm still cringing just thinking about it.

As a ConcertMaster: I can agree for the 3rd one. I bring up my violin too early so I can indicate others that we are about to play. But it sometimes ends bad.
