This is a fun and crazy video of both Tim and I chasing Bluefin tuna and things that happen along the way. The day was saved by doing a quick change up and targeting some solid halibuts over at Santa Cruz Island.
Bill - love your videos! I'm thinking of moving from freshwater to saltwater fishing. What size/brand boat would you recommend to be able to get out safely to Santa Cruz islands?
Just all depends on money and what you need to do it. 1 person vs 2+, travel or sitting at the dock. I have seen everything from bass boats to yachts. 25' Parkers are killer fishing machines on the salt and if I were to get another boat I will look there first. That boat will get you to any of the island and has a great fishing platform. 150 Merc 4 stroke min for motor and will help with gas costs. 22' plus boat you may have to bump up to 200. We have twin 300 Mercs but gas costs. Our run from Oxnard to santa crez is about 50 gal a day so times that by about 7bucks. Trip to SBI is about 100 gal round trip.
