Omg. I literally just purchased the book and cookbook on Wednesday, for my father's birthday today. I got a copy of the cookbook for myself too. I'm trying to lose weight. However I'm trying to get my father to lose weight and get healthy. He's been overweight for a decade. And has underlying health issues. I hope he loves it. I want us both to live healthy and fit lives.
I'm currently studying him in my pursuit of becoming a certified holistic nutritionist. He's amazing and always points back to personal stories with, not and, but with backed evidence and studies.
If it’s your first book from Dr Greger. Which one do you recommend to start with? How not to die, not to age, not to diet( I never diet btw)? Thank you
I love how thorough your cookbook reviews are; you leave no stone unturned when describing the merits or lack thereof of whatever you are reviewing. I haven't purchased this book--though I'm a Doc Greger fangurl--but now I think I will. TFP!
@@sfzombie2473 This cookbook was published in 2017, and it's possible that the one in the video is the UK edition; the one in the States has a different cover. So maybe that can help narrow your search. He has a new cookbook, "How Not to Diet," coming out in December of this year, and which is available as a pre-order. I am wondering how similar they are . . .
I really enjoy this book, I feel very guilt free when using recipes from it. I have other vegan cookbooks, but alot use oil or lots of processed product like "cheese"
Dr. Michael Greger is a Scientist all his content and books are gifts for all His fans. Watching reading or listening to Dr. Greger is like a big encyclopedia, I am grateful for all His labor in Science
I have been sitting on the fence about whether to buy this book but as soon as you said the snacks are good, I just brought it! I too can inhale huge bags of crisps no problem and it's getting out of hand. Can't wait to see the recipe videos.
This was a wonderful review of "How not to Die Cookbook," and I love your honesty in your review. I have not read the book, but I plan to and also, the cook book! Great video !!
Thank you for the review. I went vegan almost 11 years ago, for the ethics. And I'm still vegan for the animals. Meanwhile, many years ago, I found out that veganism can have a positive impact also for the planet and for my health. So, in the last few years I adopted a wfpb diet, so I can take care of my gut. I would love to watch you trying some wfpb recipes.
Just watching this video now! I am really grateful for this analysis and for you being a vegan RU-vidr who shows you can focus on health and flavour! So often it's one of the other, and it doesn't need to be.
I bought How not to die and the cookbook, but I gave them to my mom trying to convince her to eat healthier. I saw the cookbook sitting at the back of a closet so I recently took it back. I really need to go through it and try some recipes.
Thank you, thank you SO much for this review!!! I really loved your approach and thoroughness - and actually showing us pages and the layout of the book. Keep doing what you're doing, beautiful. I feel your positive energy from across the screen and I love it! lol Thank you again and be well!
Really pleased to see this video as I'm new to your channel but not new to Greger. Salt also interferes with calcium absorption which I when heard stopped my salt immediately to protect my bones.
I am so grateful for this review. I get tired of buying cookbooks that I don't use. I really wanted to know if I'd use this if I got it and I am sure I will. I appreciate your time and details with sharing your honest experiences and opinions! Thank you BTW I found your channel looking for reviews of this book ;)
Checking out any cookbook from library FIRST is a great idea....you'll KNOW for sure if it fits your lifestyle and tastes---and THEN buy the book or NOT!
Thank you for all the information you gave I really appreciated it. I've started this way of eating but lack cookery books. Im happy that you showed us some of the recipes as that helped me to decide to buy the book. I've bought books in the past that I couldn't look into, then was sorry as I didn't like the recipes. This cookery book looks good and will definitely come back and let you know what I've tried.
Thank you for a brilliant video most helpful. Just a suggestion p,ease don't let RU-vid put the background music in your video it's sla noting and distracting, I had to turn down the sound so try and down out the music. Thanks for a great review.
$26.91¢ was the total for me to get the book from Walmart. Your review was so good/beautiful that I just loved it & Yes! I bought the book. Lolz, my wallet. Love you & Thankyou so gosh darn much. I have been looking for another whole food plant based recipe cookbook. Now I'm waiting on my 'Whole Food Plant Based Cookbook' from The(Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show). Here on RU-vid!! You might love her/them.
So why not soy sauce if he uses miso? Is it because it's not a whole food? Cuz soy sauce is just "by-product" of miso paste. And it has good bacteria too. Not as much as miso I guess. Any idea?
Yeah...i also always season my food with salt.. can't do without it.. and it should really be okay if I'm avoiding processed stuff as thwy have a lot more salt to them
Do you know if there is a way for me to click on your affiliate links in UK and transfer to the French amazon website ? I'd like to support buy buying through your links but I'm not sure how to do that
Learning away from oil but you think healthy oil because you read however you think lubricating plant, stay away from salt (chloride ) and grease, alkaline healthy so eat drink alkaline and no acids, Leafy greens maybe spinach and basil because younging and tasty... but fire to blood hmm balance good chemistry ...positive. Woo woo oh also 7-11 cold press drink when in doubt look for truth.
Not a vegan or vegetarian. Not gonna "save the planet" buying this book. I just like eating healthy. The planet did just fine before we showed up and it will do just fine after we're gone.
Yes, but while we are here, maybe we should be kinder to the planet. I'm not implying that everyone should be plant based, but just be more mindful of our impact.
